My Dad was stationed at Mountain Home AFB in the late 70's and I think the house we lived in was haunted. I was 7 to 9 years old during that time and would often hear footsteps upstairs, the sound of shutters slapping again the windows upstairs and even evil like laughter on one occasion which caused me to bolt out of the house and sit in the front yard waiting for my family to come home from work . The house had no shutters on the windows and when it sounded like wind upstairs, I would look out the glass sliding door from the living room and see that there was no wind, a perfectly calm day. My opinion is that Mountain Home AFB could have been built near an Indian burial ground as the Native American history there is well known and established. I sometimes wonder if I was just a kid having wild imaginations, but the experience was very real to me. A lot of other bad things happened in that house involving some our cats, but I don't want to go into that too much. My parents decided upon a divorce when we lived there and my sister and father got into some bad fights there as well. I just think that place was kind of evil.

Secret trick I learned from an old friend gone away many years ago that seems to work well.... Use pickled herring from a jar and spice it up with WD-40. Instead of using lead weights cut up some rebar (cement support metal bars) and attach them to your line like a normal sinker with duct tape. Weight will break before the line does.

At least, no one seems to be scared. If there isn't any harm, no one getting poked or hair pulled or hearing scary voices, then it is likely someone who once worked there and just go on about your duties. I saw a video that said the Old Base Hospital on Barksdale AFB, Louisiana, is haunted. I thought about it for a while and then thought, yes, I remember.... my friend and I would play "spy" and we would sneak into the buildings on base and try not to get caught. We went into a HUGE building that is full of people working and we made it up to the attic and saw old dusty military furniture, and we found boxes and boxes and boxes of the old computer punch cards - I don't remember if they were unused, or if they were used, or maybe a bit of both, but it was cool. My dad's building was next door to the one we were in, but there was no way to get anywhere in his building because there are several checkpoints to get ot his office where they aren't allowed to take anything from the office, the secretary stays in an outer office and can't go inside the room where they worked... When I told my dad what we had done (years later) he thought it was funny. It wasn't like we tried to sneak into his building, I already knew about the tight security, and we never went anywhere near the gates that goes into the area where bombs are stored... we were told never to go near it and if passing it on bikes or the minibike, we were never to stop there... keep going. Barksdale AFB was the last base I lived on growing up, and my favorite. I loved our 1930's French Revival home with all the French doors, shutters, thick plaster walls and iron handrails and canopy over the front door. Our house was the first one you would see coming on base via the North Gate - Museum on the left then the BOQ and on the right is the officer's club, straight ahead is grass and trees, and then tennis courts, and then our house and to the right of that was a house reserved for Royal Exchange Officers and so we always had British friends. My favorite house - ever! So, heads up, to whom it may concern... when I die I am going to haunt Barksdale Air Force Base. All but 2 of the SAC bases I grew up on were closed after the Cold War. I have an 8-month-old Boxer puppy. Her name is Barksdale.
