The motion to DOUBLE RATES FOR INVESTORS and push them out of the Merri-bek area is one of the most ridiculous and dangerous motions to be put forward. The councilor should be embarrassed and ashamed of himself for even putting this motion forward. His lack of understanding of the economy is actually dangerous for everyone in Merri-bek. You are NOT economists therefore best stick to council related issues. Just ridiculous!

We have bad roads all over town and poor looking infrastructure. Merri bek councillors should have a good look around to see how shit it's all become with Greens policies.

It's not about the suburb, it's about the immediate area which is made up of light industrial (ie, only operational during the day) and *residential*. People moved into the area understanding what it was like and accepting of that; this venue would be completely out of keeping with the local area. This is the equivalent of someone installing a live music venue 20 metres from your front door. Consider that.

I love how the Yimby who speaks in favour of a development @30:00 just makes a series of generic claims like he reading off a script. I suspect he lives nowhere near the property or suburb in question (Harry Street is a very small street tucked away on the edge of Brunswick West) and clearly hasn't got a clue on the issues faced by those live there. The fact that a Labor Councillor in seconding the motion feels the need to commend the Yimby comments has a strong virtue signalling vibe to it. The positive aspect of this is that we clearly know where they stand.
