Love the fur you created. I'm a beginner so please excuse my question, but why didn't you blend the eyes to start, so the colours were less defined before adding the detail, especially on the cats right eye (our left as we look at the painting) ?

Why put purple and brown there first when it's all covered up by black? Does some of the lighter colour show through the black?
@paulwilliamsfineart3 ай бұрын
Hi, yes the full tutorial explains in depth. But adding the colours builds depth to the fur. When you use the slicer tool to take away some black to add finer fur it shows through :)

Watching this really makes me appreciate just how much work goes into those lovely doggy portraits that pop up all the time on facebook. People just write pastel pencils or something on pastel mat, but the amount of work, patience and skill that would go into drawing a whole animal is incredible. Until people watch this video or something similar, they're not going to really appreciate just how much time and effort goes into one piece. I'd love to try it, l have a professional photo of my much loved pooch (who died 20 years ago) but having never lifted a pastel pencil or whatever, l doubt if l could do it. Don't know until you try l suppose. Anyway, thankyou so much for taking the time to show this. Very enlightening!
