Jann Newton | Beauty Over 60
Since menopause, I've been dealing with sagging neck skin, fine lines, wrinkles and weight gain. So, as an over 60 year old woman, I'm on a pro-aging (not anti-aging) journey.
This includes starting a skincare routine, (which I've never had before), eating healthier, losing weight, learning how to apply makeup and wearing clothes that don't make me look frumpy.
The content that I share here will be things that you can do at home, and at a much lower price than in-office procedures.
I love to do lots of research on skincare and pro-aging, (anti-aging devices), so you won't have to. There will be lots of before and afters, and reviews of devices and products. What's working for me personally, and what's not.
So, if you can relate, and you're wanting to look the best that you can at any age, then this content will help you on your own pro-aging journey!
If you find my videos helpful, I would love for you to subscribe to my channel!

Great tutorial. Your pillow cover finished size is a 17” square for an 18” pillow form. Is it standard to make the cover smaller than the pillow form? Thanks in advance for your response.
I created a video to answer this question - kzread.info/dash/bejne/l2mG2dWaaauTiNo.html. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for this clear tutorial! I want to make team logo pillow covers for my son’s dorm room and now I can do so with confidence.
You are so welcome!
Hi Jann, I see that this video was created a while ago, so I hope your're still answering questions. What is a good fabric to use for pillows. Does it have to be upholstery fabric? Thank you
I like to use a good quality 54” wide designer fabric. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the tutorial. My question is won't the rice make it too heavy?
Not at all
Thank you for this. I need to repair a teddybear and it has been a long time since home ec.

And that's me making a big mistake right there! That's what you get for being a guy I guess. I was making kites as a hobby some time back, but for about 8 years. Learned to sew from my mum as a kid, but even at the age of 70 I never made any curtains. I can see the logic behind the 4 inch double turn-up, it adds weight to the bottom. But I've only left a couple of inches! Doh! 😅 I've started making a stair curtain for my adopted sister, but never checked out the right methods. I already attached the heading tape, and it's already hanging on the ground floor stairway to keep some of the heat downstairs during winter time. I was planning to finish it off this summer, but now I see my mistake. Hmm, perhaps I can use the material I trimmed off, and add it back on. The fabric is cream coloured with drawings of forest animals, deer, pheasants, foxes, rabbits etc, but she says it doesn't need to look perfect as no one else will see it. I'm going over there this weekend, so wish me luck. 😁
Good luck!

Great video! I’ve been sewing a long time and have never seen a zipper installed this way, but it was perfect! I made a large floor pillow for my office - I work with kids.

Thank you! I couldn't find my directions today!
Glad I could help!
Fantastic video! I probably wouldn’t have thought to center my design front and back had I not noticed yours was so perfect. Thank you very much.

What is your seam allowance?
1/2”
OMG!! I worked on my pillow to get a nice looking closure all day until I found your video!! Your hack worked like a charm. Thanks so much!! ❤❤
Great job!
Great video and well done! I have a 12x16 pillow. Would you suggest Velcro so it doesn’t gap or will it be okay? Thanks!
If you use the formula, you shouldn’t need Velcro.
@@JannNewtonBeautyOver60I first made a cover using 3 pieces of fabric and an off-set back. Then I made a cover using your method. Your method produced a better finished cover. Thank you!!!
❤
Thanks for watching!

Thank you Jann!!! Hope all is well! I’m off to make my first pillow cover!❤
You can do it!
Well, I must say that your video is fantastic. Thank you so much. I just finished two pillows in less than 1 hour.
Good. job! Thanks for watching!
Boxed corners ... love the detail and finish! Thank you! 😍
You're welcome! Glad it was helpful!
I think it might be a good idea to finish the seams with a serger so that it doesn’t fray when washed.
Yes, or if you don't have a serger, use pinking sheers.
Next time when you make the video like this. I cannot see what you are doing with ending cord or piping with captions hover it. I have no control with google or KZread so next time make sure move your work up in middle of the video. This instruction video is great. I had to watch four time with no caption and caption on back and forth to understand what you are trying to show it. Big thanks!!! ❤
Thanks for watching! I'll keep that in mind.
Jann, did you use cotton or polyester thread for this pillow?
Cotton, I believe.
Very clear instructions and video! I love the fabric you used too!
Glad it was helpful!
Wow, I found your channel and just made two pillow covers in less than one hour! Easy to follow instructions, thank you!
Wonderful! Thanks for watching!
I came across your video a few days ago, bought my fabric cut it and sewed them last night and made 10 in no time at all. This is such a quick and easy pattern and I really like the boxed corners because they fit the tissues so much better. Thank you for such a great video. I'll be making a lot more of these for gifts.
That's wonderful! Thanks for watching!
Incredible! Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
Glad it was helpful!
Love your video thank you planning on making one for my 7 year old grandson that's turning 7 on Saturday I had a question how much material would I need for the whole project would half a yard be big enough for the pillow
No, 1/2 yard is not enough fabric. I would say at least 3/4 of a yard.
@@JannNewtonBeautyOver60 thank you so much. I did make my grandson one and he told his mother he was happy with all his presents but his book pillow was the best present he ever got and now he wants another one. And now I have my 3 grandson that's going to be turning 4 I have to make one for him. Thank you again for your video I will definitely be making more
Im way late to the game but this is a fantastic tutorial! I was searching for a way to make my extra quilt blocks into pillows and this is perfect! Thanks so much!
