PLEASE VISIT OUR WEBSITE : wanowandthen.com/

This channel and our website are all about Western Australia.

We cover all sorts of topics including interesting attractions, towns and cities, great campsites and accommodation, history, folklore, birds, animals, wildflowers, four wheel driving, camping, caravans, camper trailers, boating, fishing, safety on the road and we also share our adventures with you as we travel around to film and photograph Western Australia.

We may not have a huge number of subscribers but we do have a huge number of videos. Sometime in 2024 we will reach 1000 videos so you should find something here to interest you.

I hope you enjoy the videos we make and if you do, please consider subscribing because that lets KZread know that people like us and we get a bit more attention from them.

Also if you give our videos the thumbs up and make a comment on them, that helps too.

Thanks - Marc

    My parents went here almost 40 years ago and then we went back when i was a kid and even in the 10 years between visits back then there were so many more rules and restrictions must be so different now. Was a very pretty area, i remember there been lots of tiny shells everywhere

    It's sad that with the increasing number of visitors every year, more rules have to be brought in. We first went there in the 1980s and it was nice, relaxed and fairly undeveloped, now it is just like a tourist resort.

    @WesternAustraliaNowAndThen yeah when my folks when it was really laid back, when I was there the rules were a lot stricter and that was in the late 90s I can't imagine how much more different it is now

    Do you think this old place would have originally had ceilings? I noticed the bakelite fittings are still on the beams, but no evidence of ceilings or cornices. Amazing to think much of those building materials would have had to have been taken in there by horse and cart.

  • @WesternAustraliaNowAndThen
    @WesternAustraliaNowAndThen4 күн бұрын

    It probably didn't have ceilings, many of the old buildings didn't have them as there was no real need. Things were pretty basic.

    Wikicamps doesn't list tents as an option here, but the signage seems quite clearly to indicate that they're okay. My experience camping here: the best place around IF you get it to yourself. Having both a toilet AND A HOT SHOWER meant that the place quickly filled up with other campers, something of an issue if you all end up having to wait your turn. I'd encourage everyone to weigh it up against Koorda caravan park (about 25 minutes west) to see which is more practical for you. It's very cheap for people in tents ($5 a night!) but has no shade, yet it also has an honesty box with an envelope for all people coming in, giving you the freedom to come and go without the hassle of check in/check out times. Caravans/RVs are $15 per night/$50 per week for non-powered sites, and $30 per night/$140 per week for powered sites, but in both cases there's a pay 2 stay 3 deal. www.koorda.wa.gov.au/visit/where-to-stay/accommodation.aspx Some other caravan parks in the region that I hope people try out and review: Trayning, Bencubbin and Wyalkatchem. Wyalkatchem is probably the most expensive, but you get free access to lawn bowls and the aquatic centre next door, and if you're willing to pay $50 a night, your own ensuiite toilet and shower right next to your caravan
