Too cool!!! I've got the very same motor. My 1967 950SS - S/N is 2124720 - it was stored on a 1967 Larson for 30 years in a barn. I'm working on it now to get back into the water. Compression 120 all the way through all six cylinders.

Peppy little motor with only 66.6 Cubic Inch Displacement. 1967 80hp and1968 OMC 85hp Slugs used 89.5 Cubic Displacement, and had poorer Acceleration and lower Top Speed

I have a Mariner 45 the same age as this. Parts guy says service parts are all easy to get but if you're looking for major parts like the castings you'll be in for a hard time. I imagine that means if you mess your lower unit up it's scrap.

I just bought a 1988 Bass tracker boat with this engine on it. Not running right now, going to start the work soon. It says Classic Fifty in the decal on the engine but also says 45 HP, so I am thinking its 45 HP but referred to a model (at the time) which would have been familiar to classic boat owners as the "Classic Fifty" so they knew what they were getting.

I think the way hp was measured changed from powerhead hp to hp delivered on to the prop shaft so the same engine was sold before as 50hp but measured from the prop shaft the hp was 45hp.
