If it’s so awkward trying to illicit this kind of information from patients, then that should probably be your cue not to ask in the first place. If a patient comes in with a symptom, ask what it is and just give them the remedy which 99% of the time is a course of antibiotics. Done. Send them the bill, and move on to the next patient.

The problem with this whole process is the doctor-patient relationship. No one wants to discuss this stuff with them. Patients tend to put their primary GP on a pedestal. So it’s bad enough to disclose this stuff to _anyone_ much less your primary care physician. We don’t want to have these conversations with someone we look up to. If there was a clinic where the patient could maintain their anonymity, then it would facilitate better communication. My GP is a woman, but if I caught something, I would just go to an urgent care in a different city, possibly even where the demographic was somewhat different. Then I could be assured of never having to look that person in the eye again.

There's no herbal cure for syphilis. On there she could have a syphilis 2nd stage rash for 3 months. WE don't know how many months we had that rash for, but it was for a long time.
