What was the price of a mile? From 500,000 to 1 million. Because such were the numbers killed in the battles of World War I. Generals in the 19th century are mentally not ready for machine guns, massive artillery fire and planes. The French army began World War I wearing silver helmets and red and blue trousers. Against the background of the gray surroundings, they were perfectly visible.

Preparing Krieg Siege army for deployment on Vraks Prime it's 34 regiments of siege warfare experts. Units of Death Korps of Krieg. Well in modern age 34 regiments would be around 110 thousand men but I think in 40k regiments have a strength of whole modern division which is 10 - 20 thousand soldiers. So 34 regiments would be 340 thousands to 680 thousands or even more.

To those saying war never changes: that isnt entirely correct. It does change. Slowly the risk of death is lower with modern weapons, but also greater with them. War evolves and becomes more and more miserable as weapons being used can change the world, or even end it.

The battle of Passchendaele has to have been one of the worst in history. the soldiers were in terrible conditions to wear you either drowned in mud, or you dodnt because someone else already had and you were standing on them. there was even a unspoken agreement between both sides to not shoot at stretcher bearers, for they were the only hope for some men to not drown. but even in the trenches it didnt get better, any wounded they had would have to continuously have things put under them because they were actively sinking
