Just received my vnd lens in the mail yesterday and this video was very helpful! Looking forward to using it. Thanks for this upload
"but you get a lovely sticker!" LOL
🤣
First time viewer. I wasn't sure if you were trying to audition for Amazon audio books. Nice pics.
Mark, I like this format a lot more than the previous ones. I think it is more professional.
Fabulous video Mark, sorry it’s the last one of the series. We all captured some great images, especially the king of black & white, I don’t know how Bruce does it. We always have a great time and the trip is over before we know it except for that one dinner at Denny’s in Tucson! 😆 Inside joke!!
Thanks, Mark…Let’s meet at a Denny’s somewhere soon 😂
Mark & Camper! 1rst-the poem was GREAT as it always is! Next-You GM brought back memories of your brothers graduation @ Twenty - Palms of the Marine Corps! The video is perfect, I loved every single thing from beginning to end!! All your videos are wonderfully presented! Keep up the great job!! ❤
Gear video!
Great video. I’ve wanted to get to Joshua Tree NP as well, and I have not researched it very deeply yet. Your video gives me some insight on what to expect there. It is different than I had imagined. Have you been to Death Valley yet? I bet you’d like it there as well. I am itching to go back.
Excellent! Joshua Tree NP has been on my bucket list since my nephew worked there for the NP service quite a few years ago. I have to get busy living and get there! One segment of this video that stood out is the anticipation of getting shot - waiting for the cars to come by to get the light trails, the patience required for "the shot".
This video brought back memories of my photo journey decades ago to Alabama Hills in Lone Pine CA. Stunning rock formations as found in Joshua Tree. Houdsta once again told a great story supported by wordsmith Camper and stunning photos by all!
Thank you Peter.
Another great video, Mark. I had such a good time again with you and Camper. Good luck on you NEXT Adventure 👍😃👍
They still have ponderosas? I hear the bark beetles have killed off 90% of them in the Sierras.
There were still plenty from what I’ve seen. In the valley and at higher elevations (Nevada Falls).
As an avid Diet Coke fan, I have to say that I have come to enjoy the taste of Caffeine Free Diet Pepsi. Great video. Beautiful locations. The variety of locations you’ve visited and photographed really demonstrates your talent. Well done!!
Just BEAUTIFUL! Really enjoyed this one, from start to finish. It was a lot of things, yet funny too.,Camper, was gonna ask ya if you’d Please drink the Pepsi, for me, but I couldn’t do that to you. So keep having fun w/it. Other than that/ a really AWESOME job w/this video.! Also, there’s just something about Churches !!! 🙏🙏❤️
Now, now Camper no need to litter. LOL. Awesome story telling as always Mark. You are taking some really awesome trips. I need to lead by your example. Oh I struggle with B&W as well.
Fantastic episode Mark, you always deliver the goods. Thank you for bringing back the memories As for the Pepsi, I loved the slow motion shot! 😂 Looking forward to episode 3, Joshua Tree.
Sorry Camper but I still believe that you need to complete the “Pepsi Challenge”.
😢
Looks like a great trip and the different compositions thru 3 different eyes shows how varied the same place can be. I give Camper a pass on the Pepsi, his poems might suffer if he has to drink the Pepsi. After all who knows where he draws his inspiration from.
I just bought these and look forward to using them. However, I'm just thinking that it would have been nice if they included the Mist filter instead of the 10 Stop (you can achieve this be stacking the 3 & 6)
As always A Great video! I’m late responding but better late than never! Campers poem was fantastic,, don’t know how he does them, but great job! Can’t wait til your next one.,❤️
Thanks mom.
Does Camper finally own up to our Oregon Bet where he must drink a Pepsi? You'll have to watch to find out.
Camper needs more air time!
😂
Great video! What an amazing area. I can’t wait to see Episode 2!
I’m sure you will like it!
As always, fantastic video Mark. The southwest is so awesome, I could go back anytime. This country we live in is so diverse, I wish everyone could experience this park. Oh and thank you Bruce for your concern for our safety. 🐍 Looking forward to the next episode.
As I told you I was ready to call 911 at a moments notice, Mark 🚨😃
Great video, Mark. Both you and Camper got some great shot🌵…and you didn’t get bitten by a rattlesnake or scorpion 🐍
Great video Mark and it looks like an amazing trip. I'm glad you and Camper made it back without any trouble from those "things that want to kill you". One of the great things about your travel videos is showing the images from your companions and how different people see the same area.
What app is that been used at 11:10 ??
