Was this the WABI? Do you still have it ? I was thinking about pulling trigger on getting one, but trying to decide between a WABI, or Sate Bicycle.

Love nightly bike rides, less car, less noise and more time alone with the wind in my face. Though i avoid doing that in the weekends, cause that's when you have the most drυnk drivers!

yesterday I was riding over hills with some gradient on a fixed gear bike, whereas the majority in germany seems to ride electric bicycles😄 Singlespeed is nice because you can coast. Even on my roadbike I have a 1 by 10 gear system at the moment

Hey BB, from my side of the lens it looks like your brakes need to be adjusted, just an observation. You should have kept that crosswalk button, that way when you come across those red lights that won't change you can simply press your button and make it change! 🤣🤣🤣

In this day and age, smoke detectors should be rechargeable. Even my 110db bike horn is rechargeable, and it lasts for a whole season at minimum, probably last for couple seasons without recharging.

Bad idea! The real issue isn’t the battery, rather the sensor wearing out. After 10 years, the sensor may not detect properly, and the whole unit must be replaced.

6:15 I question your choice to move to the center lane, as it seems to me you subject yourself to impatient drivers merging into your lane after the light. If you were in the right lane, I suppose you’d have to worry about right turning cars cutting you off as you go straight, but it seems preferable to me than having to worry about cars on your left and right at the same time. What do you think?

Great video! Stay safe out there! I have no idea where you are, but those are amazing gas prices! 😆 I haven't seen anything below $5 a gallon here in LA since COVID... It's only getting worse and more expensive, some places are about $10 a gallon!! Insanity! Financially it's hard here in LA and bike lanes suck, so whoever commutes on bike and skates pretty much has very little options on the streets and the drivers are crazy and selfish... Public transportation takes three times as long, So pretty much a 20-minute commute would take you an hour and a half minimum with public transportation.. It's terrible I wish cities cared to make better bike lanes Santa Monica did an amazing job during COVID the entire city of Santa Monica is amazing after COVID and completely did ALL their cities lanes in an amazing way, All other places should take notes lol

I have two questions. One how do you deal with flat tires? And second how do you deal with riding on higher speed roads where there is no bike lane and sharing thr road with vehicles. That makes me really nervous, especially where I live. Drivers are often hostal towards bikers.

I would call this "I just bought my first hybrid bike, let's ride together". This is what I imagine people sound like in April and May when they buy their first bike with multiple gears and they are riding. some will get used to it and others will give up and let the bike collect dust. This is why I think 1x systems are great. Seems trivial but it would lower the bar of entry by so much for so many.

Anything new is hard. Right shifters are for the rear derailleur. One for up one fir down. The left is for the front derailleur,up and down.

Single speed for life Too much to think about with gears. This is why I love single speed, just get in and go. No thoughts, just enjoying the ride. Gears take away from the experience if you’re not racing

I get it, but some of us are better at thinking than we are athletic. lol. Although I have never ridden a single-speed bike, I would think it would take much more physical energy throughout the course of a ride. I am new to cycling and not in shape (yet). Couldn't imagine doing my rides with a single-speed. I have enough trouble as it is. :)

  • @brosettastone7520
    @brosettastone752028 күн бұрын

@@icspi1970 it doesn’t because you quickly learn how to be energy efficient, where to pace yourself and when not to, which only brings even more joy to the experience, you can always run a lower gear ratio like 42-16 if you need to climb a lot. Try it before you knock it 🙂

The bugs are the cicadas. This year is the emergence of 2 different brood years at the same time. In the Chicago area this is covered every night on the news. For shifting, I remember on my 1980 ten speed bike with shifters on the downtube. The left one shifted the front derailleur and the right one shifted the rear derailleur. Moving the lever forward shifted into the smaller chainring/cog. With sifters now integrated into the hoods, it is possible to shift both the front and rear derailleurs at the same time. You'll get used to it, it just takes some time.

  • @BitterCurrant

I went through the same thought process for the shifting haha. At some point, I reasoned out that each paddle (2 little and 2 big, 4 in total) acts in pairs, and each pair acts on a single wire and relies on chain tension to actuate either the chain-ring (front, bigger gears) and another to actuate the cassette (AKA sprocket, rear, smaller gears). Each pair either tighens or loosens the tension on the wire. To accomplish what you mentioned would complicate the wiring of the bike, but it can be accomplished and will require longer wires. It'd be similar to actuating the flight surfaces on an aircraft. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flight_control_surfaces

Re: trackstanding on a bike that's not a fixed gear I saw a video of a guy on a road bike, waiting at a traffic light, hands off the bars, and he had his front wheel angled to the left while he controlled the back and forth motion with his right foot directly on the tire.

I rode for the first time in weeks today and on a bike I've never been on before. I spent pretty much the entire time trying to learn how the shifters worked. Every time i thought i had it, I'd try and go up or down a gear and end up pressing the wrong control. LOL

I just ordered an Origin8 50mm expansion plug. I thought that all current manufacturers designs had a lip on top so that the plug could not fall down in to the steerer. The plug featured in this video looks like an Origin8 plug, but does not appear to have that lip. I am hoping that the newer Origin8 ones have that lip--does anyone know?
