Your take on sorcery is odd. It's incredibly easy to learn, the official KZread channel for the game has a 15 minute learn to play video. Its not similar to magic at all gameplay wise either. Id rather you'd just left it off the list if your take would be this uninformed

There are two people speaking in the video. For this game, one of us had backed it since the kickstarter and the other perspective is from a new player trying to learn and get into some games. The distinction between the two should be obvious. However, I believe the latter opinion to be the most important, though. A new players ability to learn the game and have entry to tournaments is a large part of our scoring and a scene for this game doesn't exist anywhere around us. For each game we reviewed, we also tried it with a handful of other players across several tcgs that we play. This was scored unanimously as the lowest and was the only game to have people want to stop before it was finished. I didn't call it needlessly complex to be rude. It was just the only game people didn't feel they had a real grasp on without having to attempt to find an answer on google, an fb page, or discord every new turn. Their opinions aren't uninformed, they're uninterested. Current and former players for mtg, yugi, pokemon, op, dbfw/masters, digimon, cardfight, fow, and more couldn't get into it. Stores and resellers speak poorly of it's growth. Declining sales, declining interest in games, doubt in longevity scaring early investors into selling, etc. When players, investors, and stores are seeing rapidly declining numbers for the above mentioned, it's a red flag. Stores that carried in the beginning are seeing significant reductions in inventory or just firesold everything and stopped carrying them altogether. The stores that still have some singles likely aren't buying more as I checked the sales velocity on a handful of their remaining inventory and it's working with 1 or 2 copies sold a month. Like I've commented before, though. Us not enjoying something doesn't mean we want it to fail. We wish nothing but the best for anyone involved in the game.

I've been playing yellow since the games release and I've also been considering dropping the double striker in favor of adding more battle cards. I do run time rewound and Supernova but this list makes me super curious how it would feel to drop them for more death beams Thanks for sharing!

Try it out! It has positive win rates against everything so far. Variance in skill on the sim can happen but our local scene has competitive card addicts. Barely seen green on the sim when I was testing different lists but I would assume that's the rougher match up. Better win rate against Beerus, but games can be tight. Frieza and any other spam 20k aggro deck gets bodied. I have loads of gameplay I've been trying to record but our recording software lags for the fw sim. Hopefully put up some irl games if we can get some recorded this weekend.

@BerserkZeroYT Every deck has weaker cards than the rest, by comparison. 2c zamasu is the most cuttable card in this list. Piccolo has been amazing. The body isn't the relevant part. It's another card that generates value. Adding back sickles or galick gun is quality. Lightning gives it an edge against green decks. Beerus and Frieza are already decks I hope to see. You don't want to make good match ups better. You want to improve on weak match ups. Green can be hit or miss, but Broly is the green deck I like to see the most.

I’d call Black Maria and Gecko getting smacked. Those are what I hear the most complaints about. When they sync up JP and ENG releases it will be nice. Still seeing people nitpicking prices when it’s at or below MSRP. Folks will gladly pay $100+ for a BN of Pokemon which had pretty consistently bad QC.

Unpopular Opinion.. The Topps "Attax" cards, especially Force Attax and Match Attax are the best introduction to TCGs for kids, because you can actually learn to play them quickly.. They are one of the most sold TCGs as well

Everyone is entitled to their opinions but I love Sorcery, its not like most games but what it does have is flavor and a depth of decision-making basked into games, but it does have an availability issue and its releases are only once a year so we will see where it goes. But it really is a great game with fantastic artwork. There also is a 10-minute video to learn how to play the game but it does get complex but that in my opinion is the fun of it, but to each their own, but if you haven't tried it, look it up it is a fun game!

Yugioh is still selling more then every other game with exception to magic and pokemon. While I hate current yugioh tcg it's nice if you can play various formats you like. There is a reason their big tournaments are over 2k people and games like fusion world struggle to get 500 at a regional. Unfortunately some people like mike are still reeling from what happened to the game and all the time wasted so they will never forgive yugioh thought and prayers for sure though.

