From my comment to Instrumental Version.. ."Salt Song." This version was powerful enough to revive the scene that I saw 55 years ago. As I was leaving port while listening to Hachijo-Taiko drumming sounsp8,

sound from Sokodo Port., my parents werevisually getting smaller and smaller and finally a point and vsnished. The noise of waves silenced the sound of drumming as well. Hachijo-Islsnd were fadinh into the horizontal line. A full moon came into view just above the line.

Stepping down into a llarge rroom close to tthe bottom of tthe ship, I opened my bag to pick up something to eat and drink. There was a letter in a rubber bonded sevseveral pencils. FrFrom my six-year-old brother, ssaying "GGood luck with yyour work. Good luck with yyour study. Write English."i burst into tears.

Hello Josh. Thank you very much for posting this up. You must have done your college thesis on wadaiko in American colleges! HAHAHAHA!! I was so happy to see this video and see how far collegiate taiko has come since I was a member of CSUN Jishin Daiko from 1995-1998. It is great to see the growth of wadaiko across colleges and universities in the USA and here is to hoping that it continues to grow and spread, bringing joy and happiness to everyone who gets a chance to experience wadaiko. Thanks again for the clear and quite thorough presentation!