The app is ProCam and will give you much more control over the native app. apps.apple.com/app/id730712409
great video! I really enjoyed it!
Thanks so much!
So glad you got to see it!
I hope you did as well!
Had a blast 100 miles ENE of you over in Rangeley, ME. A tremendous experience unlike anything I've ever seen or felt before. It was good to see that you had set up in such a way that you could enjoy the view while shooting. Steve needs to add one additional side to his camp breakfast on the flat top............scrapple!! Really enjoyed the video, nicely done!
I agree Rick, it was unlike anything I've ever seen before. Incredibly beautiful. Yeah, we had an awesome camp setup that's for sure!
I spent my childhood setting up campsites with my father but I can honestly say that I never did it in the snow. That was cool. I'll be honest I didn't get that excited about eclipse (at least to photograph it). Probably because we weren't going to get total here in CT. I'm sure seeing totality is a how other level though. It was cool to experience through your video though. Your story telling is always next level.
I have to admit, snow camping was a blast, 3 days in 30-ish-degree weather does take its toll though. Totality is an entirely different level as you mentioned. I had no idea how beautiful it would be and how it made me feel. What an experience. Many thanks for the kind words.
ABSOLUTRLY LOVED THIS “TO THE MOON & BACK💕 WOW-AWESOME!! Thanx!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wonderful video Mark as always. What a beautiful location to witness this once in a lifetime event. I enjoyed the total eclipse from Ohio and it was an amazing, an incredible experience. Steve did a great job trying to live the Houdsta life style but there is only one Houdsta! The solar eclipse photos were fantastic and so was your photos of the stream by your camping spot! Looking forward to your next video!
What an incredible event Mark, so glad you were able to experience totality!
Great video Mark! A story well told about a special event and the conflict between photographing an event and experiencing it...a struggle for many of us. It appears that Steve has drunk the Kool-Aide and is going to be living the Houdsta camping lifestyle, he deserves his own camp blowtorch. Seriously though, well done and the solar event was incredible just 20 miles west of you as well.
Yeah, Steve needs the blow torch to complete his Houdsta Camping Kit. 😜
Just the video I was looking for. Thank you. I’m going to Yosemite, sequoia,Zion and Bryce in June and wanted to see if I could get away with just the iPhone 15pro max and make some prints to hang on my wall. I am unable to print myself, if I send the raw file to printing company will they change the resolution as needed as I don’t have a clue what to do? Also do you think some of these lenses you can get like sandmarc would be good for landscape photography? Thanks for any time taken to reply.
So sorry for the delay Steve, I've been traveling. Yes, yes, yes, you can totally get away with using your 15pro max, and with great results. A few tips I'd recommend is to try and use the wide lens as much as possible because it has a much larger sensor than the ultra-wide and telephoto lenses and therefore superior quality and results. You won't always be able to do this to get your shot but certainly do try. Btw, the camera defaults to the wide lens so there's nothing you need to do, but if you zoom out, or zoom in to the point where the lenses change, then you'll have to consider what's more important. This won't necessarily affect smaller prints like 8x10 and such, but for larger sizes, 13x19, 16x24, etc, you'll notice a big difference. Another tip, and while this sounds so simple, make sure your lenses are clean. If there's smudge, oils, etc, you can really ruin an otherwise good image. If you plan on doing lots of shooting, you may want to consider a camera grip for your iPhone. I can make recommendations if you're interested. As for printing, I don't believe they'll accept a RAW file unless it's a service they're offering. You can certainly ask though. While this is something I don't offer, I'd be willing to process a few of your images as a thank-you for supporting my channel. :-) Lastly, have an awesome trip and be in the moment(s). Yosemite stole my heart, it's a magical place. Zion, Byrce, Sequoia, oh my... do you have room for one more. 🤪
@@MarkHoudePhotography thank you so much for the detailed response and kind offer. Hopefully I will take some process worthy photos on the trip. 😁👍🏻
@@Steven-qi4gm 👍🏼go with what you're feeling and you'll make magic!
Just let me watch my damn show
Watch Away!!!
Nice job Mark, you may a sold me on this product. You are an exceptional salesman. Also loved the photos you shared.
I'd starve as a salesman lol, but hey, I do love this filters so it came easy.
👍👍👍, beautiful pictures! thank you!
Thanks for visiting!
I’ve been really enjoying these filters. What do you think, do you already own them, use them, or are you considering buying a pack?