@dylanlink6890 The high attendance is only at their premier events. Daytona 500 sold out last year and performs well on a yoy basis. However, smaller, less prestigious events have seen a steep decline in attendance since 2005. Very similar to yugioh. Notice the deflection there. Very common among addicts. He mentioned the 400+ regional for dbfw by comparing it to a legacy game's Catalina wine mixer event. Tit for tat would be comparing it to yugi regionals, which has about 26 players. 4 of which are different players' cats. To his point, heroin does WAY better sales than yugi. It's not even close.

Not sure if I agree with the assessment that Lorcana is simple even at high level play. Specifically the selective mulligan and inking have a lot of opportunity for sub-optimal play, and knowing when/how to quest is also something that can take time to learn.

There are certainly elements that will separate the bad to the average, and the average to the good players. We just felt that in its infancy, it doesn't have as much nuance to it as some of the other games. You definitely have a fair argument.

My favorite thing about the Digimon tcg is the foiling on the alts, best of any tcg I've played. The foiling texture on Bloomlordmon having rose patterns? The halos around Shivamon? Great stuff. The art itself is also very solid, for the alts at least.

@@ToxicStallGaming It is designed with MTG style in mind how cards read and feel. But has a “mana” system similar to fusion world. Any card can be used as mana but you pay cost all at once. since at the start of the next turn you bring the cards you used as “mana” back to your hand. The comp scene get a lot of support!

Set 3 is adding a lot of nuance to the game. Very excited for it and we'll be putting out a lot more content on it. We'd have tons of gameplay videos on it, but I'm having issues with our recording software (obs) lagging during recordings on their simulator. Huge supporters of it and hoping it picks up, too!

Don't let my disdain for yugi stop you. Yugi is still widely played and putting up good numbers for their larger events like nationals and ycs. It's definitely not for me, primarily from issues with gameplay, but also the newish time rules for tournaments, weak prize support, and a myriad of other reasons, but a lot of my complaints are just opinions, therefore subjective. Love that you enjoyed the video despite Shadowverse not scoring too well with us. Like I said in the video, I wish we made a category between Shadowverse and Sorcery because I actually enjoyed playing Shadowverse and will be looking into other decks outside of the ones we picked up to learn it. Play what you enjoy! 😀

Thanks, man! Always appreciated! Glad you liked the video and congrats on your top 8. We had a handful of suggestions for games, and we left out a decent chunk that we had up for consideration. Some to let them have more time to simmer and see how they play out. Others were dead games that wouldn't score well based on our metrics so I thought it'd be unfair to mention them. The list of games we wanted to wait to include in a potential part 2 where we see where they fit in the first list are currently: Grand Archive, Union Arena, UniVersus, Final Fantasy, Battle Spirits, and DB Masters. We also tried to figure out if Kryptik is alive or dead, as that one also looked interesting. Did a bit of research and found out they said a few months back that they got a new publisher and a new set was coming, but you never know.

@@tylersumners7770 That's fair. I played Yugi since its inception. Factoring in some breaks in the game, I played for a total of approximately 12-13 years. During those years, it was also the only tcg I played. I forgave many of its shortcomings over that time. I'd argue that asking me then, as a current yugi player that would blindly support it through years of poor game design with seemingly zero r&d for power creep, would be a more apt definition of a biased opinion. Over a decade of knowledge and experience in said game should put me out of a category of having an unfair prejiduce to it.

@@tylersumners7770 Definitely agree with having a recency bias towards One Piece, though. I enjoy it and Fusion World so much that I got blinded and wanted them both as goats of tcgs. They still have a lot to prove to see if they can stand the test of time. Longevity is king. It does stem from a genuine belief in both of them to do well and make it into the long term realm of competing with the big dogs after a decade or so. Can always be wrong, but hoping I'm right on those two.

The current rates for the reprint is about 1 set of mangas in a god pack thats 1 in 10000 packs. I dont expect the new supply to change the price much

PRB only contain manga Nami... Unless you get a God Pack, in which you get 10 manga: Shanks/Ace/Sogeking/Sabo/Law/Kid/Luffy/Zoro/Chopper/Nami, but god packs are not something you need to worry about because they are crazy rare.

