Depends where you are, i live in a desert-like area with a man made reservoir but we have silver shad in it that we go and catch but i seem to have the best luck on cut blue-gill

I have been catching white cats in one particular reservoir here in Georgia for several years now while bass fishing. I’ve caught them on crank baits, jerk baits, Carolina rigged lizards, and shaky head straight tail worms. I make my own soft plastics. I earned a Georgia Angler Award in 2022 for a 5.8 pound 20”, and I’ve submitted the photos for one that I caught over the weekend. It was 7.3 pounds at 22.5”. The state record here in Georgia is 8.10 pounds. I usually lip the white cats, but the big one this weekend bit down on my thumb and wouldn’t let go. Talk about painful. I had to pry its mouth open with pliers. I’m going to start focusing on the spots where I’ve been catching them and give it my best shot at breaking the state record.
