I have perfect access even if I can't get under, I made a lift jig that goes in the corner hole.
If you can catch a railroad gang replacing a crossing its an excellent source of timber. Most times not real old and its free.
My experience is they won't let you have them because they sell them on the secondary market
I've found it works well to prepare for an on the ground install with an 18 x 24 inch hole about 6 inches deep filled with small to medium gravel/rocks about 2 to 4 inches above ground level and place a 2ft length of the railroad tie or a 6x6 ground contact pressure treated posts on the gravel. Then place the containers on the wood. The containers are fully self supporting between the corners. This allows for easier future leveling and consistent airflow under the unit. If you're placing them on concrete, I'd use 2ft 4x6s GCPT under each corner. Railroad ties or pressure treated posts are always a good idea. The gravel helps keep the wood from sitting in water for very long.
That's the best use for starby's coffee! It certainly isn't worth drinking.
How is the "bulkhead" end different?
Hi Davestaco, In shipping walls installed abeam (side-to-side) are called "bulkheads. The bulkhead on a container is just the corrugated wall opposite the door end. The corrugation on the bulkhead is more square than the side corrugation.
Store them can be a problem.. Advanced Storage did not want to store mine. They where also wrong on By-Law. Its an industrial zoned area. So now I'm in pursuit of another solution. Where are you located?

My grandfather was a section Forman for the Rock island R R ,he could carry two ties , one on each shoulder.....he was a BIG BIG MAN 😎
I have 2 - 20' containers that smell like noxious plastic fumes and such. Will this work for that type of smell? My smell is kinda harsh but I don't want to resort to strong chemical cleaning.
I bought USA Container - floors patched, few wall patches, felt could have been a little better for $2277. But they delivered & it does the job! Door closes with 2 people pushing. On a scale of 1-10, I rate a 3.5!

I don't get why you cut it in 2 at the door. Does the container sag or something so you have to jack in the middle of the 8 feet width?
Did you not watch the video?
Why only 2? Would it be better to have support in the middle?
Containers are only structurally supported on the corners
Beware of a sales place called Container One they sold me one that had the sidewalls puffed out 6 inches and was heavily damaged. They told me this was just cosmetic.
Those carriage bolts can be easily cut off. Better the weld the bracket on.
Cheap powder laundry detergent. Sprinkle all over the floor. Let it sit there until it disappears.
would this work with a strong chemical-type of smell? worth a try considering the risk vs reward. Thanks for posting. heck, by this logic, baking soda may also work.
@@freidrichnietzsche6643 I have tried it many times on gas spills from equipment as well as kerosene spills. Will not hurt to try.
put a concrete pier in and be done with it. Wood will never last.
Hi, I just bought two 20’ HC containers, I have a cement slab, but I was told I should still buy railroad ties so that the bottom does not rust, what do you think?
Hi! They are not required if you have proper drainage.
You can benefit from having air flow to help keep moisture off of the underside of your container floor. And you want it up off of the concrete far enough that it does not become a nice narrow protected area for a rodent hotel. You also want to protect your concrete from cracking due to the small footprint of the 4 corner contact points which are ~12mm lower than the rest of the bottom frame.
@@dittman2564But you don't need to lift it 6" to achieve that, that makes the in and out a pain
@@integr8er66 I have my 40' HC on railroad ties and keep motorcycles and tools in it, I don't have any issues,. I have a ramp for the OEM doors for motorcycles, and had a walk through door installed on the side, use a section of RR tie as a step. I guess it just depends on the individual as to what works for them or not. I basically had to put mine on RR ties.
I’m guessing you could flip it around for a left-handed user?
Muito bom seu vídeo 👏👏👏
You can use a hand saw and cut through all of the metal.
Great idea!!!

Do I need railroad ties since mine is going on a flat concrete slab?
no
Thanks for the tip to cut the cross tie in half for the door end!
Not accept I was 45yrs in this field Move water out if u can Corten if sit in the water or chemical attack rust will hit them
Thanks wasn’t ever taught how to close a c train and your videos helped me a lot. Forever knowledge!
I could have that off there in 5 min with minimal noise.
agreed
100% just use a hack saw to cut one side of the bolts off
Where can I get the Rvalue of the container in writing? We're building a reefer home and need it for town code. Thanks!
Reefer home? Wont you die in there if you live in there its freezing
I sell these units used in working condition or not working. Are you in need?
Ciao
We as professional (30 yr) container MR specialist have to disagree with your un-dent suggestion as it is not to correct way to solve the problems.
Should I cut out the rust and weld in new metal and then use rust oleum paint then what should I put on the roof?
I bought a 2006 40' container in Florida and mine smells like flowers? Could the smell be flowers or more likely bug spray? I'm going to using mine for storage and a garage, if it is bug spray is it okay to be in there for a couple hours at a time? The lable says it was treated using IM/Tailileum 300/2006
If a container sold to you did not specify it was Dry Van (used with dry goods) then it can very possibly be spray. We recommend airing out the container hours at a time if possible while the container is empty. If the floor is wood, that could very well be where the smell is coming from.
