Aaaaah, the film that made me want to believe in God when I first watched it as a teen. Who would have thought.
Great film
RIP This channel. Again.
The movie that makes grown men cry!
Ricks is made to resemble "the Mission Inn" in Riverside California... Riversides Fox theater was regularly used to prescreen movies to test audience reaction...
Yeah, bro. We have more movies like that. Elite Squad Elite Squad 2 The Enemy Within Carandiru Federal Bank Heist Stomach : A Gastronomic Story.
Quentin Tarantino got his naming idea from this movie, for Reservoir Dogs. Mr. Blue, Mr. Pink, etc.
David Shire did The Conversation, Zodiac, and All the President's Men
Walter Matthau: The Odd Couple, The Fortune Cookie, The Front Page, Bad News Bears, The Sunshine Boys, Grumpy Old Men, Hopscotch, Charlie Varrick, Charade.
Robert Shaw: JAWS, The Sting, A Man for all Seasons, From Russia with Love
Great movie, but you kinda ruined it by predicting everything. We watch you to watch and react, not predict.
It's an amazing period-piece film. It really feels visceral and all in place. Master film making. David Thewlis's character was my favourite. Real-life Paladin.
I hope this isn't your last film. I just watched this for the second time and I enjoy your insight. Please react to more! Thanks!
For James Spaader, try "Wolf" with Jack Nicholson
Dr Marvin named his son after Freud, and his daughter after Freud’s daughter Anna, another psychiatrist.
“Suppose they went nowhere!” “Then this will be your chance to get away from it all”
The russian Ambassador also was the south-african consul in Leathal Weapon II
If you like the transitions, havea look at "Highlander"
The film Submarine was also used in "Raiders of the lost Arc"
Rush is the next car movie you should discover and enjoy at full throttle !
Fun-fact (as you asked yourself about the models): Steven Spielberg later borrowed the surface model of the Boot for "Raiders of the Lost Ark"!
13th Warrior is the best Movie no one has ever seen......sad but true.
Saw this in theater, came away feeling that there must have been a meeting...we need to move away from the original crew, go with the next gen, how do we go about that, well, obviously we need to get rid of Shatn, oops, Kirk, we need to get away from Kirk and crew, but with a few meaningless cameos, and Kirk need a heroic exit, okay, let's write a flimsy time travel story, with, of course yet another villain (can't have a star trek movie without a villain), maybe get some klingons involved, how about those buxom sisters, wrap it up with a fireworks explosion, and it's a wrap, drinks anyone? To be fair, there were some nice moments to in this, and some decent effects, although I think the whole planet crashing sequence has not aged well, the emotion chip was more a distraction than anything else, but led to a few light hearted moments, and please please bring back Sulu's daughter, and Alan Ruck, give them a ship and a crew, and some better stories than this, this was weak star trek on most every level, and leaves one dissatisfied, it felt contrived and manipulative without a worthy payoff, there were better stories to be told
This is actually one of the most historically accurate historical epics ever made. Yes certain things are added or taken away, the main character really existed, and he did hold off Saladin for a while, and when Saladin took the city he did show mercy to the Christians. Its also one of my fav movies too, this was way better than the theatrical cut and because the original cut was so bad this movie didn't receive the sort pf praise it rightfully deserved- if this version had been released instead
Great review of a great movie, Screenplay is pretty-much verbatim from the book.
"Delicatessen" is a movie of the same author, very original, quirky, but less less romantic(!), a little bit violent... kzread.info/dash/bejne/hptnuJqBdK6bl9I.html
Loved your reaction. Underrated. I don't ask 4 more. Just what's mine. Excellent reaction. ❤
Your take and appreciation is pretty acute, especially your appreciation of the script. Which is, maybe, the greatest film script ever written. Thank you.
"Everybody can become a police officer regardless of their background" ... Well, a mad man and a criminal can become a politician these days..
I remember this film being shown in schools.
You definitely deserve more viewership than you're receiving. You are respectable to the art of filmmaking and sincere. Keep it up.
Great review of a wonderful movie..❤❤❤
Of course Bond knows how to remove the atom bomb. He also witnessed how it was installed.
BTW the motorman is Matthew Broderick's father.
I love any movie where the old man still has his skill and experience. Never underestimate old age and treachery. It smokes youthful hubris.
18:45 they think they can fight, it was fun in the 90's
14:54 Best part for John Travolta. Iconic
If people want to see films like this, they deserve it
12:57 How many times must I write it, it doest mster
10:00 After T2 Hollywood paid attention
3:30 B2, STEALTH BOMBERS, F-117 = STHEALTH FIGHTERS
The mother of the wendol is based on the upper paleolithic venus figurine which is almost 30000 years old.
This is the most accurate depiction of life on a submarine, German submariners suffered higher casualties than Kamikaze pilots. The survivors hated the author of the book though, as he was pretty hard on Dönitz who they all loved. Dönitz was a Nazi, but he was also a good leader of men, he knew the names of all officers in the submarine arm, and he cared for them. And they rewarded that with undying loyalty. You probably do not know, but the US waged an effective sub war against the Japanese (who were amateurs at fighting subs), and the surviving captains of Germany and US subs would often meet after the war and strike up friendships. Sailors are sailors and the sea is the worst enemy (convoy) and submariners are submariners. Germans know how to make war movies; heroism futile, sacrifice in vain. Try Stalingrad (1993) and "Die Brûcke". There is also a Russian one "Come And See" that will traumatise you.
There is an homage to this film in the TV show Babylon 5. The scenes with the huge Krell machine where they are walking on the walkway is copied as the “Great Machine” on Epsilon 3, the planet that Babylon 5 is located near.
Hey Shan! I'm catching up on some videos of yours I didn't watch (suddenly occurred to me I hadn't seen any recommendations from you in my feed in quite some time). Looking at your page I found that your posts _GREATLY_ slowed down over the last year. Is everything okay? Life picked up in some other direction? All's well?
My dude, congratulations. You are the first reviwer I see to notice the reference in the name "GATTACA".
The scarecrow is the farmhand who advised her to use her brain, the tin man by the one who wanted to pose for a statue, and the lion by the one who told her to be brave but was frightened of everything.
The jacket Professor Marvel wears in the beginning was found in a thrift store when the props department was looking for a jacket that showed "faded elegance." When the actor put his hands in the pockets he found the nametag of the previous owner, L. Frank Baum, the author of the Wizard of Oz books.
Big James Bond Connection here Timothy Dalton : James Bond 007 2 bond films Topal : For Your Eyes Only Max Von Shadow : Never Say Never Again
The book does explain how Mr.Wickham quickly lost his affection toward Lydia and she eventually toward him...
I like your review until the end - where you try to make the film something it was NOT INTENDED to be. As well blame a short story for not being a novel. *Appreciate what IS!*
