    Hands down, probably the very best collection of Habs memorabilia I’ve ever seen. Well displayed too, not cluttery either. I have a white seat from the Forum. (Number 17, Row A, Section 321) ~ 👍👍 ~ My framed, signed Rocket Richard (white) jersey is one of my favourite and coveted piece in my Habs rec-room.

    From Portland, I love the Pats. 105 static years of history for a non-pro sports team is unheard of. If any major-junior franchise is deserving of a Memorial Cup it's....Saskatoon. Followed by Regina getting another.

    I met Pat Falloon at the Canada Inns Fort Garry in Winnipeg sometime in 2012 and like many, growing up, I had his hockey cars specifically his draft card 91' Pro Set which I did mention to him as we had drinks and played slot machines I remember he said "how did you know it was me?" in which I replied "the manager told me". (I had no idea it was him) 🤷‍♂

    Benefitted from the nhl lock out. Talk about how scumbag coach hunter kept double shifting corey perry during a 12-0 late season blow out so he could pad his stats to win scoring title to the tune of 8 pts.

  • @hockeydocs
    @hockeydocs2 ай бұрын

    Um...Ok. He won the scoring title running away. Probably more likely trying to give him a chance at 50 goals. Considering the all-time season they had, I'm OK with that.

    1982 - the last year the Memorial Cup was a legitimate tournament. Since 1983, the 4th team (host team) starts the season knowing all along they are in the final four. Sure, sometimes the host team wins. After all, they have home ice all the games, and they can prepare for the big tournament all season - playing any lines, any players, resting anyone they want at any time. Imagine the Stanley Cup where one team is guaranteed a Conference final spot? And all games are played in their home city? How can Canada not have interest in attending a big hockey tournament? To water down the tournament with a "host city" destroys the integrity of the game.

  • @hockeydocs
    @hockeydocs2 ай бұрын

    Maybe, but in many junior hockey markets, you need the host team to draw local attention. The CHL continues to be a gate revenue-driven league (unlike pro sports and the massive TV and corporate deals). I see that as needing the host team to give the bidding team the confidence they can recover the guarantees they make to host the tournament. If you eliminated the host team, I believe the tournament would only be (maybe) viable in the biggest markets and would eliminate many of the communities in the CHL.

    The BIG championship of the Canadian Hockey League, a consortium of three major junior ice hockey leagues operating in Canada and parts of the USA. It is a four-team round-robin tournament played among the champions of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) and Western Hockey League (WHL), and a fourth, hosting team, which alternates between the three leagues annually! Ages allowed are between 15-20 years of age. That is only a 5 year "at very top" possible amount of time to not only win a major junior league title, but even less to qualify for the Memorial Cup (!) jikes..... Still knowing that, I never put enough time to weight the Memorial Cup's chanses to win compared to ALL the professional major championships presented here: # NHL Stanley Cup = Yearly. 32 teams ./. 16 Teams = 8 best teams from East vs. 8 best teams from West qualifies to the play-offs to compete. NOTE: NHL is universally recognised as the biggest and greatest hockey league in the world, where all young tallents world-wide aspire to play there on a team. # Olympic gold = Evrey four year the Olympic games happens ./. 14 Nation Teams = Top six IIHF places are given direct entry to the first round, places 7th and 8th were given direct entry to the preliminary round, and all other participant nations were seeded in IIHF qualifying tournaments to fill the remaining six positions. The 8 best nations qualifies during the tournament for the quarter-finals, 4 best for semi-finals and 2 best fight for the gold & silver while 3rd and 4th fight for the bronze medal. NOTE: Each nation brings the best players they have possible avaible to represent them and nations like Canada, USA, Russia, Sweden, Finland & Czech Rep are traditional favourites for the medals due to there richer hockey cultures and amount of top level players. # IIHF World Championship gold medal = Yearly. 16 Nation Teams = Top eight IIHF places are given direct entry to the first round, places 9th and 10th were given direct entry to the preliminary round, and all other participant nations were seeded in IIHF qualifying tournaments to fill the remaining positions. # KHL Gagarin Cup = Yearly. 23 teams ./. 16 Teams = 8 best teams from East vs. 8 best teams from West qualifies to the play-offs to compete. NOTE: KHL is recognised as the 2nd biggest and greatest hockey league in the world, where a lot of young tallents world-wide aspire to play there on a team, if they do not make it to a team in the NHL. A lot of great Russian tallents that could potentially be in the NHL remains in the KHL. # AHL Calder Cup = Yearly. 32 teams ./. 16 Teams = 8 best teams from East vs. 8 best teams from West qualifies to the play-offs to compete. NOTE: AHL is recognised as a professional league that is affiliated with the NHL. Near all AHL teams have a connection with an NHL team where players are regularly sent up- and down in-between, but that is not a rule for all players as majority of players are career AHL players who are good playing hockey but not to make it to the NHL and/or do not aspire to play abroad in European professional leagues ex: Germany, Swiz, Sweden, Finland, Italy etc. OTHER TOP HOCKEY LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIPS: # IIHF Champions Hockey League (CHL) Championship Tournament / Europes best league champions competes for the European Continent Championship. # Alps Hockey League (AlpsHL) / A professional ice hockey league based in Central Europe. The league is made up of teams from Austria, Italy and Slovenia. # Germany = DEL (Deutsche Eishockey Liga) - German Cup # Switzerland = NL (National League) - Swiss Champion # Sweden = SHL (Swedish Hockey League) - Swedish Gold Championship (SM-Guld) # Finland = Liiga (Finnish Elite League) - Finnish championship (Suomen mestaruus) # Italy = Lihg (Italian Hockey League - Serie A) - Serie A Champions # Czech Republic = Czech Extraliga (ELH) - T. G. Masaryk Cup
