that was great, I hope people realize what good advice that was this comes from a guy that owned 6 car dealerships before i sold it all and moved to Newport beach CA.
100% agree on home field advantage. I rarely go into the dealership at all but did today because they had two specific trucks I was looking for. One was a used Trail Boss LT that was low mileage certified pre-owned and the other was a new Colorado Trail Boss in Sand Dune which they are the only dealer in my area to have that color. After driving the LT Trail Boss it was an immediate no go for me. Truck had a pretty severe vibration which I expected was tire related. I told the salesman to let me take a look at the new Colorado Trail Boss. After being gone about 5 minutes he comes back and says what if we put new tires on the truck for you. I said no, I'd like to see the Colorado. He brings the sales manager back after a few minutes and proceeds to ask me what kind of tires I would like, I said I'd like to see the Colorado. Finally they go to get the Colorado. Mind you, he asked me about a used Colorado when I got to the dealership and I said no, used prices are basically the same as new right now so in that truck I would only consider new. He comes in to let me know he as the Colorado ready and to my surprise he has pulled around a used Colorado Trail Boss with 19k miles for $39k. Mind you a new one can be picked up for that or less. I shook his hand, said thanks for your time and made a B-line straight for my truck.
Can I hire you to negotiate a car for me?
Sells people are psychopaths! I hate dealerships.
My last 3 new cars were purchased out of state over a 100 miles away instead of my near dealership. I saved an average of $5K because our local Ford dealer is famous for holding to the sticker price with no negotiating.
❤
'DON'T BRING CASH TO THE DEALERSHIP" - it's valid currency and might be more convenient for the buyer. Screw off!
If you shop online how can you see all the dealer prep fees and delivery fees etc?
Does it help if you are out of state to soften things a bit and say that you’re very flexible about driving to the dealership if we can make a good deal? I have not really gotten anywhere with a couple of dealerships that are 4 hours+ away from me, and I’ve been kind of surprised. I did my homework and I am not trying to empty their bank, and yet I can’t get people to budge. I’m wondering if distance really was the factor. Should make up a story and say that I have family there or something?
Very helpful
You are talking down to viewers....I won't be back....
Go at the end of the month when the dealerships need to meet their quotas.
So your saying always bring CASH! Gotcha
I asked a car dealership that I bought two previous vehicles from if they have a loyalty program if I were to buy a third vehicle from them. I’m still waiting for an answer
I enjoy going to dealerships , they shovel out the BS and finance games for hours , then I get up and walk away …
Why would I pay for tax, title, and registration at the DEALER? I pay for those things at the local License Bureau (DMV). If I buy a car from a private party I don’t give THEM the money for those items. We go to the License Bureau, transfer the title, and those government fees are collected THERE.
ACTUALLY MIKE the marriage proposal thing DID work for me I was eating lunch at my job when a girl came and sat at my table I said you want to get married Saturday? She said yes we have been married 40 years
You Better watch the cashier and the fund amount of of the items they have been normalized for Professional Stealing Services I think I haven't checked out the simple statement to get their own policy in our favorite
Don’t buy from dealers!
Gap and tire and windshield I needed that here in Texas refinery 😅 is it a good choice?
Why would I pay tax, title, and registration through the dealer if I’m making a cash purchase? Those are state fees. I should just be able to pay the negotiated price and be on my way. If I was purchasing through a private party, we would sign the title, and I would go to the county license bureau to transfer the title (the seller might go along to make sure the title was actually transferred), pay the sales tax, and the registration. The “fees” at the license bureau for all of this are minimal. There is no need to do this through the dealer and pay whatever markup they may try to build into the process. What say you? (Full disclosure: I used to work for what was at the time the largest license bureau in our state by volume of business, before they became part of the county system.)
I think it is a mistake to ask about prepayment penalty and take their word for it-read the documents because that s what matters
Do you have any mustangs? V6 please?
I've done it 5 times in the last 3 years lmao
I would also be careful to make sure you understand the taxes. We bought a vehicle and had a trade and they had the taxes wrong. With a trade, you should only pay taxes on the difference between your trade and the car you are buying. When the sheet was presented to us it had the full amount of taxes and not the difference. We sent the itemized sheet back twice before they got the numbers on the taxes right. If you’re not aware of this, it’s easy to get screwed.
Why should we believe anything coming from a car dealer!? There are so many thing customers are unaware of like hidden dealer incentives. The fact that you are doing these videos means you are aware of dealer scams. Here is a novel idea.....put your actual cost out there and negotiate from there! I have asked dealers for their bottom line out-the-door price and if I didn't like it, I left. They would later contact me and give me a lower price, meaning they lied the first time! You guys have created your own hell!
I told the dealer I'm not paying for all the upsell accessories.. not paying 2k for rear view mirror dimmer all weather rugs a d all the other msrp top dollar pointless things.... and im on my 20th car.. not worth the money..
I love this guys honesty
If it is cash there is no monthly payment you paid CASH
How do you buy a car without driving it first?
I would drive the car before signing any papers.
Until you wait for hours for the 1 finance guy to finish the paper work.
No cash? Why not?
Caravan is a joke when it comes to price offers
How about trade in . That’s not going to be 30 minutes
So why is the car dealer giving us advice? To move inventory faster? 🤔
Dang where did he go? Its been a year for an upload
Yup Bought a Mazda recently and they had all that for a total of $1995 I was not playing. They took all that off and got the selling price to invoice. I did tell them I want them to make some money but not gouge me. Finance manager was horrible and I nearly cussed him out. Told him to quit pitching the total wrap package (service, maintenance, wheel and tire protection) as I didn’t want it. I saw the real sell rate they had (5.9%) but they marked it up to 6.85%. But I could easily deduce I had a great buy rate. I told them I was going to refinance right away anyway because I knew I could get a better rate at a credit union. They quit trying to mess with me. The next day, they called me in again to let me know that they got a better rate and the same amount financed. I asked if this was yo-yo finance and if I had to give the car back, I will right away. They assured me no. I was curious, they got me at a 3.9% rate, mostly because I’ve had great history with Toyota motor credit, saw that coming.
At least at the grocery store, I know the price upfront and don't have to deal with a salesperson trying to upsell me on prices and useless insurances. I think that analogy was completely off the mark.
Can you please tell me the things I need to pay. Title taxes and.... Maybe I am wrong. I know it's the taxes for sure.
Credit. Union. F-YOU!
Dealerships like to play dumb games. Thats why most of them cant have my business
If you don’t talk about “all” the numbers online, before going in, you are in for “made up” markup shock and you are a moron or a woman. Subaru Crosstrek new Base Model 2024 MSRP 25195 Destination 518 Discount 1482.72 + wv tax. 1,354.98 estimate Other. Description and price Title $15, fees Check Amt. 25,700.00 from bank my account no recalls so far
I appreciate this information. My concern is that customers have to develop a working relationship with a salesperson that usually could not care less. The customer is not always right but most (not all) dealerships will fleece people at every turn. Having a salesperson in a quazi-fiduciary capacity speak with the sales manager is junk. A licensed realtor or attorney would be liable for a similar practice.
How is high speed babbling helpful?
