Thanks for sharing. As a kid from Northern Ireland in the 80s, i spent my summers with a family from Buffalo who had a summer home on Point Abino road. Spent many a day "at the beach". Great days.

I was afraid of rollercoasters until I was 16 or 17 and my friends convinced me to ride one when we went to Six Flags Over Texas. My first rollercoaster was The Texas Giant, the tallest wooden rollercoaster in the world at the time. On the ride up the first hill I was regretting my choices. I was absolutely terrified. As soon as we started that first drop, that all went away and I was 100% in. Couldn't get enough after that. Rollercoasters are awesome.

I wonder if when signing on to this movie, Jay had a clause put in his contract specifying that he didn't have to go on a roller coaster if he didn't want to. However, he probably didn't, and trusted that Judd would keep his promise about not forcing Jay onto a roller coaster. If the clause was in there, Jay could've sued Judd and the studio for breach of contract. However, Jay did this movie when he was a lot younger, and much less experienced. Judd saw this and took advantage of it to play a prank on Jay. Jay probably has a no roller coasters clause in his contracts now. He had a butt double for the shaving scene in "She's Out of My League." In an interview about the butt double, Jay said that if they wanted him to show his butt during a scene, they should've brought that up when they were negotiating his contract. For the butt double scene, maybe they didn't decide to have that scene until late in the movie's production, long after the actors' contracts had been negotiated. If Jay had a no nudity clause in the contract, there was nothing they could've done. If he didn't, and they asked Jay to show his butt, he probably vehemently told them no, remembering his experience with the roller coaster. That was quite a rude thing for Judd to do, and I'm sure Jonah was in on it. So he deliberately didn't come that day. It's another example of a director abusing their power. It's not quite as bad as a male director coercing a female actor into sex in exchange for a role. But tricking Jay into getting on the roller coaster was still really mean. I also happened to notice that Jay has not worked on anything that involved Judd Apatow since "Knocked Up." He did star in "Undeclared", which Judd Apatow was in charge of. But that was years earlier, and I haven't heard of Judd pulling any nasty pranks on Jay during that time. I don't blame Jay. If I was scared to death of something and someone, especially someone who had power over me like a movie director, took advantage of that fear to prank me, I would never work with them again either.

This is so shitty. He's been saying from the start he would rather pass on the movie if the rollercoaster was mandatory. Then, the director lies to Jay to get him on the rollercoaster. You don't have to agree with someone's irrational fear to not be a dick about it.

Here’s the problem…Roller Coasters have changed so dramatically..The fear factor has been reduced..No laminated wood tracks-Which roar when the cars traverse them..Built on site/No PTC trains that give you max airtime and movement ..And the sense of imagined danger ..Totally gone..A wooden coaster should give you the feeling of a being in a earthquake while going at a high rate of speed…One of the last few examples remaining today is the Boardwalk Bullet in Kemah Tx(Near Houston Texas)..This little coaster..Built on 1 acre of land -is absolutely the most intense wooden coaster currently operating..It’s a 100% blast from the past…It’s not even 100ft high but is scarier than Steel Vengeance..It’s for coaster purists ..And it’s almost impossible to hold your hands up on the 1st drop -which is like a Mike Tyson knock out punch for roller coasters!..It’s 3000ft of pure fury..And this the way a wooden roller coaster should be..Not a hybrid..Steel Tracks on a wooden frame..But this new generation just can’t handle a rough and frightening ride.😂😂😂😂😂…If the Texas Cyclone(1976-1984 version (Before modifying because of frivolous lawsuits)existed today..You would have every Fan Boy coaster kid crying online about how dangerous it is..And it was only 92ft high but the consensus #1 coaster on the planet…To get a idea…It destroyed the famous Beast Roller Coaster which was built during this time period also…Maybe I’m just a old cranky man but I know more about roller coasters than most people today…And the Bible of Roller Coasters was written by Dr.Robert Cartmell years ago.(RIP)….Times have changed but bring back the Texas Cyclone (Built by William Cobb)and correct the Universe of Roller Coasters!!!

Wow, Robert Cartmell was a printmaker/artist who also taught at SUNY Albany in the 1970s. Quiet and meek in real like though when he spoke in drawing class it was always a gem. One day he was missing from class and we found out he had gone to NYC to be guest they were trying to ferret out on "What's My Line". He was also briefly a consultant to the movie "Rollercoaster" with George Segal, but quit when he found out the film was going to be a diaster movie. Roller coasters were on the way out and he couldn't stand to see them disparged in a movie. His historical knowledge and getting like minded coaster lovers together, with advent of newer technology saved rollercoasters. When he heard Palisades Amusement Park was closing he rushed down on the last day and took slide photos and treated the drawing class to them while playing Chuck Barris' "Pallisades Park". While a rollercoaster thrill seeker I believe he also suffered from depression. Great guy. .

His perspective is missed. RMC needed him to reimagine rides. They shit the bed on Gwazi as far as it being a complete package like SV is. I’ve recreate ridden both and while Gwazi is balls to the wall, it’s not completel or well thought out like what Alan can do. Aire Force is looking the same way. We will see what they do with wildcat
