Can I strongly suggest that when you’re giving out phone numbers read them very slowly, and then repeat them before you go onto the next. A lot of people have trouble writing quickly and this would be very helpful. Thank you.

Travis was a Patriot, not perfect, but a man who stood by his beliefs as a soldier and died bravely. Those who disparage him are ignorant of the sacrifice and courage that he and others displayed those thirteen days.

You have made a statement now provide evidence for your it. Any man who stayed at the Alamo in the face of overwhelming odds by Santana troops were heroes. I am English and I love American history. I would have loved to go to the Alamo but I am now in M6 70s and cannot travel. However my daughter, and her son who live in Italy intend to pay a visit in the future.

Ok Governor, here's my documented evidence that is never printed in the history books. You MIGHT know that there were hundreds of Mexicans who took the American side of the 1836 Revolt. There was a cavalry regiment of Mexicans under the command of Colonel Juan Seguin from a prominent San Antonio family. Two of his men were in the town on THE DAY of the battle, hence an eyewitness account on the day of the battle. They were Andres Barcena & Anselmo Vergara. They stated that on the day of battle that: "Bowie had died in bed, either by his own hand or the enemy's. Travis had shot or had stabbed himself..." Source: Todd, Hansen, The Alamo Reader (Mechanicsburg, PA: Stackpole Books, 2003) pp. 509-10. And Mr. Henson got his data from University Texas Rare Manuscript library. Enjoy! @@lindaperkins2221

After watching the movie.... I ordered the book and couldn't put it down..... pretty close the movie to the book..... however books are always so much better.... I am 65 and have been an avid reader all my life and have always loved any and all things historical..... Paulette is a great storyteller who grabs your attention and you never want the story to end...... I will be ordering The Color of Lightning and although sad that Britt and his crew were killed I need to get his back story and how he came to be..... thank you Paulette for taking me through an exciting story which covered all the emotions that makes a great story!

I worked at the Center for 7 years, and It was the weirdest Good Ol Boy system I ever saw, records lost, unqualified employees, and management was a Joke, the lights went out and I fell off a ladder as I was up like 9 feet, instead of handling the Automatic light system, they sent us to training on how to use ladders. you have to make a quita of files picked and put into storage other agencys send their staff to pick files, so whoever is on the phones that day can claim they picked those files themselves, the splitting of the loot in Boxes set to be destroyed boxes full of items left in Bank safe deposit boxes is another form of corruption, in this Caddyshack of a State Agency. But this is Acceptable in Texas.

After watching the movie version I have just completed Paulette's novel. It is fantastic. I would recommend it to anyone who loves reading about the American frontier. That said, I also recommend the movie, though it differs somewhat from the novel. Helena Zengel, the 11-year-old German girl is terrific in her portrayal of Johanna Leonberger. I wonder if Paulette also likes the movie version ...

It's so cool that Phil is a Crockett fan. I'm his niece and am proud of that. We used to play Crockett at the Alamo...Chips and I. Miss him. He was a true Crockett to the core. Hope one day to see his donation to the State of Texas and even more awesome would be to hear him tell me all about what he has learned about Uncle Davy. My maternal grandmother's maiden name was Crockett. She married William Shields. Interesting how these names form a story.
