Seems to me the purpose of fishing is defeated if you have to use your hands to maintain control of your boat. Not to mention what happens if you lose connection in a strong current.
Gotta love that spot lock invention
Is that the motor that comes with it?
this blu sky is amazing. it supper stable. im in love with kayak fishing especially fish around the bridge for sheephead
Well I guess that’ll teach you not to go out there with the pedal drive in position just in case something happens to the motor. I rather pedal than paddle
Im 400 lb do you think it would be stable for me
Here ya go. Two pieces of 2×4s rip the 2×4 down to a true 2in and you will need two pieces 9in long. Drill your holes with a 5/16 bit and there is your cheapest option. And it works absolutely perfect.
Great Attitude & Inspiration ... Pleasure is all mine ... Keep up the good work and Gods plan...
Where did you get the rod holders for the orion
I keep my Paddle drive system on with my trolling motor Just in case something like this ever happens
Any update?
Yeah I am 6‘6“ tall and 380 pounds and I just ordered the unlimited. Thank you for your video. This is exactly what I wanted to see. I’m also going to be losing some weight. I played in football at 312 pounds. Wouldn’t mind getting down to 280. Great video
I was looking to by the boat. I know you got rid of yours but was there anything you didn’t like about it.
Thanks for this review! I am 350lbs and I've been trying to decide what kayak to get and this one seems to be a great option for larger people!
Should of had playing as background music, "leaning on his everlasting arms"!!!LOL
Really appreciate you putting your experience out there for us! I'm about 400# as well and have a nucanoe frontier 12. I agree, this kayak does preform well in terms of stability and paddalability. It will not win any races and in the higher seating position, you do have to learn to control your center of gravity, movements, counter balancing, etc. (As you alluded to). I've paddle this kayak from the low seat position (more typical of sit on tops) - stability was further improved, but I thought paddling became a bit more difficult. I could probably overcome this in time by adjusting my paddle strokes. My legs and back cannot handle this position as my legs cramp and fall asleep. I too am working on constructing outriggers. I still struggle getting on and off the kayak, and, embarrassingly, I dump the boat over 1 out of 3 attempts. Not pretty lol! I wondered if a tiller steer motor would be difficult for us larger fellas. If I'm honest, I struggle just to turn around or when picking my tackle box up off the floor. Dealing with a tiller, particularly needing to lean, seems rather cumbersome and unstable. I think a bow mount motor with a remote control would be a good option. Are you still happy with the frontier?
I sold it, but not before adding a Motorguide Xi5 and some High quality Outriggers. Love that combo. Worked great! I ended up buying a BSB Angler 360 Pro Catamaran. Loved it also. Recently Sold it. Not Fishing at the Moment, but I have lost down to 223. I may get a Hobie Pro Angler 14 at some point if I get back into it.
@@bigricksoutdooradventures6540 wow, congrats to you on your weight loss!
Love the review, I just got the exact set up and was wondering how it would do.. I am not a small guy either.. so thank you!!
How many pounds of thrust is the trolling motor?
Rick great video. Just getting into kayaking and just bought a Frontier 12 and Xi3. The deploy and stow system you have where did you get the tack eye bolts and track nuts and the pad eye? I have not yet took position of the yak waiting on parts and getting it rigged.
If I remember correctly I got them at Harbor freight
You start out with what you are doing instead of describing what you have on your boat. That's not a good Presentation
This video was in response to an issue someone else was having so I was describing what I was on my boat to talk about the added weight and where it was distributed. Plus I’m very detailed told every step I was making where I was standing just so this person could see how my boat which was exactly like his was reacting to my weight compared to his. Sorry it didn’t help you, it help him tremendously.
it's a lot more to the point than some guy talking endlessly about every modification. you can literally see what is on his boat, what more do you need
Big Ed 6’5” 388 pounds, were you able to stand without the out riggers, and now that you have the out riggers are you able to stand and where did you get the out riggers with the Hardware attachments. P.S. we know how much your way but what is your height.
