    I'm on the petite side...I bought a barrel leg pant(slight pleated front) in black but and it looks great with light material for summer, also office proofen (in case its not extremely corporate) and it goes with most tops. It definately depends on the form but very content with my buy. 👍

    I'm soo patting myself on the back right now! I'm quite over 50, and I said "No" to everything you listed -- well over a decade ago. Though I did choke on the animal print making your No list, until you elaborated that it was OK as an accent piece (shoes, boots, bag, shirt, etc.). Whew that was close! I do love my leopard print Chelsea rain boots, and my low-heel leopard pumps! I've watched your channel for quite some time and I've incorporated several of your style suggestions into my wardrobe. Less is More! Thanks, and be well!

    I used to have the materialistic/shallow mindset and thought I had to purchase designer items at full price to get good quality. I'm so glad I've gown up and "wised up" now. I shop discount stores and have built an enviable collection of classic elegance. No one would ever suspect that I can put together a great outfit, underwear and shoes included, for $100 USD or less. And I do wear these items over and over. The classics never go out of style. I mix in the occasional trendy item, but I don't go all out and crazy over them. I have had great fun putting outfis together the past couple of years! The key is to buy items that fit well, make you look good and feel good! Just be happy, y'all! 🤪

    I’m actually in agreement with these tips (I don’t always agree 😋). As an over 50 creator I’ve been trying to be more aware of that I want to communicate to others by the pieces I wear. And one of the things I’ve been shying away from are ripped jeans. I own a few but having been pulling for them like I used to. I’m Adding some more classic ones to my wardrobe.

    I’ve followed you for a while and appreciate your advice but I feel you only focus on new, current clothes and accessories. (Maybe because you are focused on getting your followers to shop your sponsors?) However, at 60, I have some amazing vintage pieces and collections of things I love but don’t wear, for fear of aging my look. Examples include bespoke vintage purses, hats, and jewelry I don’t want to let go of; they’re unique, better quality than any of the luxury brands sold today and many are in classic shape for their era. I’ve stopped shopping new retail, opting for thifted items and found some gems but I’d like some help incorporating those special pieces into my look without dating myself. Carla Rockmore is inspiring to me but I don’t have her phenomenal closet nor exuberant personality to pull off her outfits. How can we incorporate bespoke special pieces into a modern outfit? again, the quality to price ratio is terrible and selection is too uniform). I’ve exclusively been thrifting for the past few years, finding interesting authentic pieces from many decades back. I’d love to see more from you on how to incorporate authentic pieces from other decades without looking dated. Examples could be those of us with collections of things we love but never wear because it’s hard to know how to blend a vintage showpiece with a modern up to date outfit. For instance, a 1960s Bakelite jewelry collection, accessories, fine leather gloves and purses from the 1940s-70s, custom cowboy handmade boot pieces that are authentic 11970s, 80s, 90s . .

    As for myself being in my late seventies and one who enjoys fashion and likes to stay current; my biggest challenge regardless that I am a classic dresser is not to look like I've raided my daughters or grand daughters closets so do appreciate your guidelines Leonie. i.e.: Though still slender, no oversized shoulder pads that at time I wore well when I had a waist .... lol!

    I'm petite, so I love purchasing cropped jeans, because they fit me just right as regular jeans, without the need to hem/cut them! 🤣😂 The barrel-leg jeans are just too clowny to me. 😛 I have a maxi chambray A-line dress that I absolutely LOOOOVE. It's also super comfortable. Just recently purchased a sleeveless denim snap button-up shirt dress (similar to 15:08) that I can't wait to wear! And found a really cute pair of denim overalls. Denim is one trend that I am excited about and fully embracing this year!

