    Its been 8 years since I commented on one of your videos, greetings once again from Kansas 👋👊 I have reread both American Shaolin and Tapped Out a dozen times over by now and I'm currently rereading Tapped Out. I have only recently realized what your first book had done for me. I was a rank green belt under my instructor in Tae Kwon Do back when I first read it, and it inspired me to "eat bitter" as the Chinese so aptly term it. I took the black belt a few years back and I must thank you in part for that success 🙂 The book helped me find the motivation and the ability to do fantastic things. I only have one question: What became of Monk Deqing? Do you still speak with him at all? If so please pass along my humble salutations, and thank you very much for reading this 😎

    Love you Matthew Polly. You are beginning to become a household name lol 😂 joe rogan was talking about you and your book on his show and he mentioned your name. Your book American shaolin shaped my whole summer last year going into senior year. Reading your book in little pieces day by day during the summer. Inspired me to start taking care of my body like the monks talked in the book. I tried to follow the exact workouts you and the monks did and although looking back on 17 year old me in backyard trying to imitate shaolin workouts it’s just embarrassing to think about. Lol But I look back on that summer so fondly as I was so invested and inspired by your book I would save the readings for nights and mid day readings Reading piece by piece Easily one of my favorite books of all time and I’ll never forget you and your story Matthew 🤧 And I have yet to read your Bruce lee biography you wrote! Got to save it for the perfect time! Haha Long time fan so I thought I should leave a comment showing my appreciation for you and your work. It changed me for the better. Oh great, here we go again chuck. This “I showed him kicking techniques” and “We put the fight scene together” crap gets old. Chuck will not admit that he was a student of Bruce’s. Bruce knew a variety of kicking techniques before he met chuck and he drew out and wrote out in intricate detail each fight scene. There was no “We” it was all Bruce. Joe Lewis 11time grand champion said he himself was a student of Bruce’s and other famous people (Chuck Norris) will not admit that they were a student of his. Bruce was far superior than chuck and even though they were friends they did not workout continuously for 2 years (in one interview he says 3 years. Bruce had a school to run plus tv and movie roles, so anyone wanting a private lesson had to pay up to $275.00 per hour. After they paid Bruce they could then call it “working out together.” Bruce did not need to workout with anyone, he trained by himself every morning for 2 hours. Just admit it chuck! Joe Lewis the father of kickboxing did! The only thing it will hurt is your pride. He just wants to bring Bruce down to his skill level because he otherwise would have to admit that his was nowhere near Bruce’s. Click on this link and listen to joe Lewis and Bruce himself describe chuck as a student. kzread.info/dash/bejne/YoCf07B7h9LelbQ.html

    Sorry I am gone because I am deeply insulted by this and even worse by the fucking comments on this page to insult Sifu Bruce legacy, ./I just wish his family would sue the lots of you for libel, this is libellous crap, removing arm pit sweat glands does not cause heat stroke, he was well hydrated and he was used to the weather, he over taxed himself 3 months before his death and had a 1 off seizure in a half an hour black out, not he was an Epileptic. He was quarter German and not Jewish at all or British, his mother is not a lair all of you are. Your as bad as the freaks who say Bruce never fought in tournaments so was not a real fighter and Chuck Norris taught Bruce t o high kick, even though the screen shot from Kato of the Grene Hornet shows Bruce 4 years before meeting Chuck could do all high kicks relevant to fighting and Jhoon Gee Rhee the best kicker on the planet in those days, since TKD not Karate is the finest form of leg combat attacks, oh please what crock of crap, I am gone sorry, but thank you to Matthew Polly for his opinion and replying to me cordially, but as a Scientist and Martial Artist whose own Sifu was 1 clog from Bruce himself with his partner Jhoon Gee Rhee who was the only TKD champion world Master higher than my own Suu Kyi Yeoung. people with no medical Scientific knowledge so not promote conspiracy tin foil hat stuff, or if you do state this is merely your opinion based on your reading of the facts, not that your position is the facts to everyone on this thread, but Polly brought up in his book an interesting thing we should debate the sweat gland under his pits being removed and the humidity of HK and was he hydrated, well he was used to the humidity, well hydrated, sweat glands are everywhere there is a pore in the skin that can release sweat, the hands are the worse place followed by pits, forehead and groin and for some feet.

    Polly he never used Aspirin it was not found in his body only some Marijuana in his stomach and Equagesic which, is a Aspirin type drug mixed with a muscle relaxant, he was allergic it caused hypersensitive reaction creating inflammation on the brain thus cerebal odema. is how Sifu died, will this profiteering money hungry conspiracy theorist stop polluting the mind of people with LIES. Just because fans find it hard to say how their icon died , there is people who still think Bruce, like Elvis and Hitler are still alive in their hundreds (except Bruce). So it is natural but to profit and how did he get permission to use Bruce Lee image, it has to be public domain or written consent from the Estate namely his wife and / or daughter.

  • @MatthewPolly
    @MatthewPolly5 жыл бұрын

    If you read my book, I explain the entire situation surrounding Bruce Lee’s death and the various theories explaining it. Hypersensitivity is only one theory and it has a number of flaws.

