  I don't really think it was ever an effort to 'sabotage' the gimmick. Fred Ottman alway said that they had rehearsed his entrance loads but somebody in the production team added the 2x4 to add strength to the set so it didn't fall over when he came through it but nobody told Fred leading to this painful but classic WCW moment