Great product video, Mark. I also like the quick tutorial on filters in general as well 👍
Thanks Bruce! 👍
I fully expected to open the link and find a price 2x offered price. They are so affordable that in addition to buying his own set, Camper can afford to send me a set for my birthday!! Seriously though, nice product. Great review also. You really did a thorough job, touching on all aspects of the product. I’ll save Camper some money by alerting my kids that these filters are on my Father’s Day list!
lol I would love to buy you a set but unfortunately if I buy you a set then I’ll have to buy everyone a set too. Sorry 😢
I just took delivery this week (April 2024) of my M2 Ultra Studio, upgraded to 128GB unified memory and 2TB SSD. I didn't need a larger internal SSD, since I have 64TB of external drive space. My maxed-out iMac from 2012 has NEVER had any issues, but got too old to update the operating system and the photo processing software I use for my Hasselblads and Nikons. As a test yesterday, using Capture One, I set up a task to process a set of 156 RAW 50MP images from an external disk drive, sequencially and uniquely editing each RAW image (including crops as needed). The Capture One task then downsized each, converted each to highest quality JPEGs, and wrote each new image file back to the same external disk drive. This took 53 seconds - finishing nearly three 50MP RAW edits and conversions per second - all while reading and writing to the same external disk drive.
That's a monster. I'd have to think you're a happy camper! Is it quiet? I always wondered if the ultra with those specs runs louder or much hotter than the max.
@@MarkHoudePhotography It is absolutely dead silent, and no warmth at all to the touch.
I only use the internal SSD to store programs, then using external drives to store multiple copies of my saved work. I wanted plenty of unified memory for added future-proofing, and to prevent SWAP from putting unnecessary wear on the internal SSD - since SSDs have limited write-cycles. When I bought my iMac in 2012, I maxed out the RAM to 32 GB, which I'm sure contributed significantly to its useful life to more than 12 years.
@@randytesch7664 That's where Apple shines. The ingenuity behind Silent Fans is bar none. HP on the other hand... absolutely awful, terrible, obnoxious high RPM whining fans. I complain about the cost of Apple products, but the fact they design their machines with the end-user experience as an important factor is why they're the pinnacle of all things tech.

You said you got the Max instead of Ultra, but mentioned you appreciate the 64GB of ram. Did you get the Max and pay $400 to upgrade the memory? I’m deciding between Mac Studio Max and Ultra right now…

Did you buy it yet Jason? I'm a bit behind here and catching up. I'm very sorry for the late reply. I got the Max and recall paying the $400 to upgrade. If you can swing it with the extra cash, go for the Ultra. But if it's any help, the Max hasn't let me down thus far. I'm using Final Cut Pro X and running some serious plugins (motionVFX) all while having Lr, Ps, multiple browsers, with multiple open tabs and two monitors.
@@MarkHoudePhotography Not yet. I am hoping Apple announcing the M4 Macs at WWDC in a few weeks, ideally to be released shortly this summer :).
NOTE, I do not recommend buying their products directly from China Freewell Company, they robbed me for 829 dollars, they are whores and yellows did not feel responsible for this if the parcel does not arrive! I got an offer from them to give it to me a second time for half the price and also without delivery confirmation!
Is this lava tube safe during Suhnukher Eruption 🌋? Or is it somehow connected?
Hi Susan, I’d check with the authorities and/or visit their website. Were you considering a tour but had concerns?
wow these shots came out great!
As did the gourmet meal! 😛
Lemme js watch some bleach bro
I don’t even know what that means lol. 😂
Nice review! Mine just arrived today so this was very timely. I’ve only played with it a little so far, but I agree with your comments regarding the swing arm - nice idea, but wish you could lock it down in place. It looks like you could remove it if it’s not useful or helpful. I do like the smaller form factor, compared to a SmallRig Universal cage, for example. The SmallRig cage, while very nice, feels to large and awkward with the side handles attached. Not sure I’d want to use it out and about much. This SANDMARC one might work for me. To be determined … Thanks!
Hey John, have you used your Film Rig? I've used mine on a recent trip to Vermont for the total solar eclipse. I wasn't going to bring it but I'm glad I did, it came really handy and I walked away with much better B Roll.
MARK, I like the item! You are good kiddo! Great job. If I were you c I’d pack it always/just in case. Enjoy your Solar Eclipse adventure. Keep safe abive all! ❤
Right on
Great review, you told it like it is. I like it, I particularly like the way you hold it, so sturdy and secure. Nice job! P. S. The meal looks delicious!
Thanks for watching!