  • @diongibbsbpwp160
    @diongibbsbpwp1605 жыл бұрын

    no sir, your theory has no Scientific backing, I am a Scientist, I know removing sweat glands from under the arm pits only will not cause over heating and Bruce was used to Hong Kong humidity, but one thing is true we all agree on when he blacked out for half an hour he did have a one off rare seizure. this was 3 months before his untimely passing, he did have a cerebal odema or edema depending on type of English you spell with, me it is British English. Hi brain showed all signs of inflammation of the fluid which, enables us to survive, but when inflamed causes death, just as contrary t o many British doctor beliefs, people have died from Chronic Pain that caused Cardiac Arrest due to Ventricular Tachycardia, like happened to me. My Sifu was friends and partners with Jhoon Gee Rhee who taught and learned under Sifu Bruce, we can all have an opinion and it is right to, but we cannot all claim something as fact, he was used to the humidity, he had fluids in his body right which, could have been a factor to back your theory up, his arm pit glands alone wont do it, we sweat from every paw in our skin and the worse place for sweat to come is not the pits or the head but the hands. Think of that, it is why people have to have Botox position used to prevent further excessive sweating. I have that issue but will never get pig toxins injected in me. @@MatthewPolly oh P.S I would like to ask one sincere question, how did you get consent to use Sifu Bruce picture on your book or was that one of his rare public domain images?? This time from one author to another, my only book for sale right now is the Fourth International Theory a political book for 21st Century Nationalism, Patriotism, Socialism, and a move from Monarchy to Direct Democracy. I was banned from using a Gaddafi image even with the fact that he made a law making his image not copyrighted /, but we rejected that and demanded his pictures be copywrited and now it was all changed, they ruined parts of it and sad a good book otherwise, I love to read, I say bring back the study and remove the man caves.

    Hello Mr. Polly, i read many great things about your book in the last days. Of course as a german it was always nice to think Bruce was 1/4 german, but it seems he was english instead, but that s ok to me. "It s coming home" did not happen this summer at the soccer WC, but they can get Bruce instead. :-D Question: Is there a chance your book will come out in german language? English is not a problem for me (i can t write it perfect but read and understand very good), but of course if you say there will be a german version available, i gonna buy it in german. If not it s ok, then i gonna buy it in English. Thank you very much and congratulation for your work and research! Best regards from Germany

  • @MatthewPolly
    @MatthewPolly6 жыл бұрын

    Hey Chris, Thanks so much for your note. Yes, the English got Bruce this year but not the World Cup :) If it makes you feel any better, Bruce's great, great, great grandfather on his mother's side was German-Jewish, before they moved to Rotterdam, Holland sometime in the 18th century. To answer your question, we are still working on selling the German-language rights to the book. We haven't yet and not sure when it will happen. If we do, it'll take about 1-2 years before it comes out. So if you are keen to read the book, probably the English version is the best. Cheers, Matt

  • @NDoraku
    @NDoraku6 жыл бұрын

    Hi Matt, thank you very much for your reply! :) Ok then i gonna buy the english version first, because 1-2 years or even a little bit longer it s too long to wait. I have two other books about Lee in german and english ("Tao of JKD" and "Chinese Gung Fu - The Philosophical Art of Self Defense"), so i gonna buy the german version later to compare if the translation is right, in the other two books are some little mistakes. Sorry for my late reply, but i am not online here very often, usually i watch KZread on TV through Xbox One, and there you don t see any comments, so it can take 1-2 weeks until i reply. Maybe i write you a PM (private message) or email if it´s ok to you? Not specially about Bruce, more about soccer or combat sport, English soccer team, Heavyweight situation in Boxing with Wilder, Fury and Josuha. And yes, if Bruces grand grand grand grandfather was jewish-german, that s also ok to me. :D Cheers from Germany, Chris

  • @MatthewPolly

    Ok. :) Yes of course i will enjoy the English version. And if it comes out in German some day (don t matter if it s in 1-2 years or later), i gonna buy it too and compare the translation. Like i said in the two other books (Tao JKD, Philosophical Art of Self Defence) are some translation errors, not many, but the ones who were there gave a wrong description about certain things. Most Bruce Lee Books in the 80´s and 90´s in German language were printed by "Falken Verlag", but i don´t know if they still exist. About email: All right! Like i said it would be more about English Soccer Team or Heavyweight Boxing, so it would be totally Off Topic below this clip. Since you are also interested in Soccer and Combat Sports, i would like to share some opinions with you like potential English Soccer Team or Deontay Wilder vs Tyson Fury. I gonna use my emailadress i usually use for the internet, and in the subject i gonna write "ChrisB from KZread".

    Died from overdose from painkillers... celebrity forensics had a really good reason for this. Makes most common sense, imo

  • @MatthewPolly
    @MatthewPolly6 жыл бұрын

    Which painkillers did he overdose from? Have you seen the Coroner's Report? All that was found were traces of cannabis and the remnants from a single pill of Equagesic, which contains aspirin and meprobamate, a mild muscle relaxant. Have you read the transcript of the Coroner's Inquest? The forensic experts discounted the possibility of drug overdose. Two of the experts' conclusion is that it was an allergic reaction to aspirin. If you are going to spout off, at least do your homework.
