gotta try this. We live in a two hundred year old house, and so, apparently, do the mice. A house this old has numerous gaps from connected closets, chimeys, even walls. Only within the last three or four years have we been overwhelmed in the kitchen by 'visitors'. they've learned to avoid expensive traps, and they LOVE peppermint (altoiids are their favorite), the only thing left to try is baking soday and flour. maybe with a bit of sugar to get their attention...

My house is infested with mice, but I have a dog, so I didn't want to use poison or snap traps that she could get into. Last night I put out baking soda and flour in the kitchen and living room. Fingers crossed.

I took care of a mouse problem with the plaster of Paris approach a year ago. (Just saw this video now, curious if others had achieved similar results). What I did was mix about a quarter pound plaster of Paris with equal amount of all purpose four, but I wanted to be extra aggressive and added to the mixture about a 3/4 tea spoon each of sugar, ground nut mixture (almonds and macadamia nuts), and carnation instant breakfast chocolate powder (all three of these combined was probably about 2% of the whole mixture). I’m no expert, but intuitively the tiny amount of chocolate, nut and sugar mixed in would make the poison completely irresistible and make the rodent consume way beyond its appetite, just to get that sugar, cocoa and nut flavor, like an irresistible dessert. The poison definitely worked. I don’t know if my extra ingredients really added anything, but pretty sure a rodent would gorge itself once it got a that flavor in its mouth.

About your missing trap. I saw another YT video, where the rat died in the trap, but a possum came along and dragged the dead rat, trap and all away to eat it. Possums are rat eaters and beneficial.

Sorry plaster, baking soda don’t work they eat that like it was candy Decon don’t work because its child and dog resistant, for some reason people believe that a mouse is completely dry, that it has no fluids in its stomach. It would die if it ate the plaster in the very beginning, it don’t need to go drink water it has liquid in him “it don’t work” NO! Get real Poison and mix it with peanuts peanut butter so it will lick it and die

they somehow get to the attic and we have stone exterior with filters in all the vent holes so not sure how they get in there but they do every winter. No trees or anything that gets to the roof.

WARNING... if you use something that KILLS them... like poison, Plaster of Paris, Baking Soda and they end up dying where you don't see them, inside your foundations hollow spots, in the attic, or inside your walls (most likely)... if flies get to them and lay eggs on their rotting bodies you could end up with major fly infestations... that's happened to me 2 years in a row, in the spring.

I'm at war now in 2023. Thank you. I used sugar, jiffy corn mix and baking soda. Oooh and chopped up a piece of old chocolate. I used a box that I cut long wise and put the concoction in it and put it in places where mice go. Its hidden from foot traffic and a toddler. Thank you!!!

Would boxrd pancake mix be a replacement? Arent flout and baking soda/ powder part of it already? Although ive had mice bite into big pouches of raw cookie mix and i doubt it did anything. Trying peppermint oil sprays and soaked cotton balls this week. I have an open entry hole on myclower garage frame they chewed through so hopefully it repels and forces them out with the peppermint smell.

Using this method I caught a rat the size of a dog. I first thought it was next doors dog Fido. But on closer observations I found it to be a rat. Also I saw Fido urinating on our cat Fanny (yes we have a cat called Fanny, well Francesca but Fanny for short), and that's when I realised it can't be Fido. It must have been a new breed, a dog-rat hybrid of some sort. I assume at some point a dog mated with a rat, after falling in love with each other. I don't know how or when, but I can't think of any other way a rat could get so huge. Someone said, oh it could be the rats stomach expanding because of the baking soda.. but then how would you explain the legs, head and rest of it. Anyway I found it dead at the bottom of the garden, so I buried it. Gave it a good send off. You know. I haven't seen anymore rats or anything of that sort. So this really must work. Or maybe there was only the one dog-rat to begin with. Who knows.

I tried everything to get rid of mice/rats while under pressure to capture them live and then haul them to woods to let go. The neighbors in my community do not want anyone to use poisons cause of toxins being transferred to birds who eat the dead mice. I loathe the rats and am using this tonight, will add it to a Tom Cat dispensing box. The rats piss all over and make noise at night. I ordered an electro shock instant kill trap device which should come tomorrow. It says non toxic instant death. I have closed all ways into my place, never found their entry. If neighbors won't help cut the population I don't know what I can do. I hate it. Called pest company, he said "I can charge you a lot to set up traps but if neighbors won't do kill them and you live near vineyards, the rats will just keep coming." end of the world by rats scenario.
