    I love the ocean so much , I’ve always wanted to go scuba diving , however I’m also very scared because I’ve never been on a boat before let alone been deep in the ocean , I live in California and always go to Santa Monica or Pismo …. hopefully one day I’ll get over my fears and experience this one day

    If you ever have the opportunity to travel to South Florida, consider an introductory Discover Scuba Diving day in Key Largo, FL. It's a one day class/pool/ocean. The water is clear, calm, and warm. And you'll be with an instructor the whole time, diving in shallow water. It's a great way to experience scuba diving. If you Google: Discover Scuba Diving Key Largo, you can read about it. Good luck. It's a life changing experience.

    I don't understand this, if all the air is out of the BCD and the proper weight is in the pockets and we're at neutral buoyancy how does one descend?

  • @M.M.M.M.M890
    @M.M.M.M.M8902 ай бұрын

    You descend by exhaling. You do this type of pre-dive weight check with a normal full breath in (around 80% lung capacity full), and you should float with water surface approx. at eye level. When you exhale, you descend.

    The specific gravity of fresh and salt water are different. BTW the tank should be nearly empty, air has weight, just simply pick up a full one then an empty one. If you follow this procedure with a full tank as you use the air, you will become more buoyant with each exhalation.

    Video is wrong. The way to deal with a serious freeflow is to turn the tank OFF. Open and close the valve as needed for air. This saves ALL the air, and eliminates catastrophic air loss. Work on learning to handle your own valve. This should be taught very early in open water training.

    After years of spitting and fogging - I finally found the secret. I would fog every 5 minutes - now I snorkel with the same old glass lens mask for an hour with zero fog. Sometimes I think it might be fogging, so I look above water and realise it's the water as the lens is crystal clear. The secret is Johnson's baby shampoo (other brands might work - I have only used Johnson's and it works). Before you dive in smear a few drops on the inside of your lens - making sure it's well covered - now a quick splash rinse and you're good to go. Try it! Say goodbye to fog for good!

    @@Iazzaboyce this but dont rinse. no need to and it negates most of the good that putting it on in the first place does. grab a travel size bottle for ~$1, throw in your dive gear and wont need another one for a long time

    @@playersrun1 I was wondering about this because I also use it on the bathroom mirror (for shaving) when I polish it in without rinsing. I'll give it a go.

    Got my first scuba set up when I was 19 and had 0 experience at all. I was way to over confident my first time and jumped in Lake Ontario as soon as I got my tank (from the 1900s) filled. All went well until my cheap China goggles fogged up extremely bad, which induced panic. I remember not knowing which way was up or down and was too afraid to take my goggles off under water. After what felt like hours (5 minutes) I pretty much did exactly what was taught in this video and was able to swim up (way too fast of course).

    Burn the glass with a lighter or small blow torch. Very important with a new mask. You need to remove residue from factory. Don't worry the skirt should be silicon and it won't melt or burn. Then give it the toothpaste trratment. Repeat a couple of times. Then good ol spit before dive.
