I just did a dui lightning bolt with shiitake on one side and wasabi on the other. I thought it was going to be a total train wreck as I was trying to balance it on pvc in the outdoor sink. I don’t want the roosters hopping up and adding their own “colors”. I love the way mine turned out. To me it seemed they complimented one another. I think this jacket is beautiful. Many people love the more subdued colors…. But who am I?

TY for your scientific bent. It seemed to me, however, that you put more dye on the DOI shirt than the other. Maybe I misperceived, but both shirts are quite lovely at any rate.

Ok, now I gotta try this! :) I still have some dresses to dye (found some white dresses and skirt shirt sets at Target and Walmart pretty inexpensive, so I'll have a new, unique wardrobe for the school year! (I teach art in a high school).

I definitely think the size of the shirts is why they are different. I just tied a XL heavy cotton Gilden and its the same as Scotts. I mean the pleats aren’t as good as his😂 but they seem about the same size.

I absolutely LOVE this design!!! I just got my new hemostats and unfortunately they are all straight😔 I didn't see curved ones on Dharma's site, but was having difficulty w/ the site so...I could've missed them. Love the colors you used also!

I share everything. I hope watching me, good, bad and the ugly helps inspire others to achieve their tie dye goals. I totally get being a perfectionist. It’s hard to be that way in tie dye. Yes, if they are 100% cotton or any other natural fiber you can dye them with procion dye. Just like a t-shirt. ♥️🌈

Can you reuse the sinew?
Some people do but I don’t recommend it. The wax is pretty well spent. It’s not worth the risk of spending all that time to just have it fail. ♥️🌈

I like both the hypr colored shirts and the ones with a good amount of negative space. This is a lovely shirt.

So you said you let it sit for 48 hours. I'm wondering how did you keep it from drying out?
I keep it indoors. It might have dried along the way but I came back to it on the second day. Approximately 48 hours from the time I set it and forget it. You could lay the lid on top to try and slow down it drying out. Foil. Saran Wrap. It’s hard with the over the sink strainers. ♥️🌈

Thanks for your tips. I'm a newbie but I do have some exp. I tried tying last year but ended up doing a scrunch. Now It's a year later. I followed this but forgot to do the diamond, so it's a circle. I didn't know what the foam thing used was but I made one with craft foam n it worked. It came out so well. Tomorrow, im going to iron on a space Axolotl decal I got on temu. Also I'm going to try to make more like this n show my girl how to make them.

Great job putting this info out there! I have the small tip bottles, and I can definitely not recommend tapping and poking the dye powder into the mini funnel and bottle. Literally took me about 3-4 hours to mix 12 x 4 oz bottles (first time mixing procion dye). I will never get that time back that I wasted on it. Note to self: buy bigger bottles! LOL. Thanks again
The needle tip bottles are awful for filling. My favorite bottles are the 8oz bottles from Dharma. ♥️🌈
@@BelladonnaDyesCo hey I'm curious if you have any tips to make the rinsing part of tie dye shorter and less laborious? I have chronic health issues that make it challenging. Also my water takes forever to rinse out soap, etc. I usually use some vinegar to help. Do you know when or if it's safe to use vinegar with these procion dyes? I also spent maybe 5 hrs rinsing a couple shirts, ended up feeling awful during and afterward. Would love to hear some time/energy saving tips if you have any. Tie dye is fun, trying to make it less taxing physically.
@@Jessicazlee24 Unfortunately I don’t have any tips other than what I explain. It’s what I do…Tie-dyeing uses a lot of water. I let my washing machine do all the work. I’ve never used vinegar to wash laundry. I can’t advise. Once procion dye is bonded, it’s bonded for life. It’s not recommended to use bleach or color safe bleach. Beyond that I just don’t know. I know vinegar is used for many things, but I have never heard the dye company say to use it. I follow Dharma’s instructions. ❤️🌈
@@BelladonnaDyesCo that's incredible, thanks for the info. I thought I saw in your videos you may have gone to the washing machine pretty quickly. That's a relief that you let the machine do the work for you? That would be a life saver lol. There kept being more dye come out after I thought it was done. I hand washed lol, before washing multiple times with an HE washer (which may not be an ideal type of washer for tie dye lol). I've been watching a lot of tie dye videos, different people have different recommendations. Just got my first two batches of clothes dyed. Thank you so much for all the inspiring, informative videos 😄❤️👍👍 I need to work smarter, not harder 🤓

Some patterns require precision. For the most part though…. there is no “wrong” tie dye. 😁♥️🌈