You have to pull an extremely rare god pack to get these reprinted manga rares and that’s for Japanese and English pull rates are different and we do not get god packs so it’s possible that manga rares wont be reprinted in English. I’ve watched many cases being opened and I have not seen one person pull any manga rare other than Nami.

@@michaelsokenis people are panicking about this and I believe it’s not bad in Japanese and it’s not going to be bad in English. Even if it does bring the price of manga rares down then so be it. If the top card in a set is 500 dollars and manga luffy becomes 1000 then one piece is still doing better than other tcgs. Everyone loves pokemon and here lately the top chase cards have been around 100 except evolving skies but op05 is your evolving skies on crack. If these super high end manga cards come down and are actually obtainable by people like me then that’d be great. Not very many people have thousands of dollars to drop on a piece of shiny cardboard even though I’d love too I just can’t.

@@andrewjoseph5656 if the rates of hitting a reprinted manga is the same in English as it is in Japanese then it likely won't change the price much if at all. In JP the chance of hitting the "god pack" is 1 in 10000 packs or .0001% chance

From what I saw, God Pack are way to hard to get more than normal manga. Tbh, God packs are the things just for only Japan in most of the times. I'm sure people who sold their English manga now will regret later. And also there are some difference between original manga rares and god pack manga rares. So, I think the values for original manga rares won't be that much problem. But at the end of the day, it is just the business. As long as the players want more reprint, Bandai will reprint for the sake of the game growth because the game is pretty new. It is all good.

My local store started the first 5 sets selling at 120 a box. While more than msrp, I was willing to buy at that price to support them. Unfortunately, the last two sets and after one week with 05, they began selling at market price. I was unwilling to buy at such inflated prices. I’m glad I didn’t seeing the current market prices. After much searching for an alternative source, today I picked up 3 boxes of 06 and 3 of 07 for 68 each. I’m so glad I waited. My local missed out on my business for being overly greedy. 120 is doable, 170-200? Sorry no.

While I agree that nothing is safe now, I think for now Oda signed Luffy card is the safest high end card from regular sets. They haven't reprinted it in PRB-01 and unless they reprint it in 2nd anniversary set which is OP09, I don't see them reprinting it anytime soon. By the time they print PRB-02 it'll be OP17 or sth. I think Oda Signed might become even more expensive than Luffy G5 manga now seeing how it was reprinted in PRB-01. It's 1st anniversary card, super rare and the only signed card drawn by Oda. I think it's bout time it became the most expensive.

Like the content here but collectors make up 1% of the actually player base. Most players are happy about this reprint. I know everyone at my locals were stoked.

People that are exclusively collectors are a smaller percentage, but a lot of players are also collectors. We're happy about reprints and people getting an oppurtunity to play with more affordable cards. Mangas, however, are a luxury item that's also available with cheaper rarities. I think they should be treated as a pseudo reserve list for that specific rarity. Appreciate that you like the content! Not everything we put out meets the criteria for mass appeal 😅

Bandai has no business doing a Nanga rate god pack, leaders or AAs from the set sure. They are disconnected from thier consumers. Thanks for calling out the TCG Karen’s. First off they’re not even paying tax on private sales from TCGplayer. If you’re getting product at within 10% that fair. People want stuff for cheap and 99% of your LGS are not big corporations.

If you are buying cards as an investment/trying to make a quick buck I have no sympathy. This makes collectible cards more accessible to the avergae person and hurts the scummy resellers. Treating a card game as an "investment" and not a card game has been the problem. I also don't even see how this is a big deal, if there's 10 mangas and they're 1 per case (which we've seen only seen them in god manga packs in the east at the moment, only nami is one per case), the recent reprints which included mangas will have added more into the market than this set will have.

For Japan they’re getting these manga packs where all 10 cards in the pack are the set of 10 mangas… English has yet gotten a “god pack” as we haven’t gotten japans leaders packs in sets… prolly won’t change the price of mangas with this set as we won’t get them and it’ll be replaced by a weird treasure rare or something 😊

God packs rarely happen in the English TCG side of things, but let’s take Pokémon for example where they never did god packs but finally did for 151. I’d say there’s still a chance, but who knows

Maybe leader lock Gecko Moria to Thriller Bark type. It's definitely not broken in Perona or Moria Leaders. Its just too strong in Lucci. Lucci would take a massive hit just by banning Enies Lobby. So honestly my opinion is Morias fine and that's coming from a non Black player...

