Let's be honest. ANY OTHER QB who took over a team unexpectedly in midseason of his rookie year and took them to the conference CG, had a serious arm injury, came back before anyone expected, started the entire next season and went to the SB after being starter for 1.5 seasons would be hailed as a superstar and well on their way to Canton. Take your pick of young QB's who haven't even made the playoffs (or lost early...), many of them are hailed as "rising stars" while people like Simms continue to trash Purdy. It's like the NFL version of Caitlin Clarke. Just hating for hates sake.

Simms is covering for Kyle. Purdy wasn't there in 2020 when Kyle choked, and Purdy wasn't in Atlanta when Kyle choked. Also, Purdy neither drafted nor plays on the O-Line... In every meaningful statistic, Purdy is at worst, a top 10 QB. Simms...not so much.

Aiyuks best ability, aside from his excellent skills like route running and blocking, is his availability. Kittle, Deebo, and CMC can and have all gotten hurt and missed significant chunks of time. Aiyuk really hasn’t so far. I’d pay Aiyuk in a heartbeat.

That season was fun as all hell. I was out in Denver for a few days and went to the local niner bar for the Detroit game and that was UNREAL! The place was popping off like crazy after that fumble recovery. Damn just thinking about the highs of last season has me hyped.

Why is it that when EVERYONE else on the Niners went through negotiations we didn't hear "they play with other great players"? Keep your receipts because when Brocks contract comes up next year you need to remember this same point.

It's not the fact that the team has so many great players, it's how they actually use a WR1. He gets roughly 30% less targets than a typical star WR1. Not his fault, but the position isn't as *valuable* to the niners as it is for many other teams, so they're trying to play that game. It was a different situation when Deebo got the bag. For many teams he is a $30m+ receiver, legitimately. You can't say the same about Bosa or CMC, they both are just as instrumental to the niners as they would be for anyone else. You might say it about Brock if your opinion is he isn't versatile enough to be a successful QB1 for much of the league (I personally don't hold that opinion, I think he's really fucking excellent at the position and would surprise a ton of people)... that said, if he continues playing at this level or exceeds it, there is a legitimate case he is worth top of market $$ to the niners despite what other GMs think.

The issue I have is Kyle's offense holds back receivers and smart ones won't want to play for the Nines in the future but the worst part is the Niners want receivers who block and Kyle values that but doesn't value it enough to pay out.

And there's truth to that, but I think it's obvious from reports that Jimmy was satisfied being an average starter. He clearly wasn't obsessed with improving his craft in the way Purdy is. Maybe WRs are only a value on rookie deals,pay them these insane contracts and the team talent will lack somewhere else.You can argue the,Kittle Deebo and Bosa contracts backfired as they weren't playing at the same level post contract,maybe the 49ers realized they can't get high end production out of these players year in,year out and want to keep their checking account in Check
