You didn't. I did. General Garnett drifted his mount several times before being his on day 3. As we all know he could not heed the order to go it on foot.

By that time The Confederacy was pretty well finished. Slavery was not part of the negotiating at that time. Lincoln simply wanted the blood shed to stop. And the nation be united once again. The war was about money. In 1860 the state of Mississippi had more millionaires than the state of New York. Unfortunately slavery in my opinion would have lasted about another 50 years. Remember it was in the 1920s that women in The United States were granted suffrage. And African Americans still had to endure Jim Crowe laws. And if it was left to the Nazi Trumpers we would have an enduring racism across the nation.
