I started on this kit about two weeks ago as my first ever wood ship model. I am just about ready to start painting it. They actually give you the option of making the bottom out of three pieces edge glued that is what those pieces are for at 6:11. It takes some getting used to working with pieces so tiny and fragile but it is fun.

I use a pin with the head cut off.... Sharp end is in the pin vise. I also have a glue looper that I don't use much.

It was an enjoyable build...with almost no issues. None that really stick out to me at this point...and the van's baby brother (Revell 1:16) is in the case with it. Someday I'll get the display room presentable and do a video...perhaps end of year for 2024...

Buck, I hope you are still out there since this is two years old. Between part 1 and 2 of your videos I can’t see how to put together the keel. I have three parts but it looks like there are only 2 to be glued together. Is one of the parts a spare? I thought this was a beginners model but it is not. Where did you get the sizing triangle for the width of the parts? If you can please advise. Scott

More like a reverse Alien autopsy. Todd's reaction to kicker is pretty hilarious. And the magnets helps some, but the black super glue is what really holds it together.

I just bought this kit on Model Expo a few minutes ago after watching your videos. It was $59.99. I also bought two different Pavel Nikitin dinghys for $20 each. They look a lot simpler, so I think I will do them first before I try this kit.

@BuckmansModelMania Maybe I'm being a little nieve and overly ambitious, but I want to work my way up through all the wooden model boat difficulties over the next four or five years while I save up for a Scamp micro cruiser kit, a real sailing dinghy that I want to build for camping.