I think moria is fine for now. If something is still backbreaking 2 or 3 sets after it's release, it's fine to talk about a ban. This would be too early, though. Especially considering rp law is the most dominant deck in 07 and 08.

@BerserkZeroYT Every deck has weaker cards than the rest, by comparison. 2c zamasu is the most cuttable card in this list. Piccolo has been amazing. The body isn't the relevant part. It's another card that generates value. Adding back sickles or galick gun is quality. Lightning gives it an edge against green decks. Beerus and Frieza are already decks I hope to see. You don't want to make good match ups better. You want to improve on weak match ups. Green can be hit or miss, but Broly is the green deck I like to see the most.
i just can't believe how expensive OP04 Sabo has become. But like, every tournament black deck is using 4 copies of him now.

I’d call Black Maria and Gecko getting smacked. Those are what I hear the most complaints about. When they sync up JP and ENG releases it will be nice. Still seeing people nitpicking prices when it’s at or below MSRP. Folks will gladly pay $100+ for a BN of Pokemon which had pretty consistently bad QC.

Unpopular Opinion.. The Topps "Attax" cards, especially Force Attax and Match Attax are the best introduction to TCGs for kids, because you can actually learn to play them quickly.. They are one of the most sold TCGs as well

Everyone is entitled to their opinions but I love Sorcery, its not like most games but what it does have is flavor and a depth of decision-making basked into games, but it does have an availability issue and its releases are only once a year so we will see where it goes. But it really is a great game with fantastic artwork. There also is a 10-minute video to learn how to play the game but it does get complex but that in my opinion is the fun of it, but to each their own, but if you haven't tried it, look it up it is a fun game!

Wouldn't that be the same for any card game based off of an IP? One Piece at least has over 1000 named characters and is still ongoing.
A lot of the pro-Yugioh arguments sound like cope ngl. Literally all the other points are heavily against it, but "a lot of people play" so it's a great game? Nah, gotta disagree. A lot of people use heroin, but I wouldn't consider that a great hobby.

Yugioh is still selling more then every other game with exception to magic and pokemon. While I hate current yugioh tcg it's nice if you can play various formats you like. There is a reason their big tournaments are over 2k people and games like fusion world struggle to get 500 at a regional. Unfortunately some people like mike are still reeling from what happened to the game and all the time wasted so they will never forgive yugioh thought and prayers for sure though.
@dylanlink6890 The high attendance is only at their premier events. Daytona 500 sold out last year and performs well on a yoy basis. However, smaller, less prestigious events have seen a steep decline in attendance since 2005. Very similar to yugioh. Notice the deflection there. Very common among addicts. He mentioned the 400+ regional for dbfw by comparing it to a legacy game's Catalina wine mixer event. Tit for tat would be comparing it to yugi regionals, which has about 26 players. 4 of which are different players' cats. To his point, heroin does WAY better sales than yugi. It's not even close.
Not sure if I agree with the assessment that Lorcana is simple even at high level play. Specifically the selective mulligan and inking have a lot of opportunity for sub-optimal play, and knowing when/how to quest is also something that can take time to learn.
There are certainly elements that will separate the bad to the average, and the average to the good players. We just felt that in its infancy, it doesn't have as much nuance to it as some of the other games. You definitely have a fair argument.
My favorite thing about the Digimon tcg is the foiling on the alts, best of any tcg I've played. The foiling texture on Bloomlordmon having rose patterns? The halos around Shivamon? Great stuff. The art itself is also very solid, for the alts at least.

@@ToxicStallGaming It is designed with MTG style in mind how cards read and feel. But has a “mana” system similar to fusion world. Any card can be used as mana but you pay cost all at once. since at the start of the next turn you bring the cards you used as “mana” back to your hand. The comp scene get a lot of support!
Fusion world is incredible… pre topku and post banlist has been a blast I hope more people pick it up for set 3
Set 3 is adding a lot of nuance to the game. Very excited for it and we'll be putting out a lot more content on it. We'd have tons of gameplay videos on it, but I'm having issues with our recording software (obs) lagging during recordings on their simulator. Huge supporters of it and hoping it picks up, too!