I am 400lbs and got the nucanoe Unlimted. Its awesome. I had to quit kayaking for a while due to my size. Getting back on the water feels great. Keep at it.
Where did you get the trolling motor mount
good work out, 2.4 not bad
Is that the EPS motor system?
Thanks for sharing the video, can you share to specs on that motor, shaft length, lbs of thrust, I am looking to add one to my 360 angler. Thanks.
Xi5 55lb cut to a 36 inch shaft
Would you say that the Frontier 12 is a really stable kayak when standing and bass fishing and when sitting down? I'm looking at picking one up at the end of this month
Is the seat still have enough clearence to turn 360° now that it's been lowered?
Where is your pedal drive? Did you not get it or take it out? That would have been easier than paddling
How fast did you get it up to?
Maybe a stupid question but why do you want to lower that seat ? Isn’t it more comfortable fishing to have it up ?
Lowering the seat helps significantly with stability when moving about in the kayak. This is especially helpful when you're out in large or fast water with pretty good waves coming in to keep you and the kayak stable.
Looks like they could make a little improvement making the front of the pontoons flair up more?
Good luck on your weight loss journey. It will be one of the hardest things you ever do but it is worth it. Keep posting videos!
Well I was looking at that pro 360 evidently it doesn’t come with the foot powered I guess I will have to stick with the other 360 because I hate paddling. Question is what type of battery were you using standard deep cell battery or a lithium battery
lithium battery
I purchased 2 quick disconnects, mounted one on the high side of the frame and the other to the low side, but spaced the low one up 7/8” with schedule 40 3/4” pipe. Also left the seat swivel on. Worked great
I was all gung-ho over the 360 Pro. But opt out for the 360 Angler because of this happening. Rather peddle back than paddle. :/
Awesome video brother really enjoyed it. I am leery standing . Don't trust my legs but figuring if you can do it and me at 6' and 240 lbs. you gave me strength and courage. CHEERS from Canada!
Awesome bro!
If I wanted to listen to a music video I would have chosen one.
It’s was either music or hearing me grunt paddling that beast a few miles. 🤷🏻
Why not go bow mount with spot lock ? Thanks
I currently have an xi5 that I bounce between the Nucanoe and my Bluesky 360Pro.
Oh nice ! Thinking about getting the Frontier 12 with the bow mount myself.
@@richardkeller6940 I love mine. I have since bought a Bluesky and love it also.
Have you ever had this boat in the river? If so, How did it handle small rapids and current?
I haven’t had it in any type rapids. I have had it in Steiner current and it handle ok. Also in the bay when windy. It was pretty good.
Very inspiring
Thank you
Great job brother!!! Keep it up. Love the encouraging words!!
Thanks my Friend. I want to use the Channel for fishing, Hunting, but also Encouragement.
I want one of these sooo bad!!!!
They are nice. I have this one and also a Bluesky Boatworks Angler 360.
Good thing you had the paddle - at least!
For sure man!
This was the video I needed to see.I’m buying one
Nice setup brotha!
Appreciate it!
Frontier 12.
Do you still use your nucanoe? I’m a big guy too and your video convinced me to buy the flint 12 for duck hunting.
I do. I just can’t stand in it. I wanted one I could stand it. I will keep them both for different purposes.
I’d love to see more adventures in the frontier and more of your observations about it.
@@bigricksoutdooradventures6540 How does the stability compare to the Nucano Frontier?
@@3waver I can’t walk around on the F12 at my size. I can walk all over the blue sky. I stood up at 4mph.
Nice video. Hit me back and we can follow each other’s progress. I have changed out a few things on mine and currently have 2. Great video and can’t wait for more. Be safe
Great video man!! Love the song...did u record it or is it just stock music? You pulled that thing straight up that ramp like a boss! Well done!
I didn’t record it. It is royalty free stock music. Man I was whipped after pulling up that ramp! 😂
Fantastic!!! Congrats! Great video!
Thanks bro!