    Always love your videos & appreciate the information. That said, I still love my ripped (not shredded) jeans, usually just a knee or raw hems. I worked in a professional setting for many, many years & while I still love a dressy top, I think a more casual, edgy ripped jean works for my style. Will not be giving those up anytime soon. As for the other tips/trends, I agree with most of your views. Did those in the 80's, 90's etc and learned what I can & cannot wear. Also, like you, I don't want to look like my style never evolved & just pulled clothes out of my 20 something closet:)

    I think it's really common sense about not "dating" ourselves. I regularly look through my closet and at my body changes (I am 58) and decide that some items, even things I LOVE, have to "go". Our style definitely changes as we age and I think the point is to wear what you like and what looks GOOD ON YOU, but not to try to dress younger, embrace the outlandish runway trends, and dress for our LIVES. I could never dress formally for work anymore, because I only go in the office two days a week and work with folks who are SUPER casual. I like t-shirt dresses, paperbag waist pants with more fitted, stretchy tops (hide my meno-belly) and maxi dresses and skirts with great tops. I agree that accessories are ESSENTIAL. I use accessories sometimes to "match" an outfit or sometimes to draw the eye to my face, neck, or ears (those areas on me ar not fat! LOL). I love jewelry of all kinds and am obsessed with handbags and totes. Due to my job and my run-around, physical life, I can't always wear designer or super fashion accessories (like structured hand held purses or totes) because they do not fit my lifestyle. I am HARD on accessories. I love shoes, but with aging feet, bunions, arthritis in my toes, etc., I am very cautious about the shoes I wear now. I have to be able to put orthotics in ALL my closed toe shoes, and steer clear of super flat shoes unless they are for sitting at dinner or short walking distances. I am always told I dress well (I do live in NJ, so nobody here knows HOW to dress well) and I will give away a closet full of clothes if I feel they make me look less than my best. I cannot afford expensive items (Jenny Kayne - NO WAY, even with 15% off) but I do buy at discount stores and pair less expensive items with a few good pieces. Your videos help me understand what is "fast fashion" "high fashion" and fashion for the rest of us. Thank you! You are pure class and style.

    Embracing a trend, or living in the past? That's the question older lovers of fashion need to answer in how we present ourselves to others. I get what you're saying here. It's all in how you style it, and that's where care needs to be taken.

    As a 64 year old, my last best asset are my long legs. 😊I’ve recently added skorts to my summer wardrobe. With a matching colour top they can look almost dressed up, but with a striped top or colourful tee they are comfortable and more sporty. I find that with more leg on show I like to wear flats and be more covered up top.

    Regarding the matching leathers: I think a completely different colour looks current but a perfectly matching (belt and shoes, for example) can look great too. The issue is more when the colours are quite close but are the wrong tone (notoriously the case for tans!), that the effect can come off as “trying too hard” but missing the mark.

    For the LORD is the great God, the great king over all gods, 4 Whose hand holds the depths of the earth; who owns the tops of the mountains. 5 The sea and dry land belong to God, who made them, formed them by hand Psalm 95: 3-5

    Anyone else have a challenge with Birkenstocks? I love how they feel, but my stubby and slightly wide feet just look so clumpy with them on. Recently, then, I tried some other styles, but they just look too dressy for my lifestyle, and in fact made me feel older. 🤷🏼‍♀

    I love your striped top but I think the chain and watch are a little too much. The stripes, ring, bangle, earrings, even your tattoo are enough decoration. Why do you even need a watch and such a big one too? Less is more imo

  • @luluandmeow
    @luluandmeow8 күн бұрын

    Re denim, I really dislike the reworked, often boxy/bulky/weird shapes we've seen on the catwalks and the shops this year, I don't think they're flattering or keepers, they will fall out of style very soon and they just look bad imo. I prefer traditional denim styles: straight/bootcut jeans, trucker jackets, shirt dresses, western-style shirts, all modern classics and have been so for decades. Denim footwear is a definite no for me, but I love Levi's denim totes, they're the only denim bag I like and totes are also ageless, timeless and strong enough for shopping, I elevate them with bag charms and cool brooches.