Don't let my disdain for yugi stop you. Yugi is still widely played and putting up good numbers for their larger events like nationals and ycs. It's definitely not for me, primarily from issues with gameplay, but also the newish time rules for tournaments, weak prize support, and a myriad of other reasons, but a lot of my complaints are just opinions, therefore subjective. Love that you enjoyed the video despite Shadowverse not scoring too well with us. Like I said in the video, I wish we made a category between Shadowverse and Sorcery because I actually enjoyed playing Shadowverse and will be looking into other decks outside of the ones we picked up to learn it. First time seeing yal channel . White shirt guy love his attitude and outlook of card games in general , definitely understand why he says hes had so much success in tcgs.. fusion world has seen the bottom and i think only has upside from here .. mind u i got my top 8 dueing topku and didnt mind tier 0 allowing for better event prep but yeah super looking forward to the future of it

Thanks, man! Always appreciated! Glad you liked the video and congrats on your top 8. We had a handful of suggestions for games, and we left out a decent chunk that we had up for consideration. Some to let them have more time to simmer and see how they play out. Others were dead games that wouldn't score well based on our metrics so I thought it'd be unfair to mention them. The list of games we wanted to wait to include in a potential part 2 where we see where they fit in the first list are currently: Grand Archive, Union Arena, UniVersus, Final Fantasy, Battle Spirits, and DB Masters. We also tried to figure out if Kryptik is alive or dead, as that one also looked interesting. Did a bit of research and found out they said a few months back that they got a new publisher and a new set was coming, but you never know.
So you don’t like Sorcery because you’re stupid? It’s pretty simple and thematic to learn. It’s by far one of the best designed TCG’s. Absolutely terrible take.

