As far as I'm concerned, this was a huge baddass scene and the actor(and character) knew how to impose his gravitas which is why the mostly untrained BHS soldiers just stood there because they figured he was toast anyway. But by god! That litttle smirk when he says "i guess not..." It gets me 😂. Love that scene.

waits over 30 seconds to fire at ghoul which brotherhood views as subhuman,ghoul takes shot killing a knight,proceeds to wait over ten seconds more before firing,proceeds to miss everyshot from 7 brotherhood soldiers that had over 40 seconds to aim at him.....11 out of 10 best show ever!!! please help me i want to die.

Let’s add to that, No where does it state that he fought (and killed) brotherhood knights before. Him testing out if the welding holds up to pre war standards (which they do which means same weakness) is incredibly stupid. If it was a bunch of raiders what just broke into an armory that’s been sealed then yeah makes sense. But a brotherhood knight that may or may not have a “older” more worn set of power armor from the brotherhoods early days may be a new set of PA all on its own. Shit breaks and can’t find replacement part? They could make their own parts so that the set is functional. They cannibalize other sets that are also dysfunctional and make a frankistine armor. There is a lot of ways with a lot of time that his one little theory could have been null and void and that armor could have eaten that shot or at the very least do something other than what he expected. I would be fine with that last part too. Like he shot that part of the armor and it causes the reactor to short out and explode. With him saying “we would have lost the war if they did that back then” There is no way that for 200 years the brother hood was able to have the same exact manufacturing and logistical capillarity as prewar America and not once improve or decline since then.

I'll remind anyone upset with the "welding flaw" that T-60 is canonically just retrofitted/semi enhanced T-45, with the main enhancement being more stable power output. Unlike t-51 which is a proper good suit but much more expensive to make.

The Brotherhood got their start from remnants of the U.S. military. There's no way the Brotherhood wouldn't have known about that flaw and not done something to fix it. It's just terrible writing, right alongside the "cold" fusion plot point. "Cold" fusion is just fusion and the only reason why any electronics still work in the wasteland was that it was all fitted with fusion power before the bombs fell. The writers blatantly only have a surface level understanding of Fallout and completely missed the point, just like Bethesda has with every game they've released. It's not supposed to be some retro-future 50s sci fi circus where people still act like it's the 50s in the wasteland, yet somehow have done nothing to advance society at all in 200 years. Atomic bombings all but erased any knowledge people had of the previous world and nuclear weapons are something to fear like it's evil magic, not launched willy nilly from silos or flung from shoulder mounted weapons. I don't know why I bother. The original spirit of Fallout is dead. Todd Howard and Emil Pagliarulo strangled it while staring directly into it's eyes.

The original devs also had to retcon and outright correct certain things on their freaking forums. It was ridiculous. Not in the dramatics or style or badassery but banking too much on “oh this is the EXACT make and model of power armor from before the war, no changes to it whatsoever.” Like okay this one suit might have been in storage for 200 years and recently found but not for every set. Shit breaks, they repair it. They might have to make changes to it because they can’t find or replicate a part. If it was one of the “older” or more used suits then he can’t bank on the wielding on a set of power armor that could have been in service for 200 years with various degrees of service.

I agree with the whole lights out, spec ops thing he got going but the opening was just stupid, especially if they just opened fired as soon as they turned around While he is still loading. I can see the girl getting that as a lucky shot but not him. As that is banking everything on presume to be outdated intel. He survived 200 years in the wasteland. Putting his life on a stupid gambit doesn’t seem like the type of guy, especially when he has a lead on his family.
