    4:56 thank you so very much for that wonderful review of our trip. I loved the music. That was a trip of a lifetime. We enjoyed it and enjoyed meeting all and getting to know new special individuals from all over. Once again, thanks Jill Hope you and John are doing well. Joe & Therese

    Hi I was just thinking about you a couple days ago - we must have ESP! I don’t think I’ve ever finished the slide shows for the rest of the days of that wonderful trip. We’ve been on many trips since and I have so many unedited pictures - some day I’ll get caught up. Hope you and Joe are doing well also.

    Did you get to see that sailing ship EUROPA under sail?

  • @JillClardy
    @JillClardy Жыл бұрын

    No. I didn’t realize that’s what she’s called. I just looked up her sailing schedule and she left the day after we did - 1/22 instead of 1/21 and is still out on that journey. What an adventure that would be, though 4 days to cross the Drake Passage instead of 2 might be too much for me ! www.barkeuropa.com/sailing-schedule/dates-and-fares

    I know! when I first started looking at the photos, I thought they were all ruined because of the wires (sky junk) everywhere, but then I decided that's what it really looks there like so I shouldn't try to remove them...

    are they on tiny wheels? do they only steer with their feet?

  • @JillClardy
    @JillClardy2 жыл бұрын

    I do not think there are wheels - just wooden rails underneath the sledge. The road is shiny from the constant friction. The drivers steer with their ropes and their feet. They wear special rubberized shoes for braking and they jump on the back and coast from time to time. We were moving really fast at times!

    Beautiful wildlife imagery & enchanting background music. I feel that I need to arrange a trip here instead of always going to the Masai Mara & adjacent conservancies!

  • @JillClardy

    Thanks! It was a unique experience; the watering hole is just across a ditch from the tented cabins (an electrified fence is at the edge of the ditch but located so that it doesn't interfere with photographs). And the Sweetwaters lodge is inside the Conservancy so you just drive out the gates to be among the wildlife. We saw all of the Big 5 (except for leopards) on our first game drive ! We also visited Baraka the blind rhino and could actually feed and touch him. The chimpanzee sanctuary established with support from Jane Goodall is interesting to visit. Easy to get to from Nairobi on mostly paved roads. Only the last 15 or 20 minutes after you leave Nanyuki are unpaved. The music is by Hennie Bekker which you can listen to on Amazon Prime. I bought an album which I used to accompany my African slide shows.

    Jill Clardy we went on a night tour with our guide in the amazon. We could only see with our little flashlights. Our friend Gary was trailing way behind us taking photos with his fancy camera. All of a sudden we heard him scream this scream of horror, pause, and then start laughing. I guess Cintia had put her snout in the butt part of his pants. He freaked out and then he realized it was her and was laughing. I guess she had followed us deep into the Trail in the darkness during our night tour hahaha I would sit on that patio for hours drinking that sludge coffee and she would come and visit with me.

    @@JillClardy hahahaha that's great! So funny! I have to tell my friends I was with! Did they take you to the reserve with the monkeys, sloths, anacondas? The piranha fishing? We were there exactly 6 years ago, November 26, 2012. I was just mesmerized by the Amazon on that trip. Facebook reminded me of the trip today and I reposted some pics. Then I came on youtube to find a video of our resort because a friend was asking me where we stayed. I was trying to find a video to share with them. Merry Christmas to you!

    Thanks Jill for so many great photos of the Redwood City PortFest, one of the Anchor Events for Bay Day! As you noted, it was a unique opportunity to see "behind the scenes" at a working port--we had a ship in port from Australia delivering bauxite--and the Sims Metal Management recycling plant was in operation "up close" during the tour getting ready to fill a ship with recycled metal leaving for Asia this week. We appreciate Save the Bay's participation.