@@tylersumners7770 That's fair. I played Yugi since its inception. Factoring in some breaks in the game, I played for a total of approximately 12-13 years. During those years, it was also the only tcg I played. I forgave many of its shortcomings over that time. I'd argue that asking me then, as a current yugi player that would blindly support it through years of poor game design with seemingly zero r&d for power creep, would be a more apt definition of a biased opinion. Over a decade of knowledge and experience in said game should put me out of a category of having an unfair prejiduce to it.
@@tylersumners7770 Definitely agree with having a recency bias towards One Piece, though. I enjoy it and Fusion World so much that I got blinded and wanted them both as goats of tcgs. They still have a lot to prove to see if they can stand the test of time. Longevity is king. It does stem from a genuine belief in both of them to do well and make it into the long term realm of competing with the big dogs after a decade or so. Can always be wrong, but hoping I'm right on those two.
The current rates for the reprint is about 1 set of mangas in a god pack thats 1 in 10000 packs. I dont expect the new supply to change the price much
PRB only contain manga Nami... Unless you get a God Pack, in which you get 10 manga: Shanks/Ace/Sogeking/Sabo/Law/Kid/Luffy/Zoro/Chopper/Nami, but god packs are not something you need to worry about because they are crazy rare.
You have to pull an extremely rare god pack to get these reprinted manga rares and that’s for Japanese and English pull rates are different and we do not get god packs so it’s possible that manga rares wont be reprinted in English. I’ve watched many cases being opened and I have not seen one person pull any manga rare other than Nami.
They likely will be reprinted in English as our card list is the same as JP
@@michaelsokenis people are panicking about this and I believe it’s not bad in Japanese and it’s not going to be bad in English. Even if it does bring the price of manga rares down then so be it. If the top card in a set is 500 dollars and manga luffy becomes 1000 then one piece is still doing better than other tcgs. Everyone loves pokemon and here lately the top chase cards have been around 100 except evolving skies but op05 is your evolving skies on crack. If these super high end manga cards come down and are actually obtainable by people like me then that’d be great. Not very many people have thousands of dollars to drop on a piece of shiny cardboard even though I’d love too I just can’t.
@@andrewjoseph5656 if the rates of hitting a reprinted manga is the same in English as it is in Japanese then it likely won't change the price much if at all. In JP the chance of hitting the "god pack" is 1 in 10000 packs or .0001% chance
From what I saw, God Pack are way to hard to get more than normal manga. Tbh, God packs are the things just for only Japan in most of the times. I'm sure people who sold their English manga now will regret later. And also there are some difference between original manga rares and god pack manga rares. So, I think the values for original manga rares won't be that much problem. But at the end of the day, it is just the business. As long as the players want more reprint, Bandai will reprint for the sake of the game growth because the game is pretty new. It is all good.
My local store started the first 5 sets selling at 120 a box. While more than msrp, I was willing to buy at that price to support them. Unfortunately, the last two sets and after one week with 05, they began selling at market price. I was unwilling to buy at such inflated prices. I’m glad I didn’t seeing the current market prices. After much searching for an alternative source, today I picked up 3 boxes of 06 and 3 of 07 for 68 each. I’m so glad I waited. My local missed out on my business for being overly greedy. 120 is doable, 170-200? Sorry no.
While I agree that nothing is safe now, I think for now Oda signed Luffy card is the safest high end card from regular sets. They haven't reprinted it in PRB-01 and unless they reprint it in 2nd anniversary set which is OP09, I don't see them reprinting it anytime soon. By the time they print PRB-02 it'll be OP17 or sth. I think Oda Signed might become even more expensive than Luffy G5 manga now seeing how it was reprinted in PRB-01. It's 1st anniversary card, super rare and the only signed card drawn by Oda. I think it's bout time it became the most expensive.
Like the content here but collectors make up 1% of the actually player base. Most players are happy about this reprint. I know everyone at my locals were stoked.
People that are exclusively collectors are a smaller percentage, but a lot of players are also collectors. We're happy about reprints and people getting an oppurtunity to play with more affordable cards. Mangas, however, are a luxury item that's also available with cheaper rarities. I think they should be treated as a pseudo reserve list for that specific rarity. Appreciate that you like the content! Not everything we put out meets the criteria for mass appeal 😅
@@ToxicStallGamingI think the manga reprint isn’t a big deal because all the reprints are marked with a stamp signifying they are wave 2. Hardcore collectors will only want the OG release. I think a lot of people are feeding into this panic narrative when there’s nothing to panic about it
Bandai has no business doing a Nanga rate god pack, leaders or AAs from the set sure. They are disconnected from thier consumers. Thanks for calling out the TCG Karen’s. First off they’re not even paying tax on private sales from TCGplayer. If you’re getting product at within 10% that fair. People want stuff for cheap and 99% of your LGS are not big corporations.

If you are buying cards as an investment/trying to make a quick buck I have no sympathy. This makes collectible cards more accessible to the avergae person and hurts the scummy resellers. Treating a card game as an "investment" and not a card game has been the problem. I also don't even see how this is a big deal, if there's 10 mangas and they're 1 per case (which we've seen only seen them in god manga packs in the east at the moment, only nami is one per case), the recent reprints which included mangas will have added more into the market than this set will have.
@PetraKyo This doesn't hurt resellers. If they bought a manga, it was to flip it. This hurt players and collectors who had mangas.
For Japan they’re getting these manga packs where all 10 cards in the pack are the set of 10 mangas… English has yet gotten a “god pack” as we haven’t gotten japans leaders packs in sets… prolly won’t change the price of mangas with this set as we won’t get them and it’ll be replaced by a weird treasure rare or something 😊
So we have some hope! Hopefully, this is the case. Reprinting mangas is just wild.

God packs rarely happen in the English TCG side of things, but let’s take Pokémon for example where they never did god packs but finally did for 151. I’d say there’s still a chance, but who knows

Maybe leader lock Gecko Moria to Thriller Bark type. It's definitely not broken in Perona or Moria Leaders. Its just too strong in Lucci. Lucci would take a massive hit just by banning Enies Lobby. So honestly my opinion is Morias fine and that's coming from a non Black player...
I think moria is fine for now. If something is still backbreaking 2 or 3 sets after it's release, it's fine to talk about a ban. This would be too early, though. Especially considering rp law is the most dominant deck in 07 and 08.
