Can anyone explain the purpose of the Lambeg drum ? It isn't a base drum for keeping tempo, it's not a snare drum for intricate drum embellishments to enhance pipes or flutes, and those competition pieces are impossible to even tap a foot to . So what is the point of it ? It must also do untold damage to the upper vertebrae of the drummer, you need a neck like a prize bull to hold it up !
@fangsalotmate4972 Жыл бұрын
Its a musical sport, the time and effort that goes into preparing these drums and the endless practice, with the only glory to be the best and a cheap cup, proper working folk a different breed

it's psychological warfare, bred on and for the battlefield. if you hear these in real life they were meant to put the fear of god into their adversaries. in my local town 5 miles away we can hear them quite clearly when playing. when you are up close, they hit you hard in the chest. the rhythms sound out of sync on audio recordings, but in real life they blend in and out of sync and its really very strange how it captivates you, going in and out of sync, hypnotising almost.
