Jersey Mike's Rail Videos
Jersey Mike's Rail Videos
KZread channel devoted to the mostly railroad related videos taken on my many outings. While my personal specialty is railroad signaling and interlocking technology there's not too much of that here as such things don't tend to move around and need to be captured in video. Most videos are taken in the Northeast United States, but I do get out on the road a good deal.
If you like my signaling and interlocking videos check out my Photo Blog posts or my direct photo gallery directly at: the links listed below.

That’s actually 221
Whoops!
KZread at 3 am:
This is a very bumpy ride. I had to look away after a few minutes to avoid getting dizzy or nauseous.
do they still make 25hz transformers they look new
@@somesfs170 yes and most have been replaced recently.
Love that whoop sound
Are those the eows 612's going off bc it sounds like an electromechanical siren going off instead
Freight manifest trains must not use this right-of-way, because the track geometry/alignment is absolutely flawless! If it wasn't for the title of the video, I would swear this footage was taken somewhere in either Europe or some Asian country like China or Japan.
Why didn’t the Silver Line show up in this video? Why was it the Orange Line instead?
Due to track work?
When was this filmed right on the weekend? Years ago?
Not good!! At least she didn’t want her picture taken! But it’s not her job to do that
Nice video..went over the bridge for 2nd time today
It's a fun ride!
That was different
Poop hit at 40:19, 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Where are the controls for the third rail collector shoes
Hey, I was wondering if we could use the photos of the hot box and dragging equipment detector equipment on the Position Light site for use on the defect detector site. I help out with the site and think your photos, especially the ones of old HBD equipment in Amtrak towers, could make really awesome additions. Proper credit would be given, of course
Sure thing and thanks for reaching out. I would encourage you to download and re-host the images as the current web hosting might not be stable long term. I won't niitpick how you credit me aside from linking to my blog at position-light.blogspot.com/ as that is where my value added content is. Feel free to link into various topics or pages ,like towers or specific towers.
BTW do you have a link to your defect detector site? I also have some photos of the frangible dragging equipment detectors on the old TN Pass Line and current Moffat Tunnel Route.
@@PositionLight Thanks so much. The site is defectdetector. With a Dot net after detector (KZread's weird with links in comments). I think I've seen and downloaded everything detector related, but I'm going through everything once more. Thanks again
@@bali2516 I have quite a few detectors documented. Let me know if I have to submit them manually or if I can just send you a zip file or something..
@@PositionLight I’ve downloaded detector photos from the CN Bessemer sub, Cork Tower, Exeter NH, Paoli Tower, the RBMN, State Tower, Thorn Tower, and UP TN Pass sub. We’re mainly interested in the old equipment. If you have anything else that’s not on the Position Light, you could send it over through the Contact Us section on the website
Is this on the Harrisburg or Reading Line?
NS Harrisburg Line, formerly Conrail Harrisburg Line.
0:26 NJT: I gotta get outta here
They need to bring the toast back
Cool
I operated the juice train in the early 80's for Conrail on the NEC. It's maximum authorized speed was NTE 70 mph, the same as the mail train. We were given the railroad all the way overnight until passenger trains started running again, then it was: 'take the siding.'
Those were the days.
Why are the tracks at a different height?
I think either the town wanted more noise abatement for diesels or it was to mitigate the sharp grade north of town where the Bridge Line would climb up to the PRSL main line.
Two different rail systems.
I remember when an engineer went through a red light on the Newark Bay Bridge and went through an open lift and plunged 2 Locomotives and coaches into the bay killing 48. it was a Bay Head to Jersey City train. i was 7 years old and I remember the picture of the coach hanging off the open span .
big rail fan BUT I have no idea what the WEST AY is....can you give more details as I only know that Amtrak trains between the 2 Richmond Va. stations are often tied up for a long time and subsequently run late....thanks
West apex of the wye directly south of Acca Yard.
Great catch

👍👍👍❤🤍💚
Do you have any recent videos from ladt year and this year?
No sorry.
@@PositionLight Will you have any soon
Metrolink needs to invest in some reliable GE
This was due to a perceived problem with the cab cars.
Cool.
I very fortunately saw Amtrak 164 on Texas eagle 21 on Saturday!
U seen the caboose that got off dat switcher 😍
I operated freight trains for Conrail in the 70's and 80's and was held at the home signal for thru-passenger (Amtrak) trains to pass before crossing over. One summer's night, the conductor and I sat eye-level with an open window and saw a couple in an apartment in the act. When they finished, I gave them several (low) toots on the horn as a sign of appreciation.
Nice catch Mike and did you meant to put down the "dash -"
I hope 312 will be the Coast, starlight
Is there some reason there's a cut here? Why couldn't the tunnel have just bridged this area and homes rebuilt over it?
Although the line was electrified when built, it was still just a steam assist operation so the cut was needed for ventilation.
The antique that still works.
Lady conductor.
Boys dream:
Welcome back 312
What happened to it?
Этот трамвай очень шумный!
312 IZ BACK
It went somewhere?
Fantastic video
I miss these so much
We all do
Wow do that again on bypass mode
Engineer had vanilla and chocolate in the cab!
Does it contain toxic PCB oil? It was widely sold in Germany and Brazil between 1920 and 1980 before being banned in Brazil. But it looks intact for being from 1930.

Know if they really wanted to make it the way it looked when it first came here. they would’ve put the original wheel trucks on it.
How are the current ones different?
@@PositionLight around 1993-94 they started to replace the original trucks with the PCC type wheel trucks. The trucks currently on the Suburban LRV's are a simular design to what the city kawasaki's had
The trucks are the same the wheels where changed . The red arrow cars still have the original wheels the city cars used to have.
