    If I remember right the internal one if you heat it up red hot and let it cool it can shrink past it original size, works some of the time.     It will start on a warm day just turn the key and hold it on till it starts. The heater plug burns air o start if you use it. Or air o start straight away it will start quickly. Tying to un addict it from that. 😀M

    Hi Marshall, well done for tackling such a hard job, I couldn't get the two bolts out of the alloy side plates when I took mine to bits,and the pan was all rusted away. so a side stepped it and bought one of those off ebay. keep up the good work Barry

    If you use airo start the heater plug burns it up before it gets in to the pistons. The heater seems to take a lot out of the battery. Best way to start it just turn the key and keep it there till it starts or the battery go's flat. Will start after a battery charge usually. If it's started every day it seems to start easer. Thinking about an engine rebuild sometime in the future. M 😀

    Hi Marshall, I have got my lathe up and going but it has a different motor from factory. The machine is always spinning in reverse. The motor spins clockwise which is the correct rotation for the coolant pump. Is there I way to reverse the machine or is the motor incorrect? Thanks

    @@jamesnelson1953 Yes fit a barrel switch that will give you forward and reverse. Watch my vid fitting one, 39min 30 sec in to vid.     If it's the starter you are referring to it just bolts on, no gasket same with fan blade. The starter is out of a Ford lorry that used the same engine and has key start rather than lever start. Which the tractor starter has. M 😀

    Just used PTFE to seal in to head. Found out a couple of weeks later I had an original one. M😀

    Hi Marshall, that sea air can cause some damage, you can get solenoids for about £25 and I got a replacement cap put on mine for £5, the auto diesel shop didn't charge for swapping it over. good video, I love the way you keep going when others would have given up long ago. keep up the good work Barry

    Well I don't have much else to do. A solenoid for 996 is around £40 I could by a cap and solder it in myself. I think it needs a bit more thought. I don't see problems just varying degrees of difficulty. You know will I have one cup of tea while I scratch my head or 2 🙂M

    Tip with unboxing, if it's being awkward, turn the box upside down and let gravity pull the contents out by lifting the box up.

    @@MarshallSmartI can understand that. You might achieve the same thing by placing it on the table upside down and lifting the box up gently. I used to unpack sizeable expensive equipment on a regular basis, and found this made life a lot less stressful. 😄

    Hi Marshall, they tried to give us that shit, when I phoned them they said they would defer it for another five years. your line speed, BT in renowned for lying about the line speed, when I would complain they would turn mine up and have to turn the neighbours down, then when he complained they did the opposite, it pays also to remember when they talk line speed theyre talking about bits, when we talk line speed we talk about bytes and a bit is 8X bigger than a byte, but talking in bits always sounds much faster. it's all a con mate! have fun, love your kitten, Barry

    Hi Marshall, very well done getting that back together in the wonderfull Scotish weather. those torque paterns are a bugger, I have know people clean off the heads of the bolts and put the numbers on them. You make a really good job of cleaning the faces up. now go and get a hot cup of tea to warm you up. Barry

    uiiiii head bolts has special criss cross patern and torx s when fitting so the head gaskets seals on the block . but fun to look when you work keep it up regards from sweden

    The copper gaskets are in the manual but recommend using Permatex with them. M😀

    Hi Marshall, that came to bits well, do you think maybe you could have a bad injector, thats over fueling the cylinder causing it to be wet from unburnt fuel? everything else is looking good. Barry

    There are bigger problems that an injector. The exhaust gases are getting in to radiator. Next 3 videos are on it.😀M

    These drums are supposed to be removed with a tube type puller that pushes against the splined end of the pinion shaft. The genuine factory puller has a very fine thread that produces immense force, even then though it's hard work.

    David Brown no simple way to do anything. The puller you mention is not showed in the work shop manual. It would have been good to have had a puller like that but I have to use what I have to hand. You should visit the Man From the Mist channel and see how he got the drums out. M 😀

    It's an odd chuck to use I think it would benefit from new jaws but Prat stuff ant cheep.The lathe runs at 0.0005" run out and I can get the Prat chuck to that with a bit of perseverance.M😀

    Alford near Aberdeen. Have a look at Barrys, The Man from the mist channel on KZread. The valve chest has about 9 different valves in it.. He has good technical explanatory videos. Also Path of discovery, Shane has a few good vids on his KZread also. David brown hydraulics are so technical. I did away with the valve chest and fitted a two way spool valve.

    @@heughsseanconnel7577 Watch my video here kzread.info/dash/bejne/fq5mrMaaoaraZLQ.html&ab_channel=MarshallSmart. Vevor 2 port 2 way spool valve I used but it's not straight forward. You would need to see if you have hydraulic pressure first. Which is done at the camels hump.

    @@heughsseanconnel7577 The camels hump and the return has to go back there to as it need to join the lube pipes in the gear box. You need to plug the exit to the valve chest also. This is where you do a pump pressure test. Same way plug the feed to the valve chest.
