    you showed that multiple sclerosis is in two different soc. how would i know which llt to select?

  • @MedDRAMSSO
    @MedDRAMSSO Жыл бұрын

    PT Multiple sclerosis, like approximately 40% of MedDRA PTs, is multi-axial (i.e., it appears in more than one SOC). PT Multiple sclerosis has a primary SOC assignment of Nervous Ssystem disroders (the prime site of manifestation) and a secondary SOC assignment of Immune system disorders (since it is an autoimmune disorder). When you are coding, you would simply select the LLT Multiple sclerosis as the term of choice. Its SOC placement is only relevant if you display your data at the PT level in which case you have to decide whether you want your data ouput to display only the primary SOC or all of the SOCs in which a PT may be found. I would suggest viewing the "MedDRA Coding Basics" webinar to get a better understanding of SOC allocation rules.

    If the reported verbatim is 'NSAID exacerbated respiratory disease', why do we code it to LLT 'Aspirin-exacerbated respiratory disease'? Aspirin is not the only NSAID we have. Moreover, the reported verbatim doesn't mention Asiprin specifically!

  • @MedDRAMSSO
    @MedDRAMSSO2 жыл бұрын

    Hello, the rationale was given in the session. This was coded using medical judgement as a placeholder in version 25.0 awaiting upversioning to 25.1. We acknowledge that the reported verbatim does not state ‘aspirin’ but the medical concept is broadly the same, with another more general LLT of Analgesic asthma syndrome placed under the PT Aspirin-exacerbated respiratory disease, which we could have selected. When coding it we knew that there had been upversioning changes made in version 25.1 to demote the PT to LLT under a newly added PT NSAID exacerbated respiratory disease, see screenshot of supplemental changes below. We showed this in the session, together with screenshots from TM lab showing the subscriber’s request text and the IMO rationale for the addition of the new terms. We stated in the session that although ‘aspirin’ is more specific, this LLT was a placeholder and the term would be upversioned in September.

    @@MedDRAMSSO What major and minor updates are done in the month of march and September what's tha main difference between both the updates?

  • @MedDRAMSSO
    @MedDRAMSSO2 жыл бұрын

    @@AshokKumar-ix5ov Thank you for clarifying your question. The MedDRA release in March of each year (e.g., 23.0, 24.0, 25.0) is considered a "major" or "complex" release because changes can be implemented at any of the five levels of MedDRA (i.e., SOC, HLGT, HLT PT or LLT). The MedDRA release in September of each year (e.g., 23.1, 24.1, 25.1) is considered a "minor" or "simple" release because it only contains changes at the PT and/or LLT levels of MedDRA. You can see the details of the changes which have occurred for any MedDRA release by 1. using the MedDRA Version Analysis Tool (MVAT) to compare the MedDRA release to the previous MedDRA release to see a spreadsheet of the changes OR 2. look in the Version Report which is included in the MedDRA release files - it has a spreadsheet summary of all of the changes in the new version. I hope that this helps.
