yep! just a level 1 health augment too, i do cut it real close whenever i pull off a stunt like that but it's meant to be flashy anyways i just saw someone do it in a run and thought to try myself haha

Just soloed this big boi earlier today with my new SnS build. Started new playthrough. LS was easier wit my build but definitely cool trying different weapons with bigger monsters. Also I learned a few things watching this that I didn’t know I could do so thank u

yup, SnS is unironically the most underrated weapon--perfect rush among some deals crazy damage for being such a nimble moveset, there's a reason speedrunners love it hahaha i learned most of my tricks from just experimenting and watching other TA runs of Alatreon, likewise with my Arch-Tempered Velkhana video soon I'll bother myself to record one for Fatalis, as I'm still missing Alatreon's "The Evening Star" for swaxe, and "Dawn of the Death Star" on my hunting horn

Nice run. Just as a tip, at 6:40, when smoking alatreon, when your map border turns purple throw a rock or something at alatreon to force him to land. Also any reason you don't use heavenward flurry to charge your sword even for long openings?

oh I actually didn't know that, I'd often wait out alatreon's whole landing sequence --- I'll definitely try this and rerecord. as for me not using the flurry, its also just a force of habit, though i also find that this string of inputs still builds my amp-gauge far quicker than not and is easier to cancel out of than if i just flurry and get stuck in said animation and recoil, but yeah, i used flurry a lot less for favor of playing very safe here even though i had very clear settings for

Thanks! And you're definitely right, she's just a little more erratic than regular velkhana, the only real difference is her health and damage haha i admit i crutch on Divine Blessing and mantles a lot, but that's also why i tried to show how to be as evasive as possible in this run

Good hunt. Aside from fighting it more and getting better at positioning, I have a couple of things to give advice on: 1. The major one is the lack of Right swing (neutral right click) attacks. I think you use the Overhead smash (forward double click) too frequently which leaves you open to being hit, so using an attack with faster animation in exchange for less damage is an option. Not to be confused with Flourish (forward right click). 2. Following that, another underutilized attack is Recital (neutral mouse button?) which is basically a better version of Left swing (neutral left click). Consider using this while facing Alatreon's left side. While inferior to Overhead smash, this allows you to refresh buffs more regularly instead of having them time out. The following are less important and are exclusive to Alatreon but may still be helpful: 3. The space directly in front of Alatreon's head is a safe spot when it transitions to Dragon State (large dragon explosion). Positioning yourself there opens up a lot of things such as dealing damage, sharpening weapon, refreshing buffs, etc. But be careful as this only works on the transitioning version. Similar dragon explosions, that don't lead to transition, won't have the same safety. 4. When Alatreon prepares for Escaton Judgment (the nuke), the wind up is pretty long, which leaves you waiting for a moment. You could be using that time to set-up for the next phase. Consider sharpening weapon ASAP even if your health is low, and then start to move closer because you can drink potions while moving towards it. This method is more efficient because you are able to shuffle through your item bar while sharpening, instead of sheathing weapon, running towards it, scrolling for heals then sharpening. This frees you up to attack or clutch claw tenderize immediately after Escaton.

oh i definitely did not know about the space in alatreon's front being a safe spot during the dragon-transition being safe, i always assumed that i had to roll just right in that particular area I've only ever been able to be aggressive enough to (for example) ZSD during eschaton if my swaxe had a health augment, definitely should remember i have downtime for hunting horn also didn't know the neutral recital swing dealt damage! I always just used it for triggering melodies, I'm going to re record this to try again for sure, thanks!

Would recommend using Criteye Charm to max out Affinity over Agitator which only gives about 10 Affinity and a small increase of Attack but given how Silverlos set bonus works your better stacking as much "active" Affinity possible to get Crits

i find that having 2 pieces of velk armor, and an extra 3 for any other armor piece of choice is far more useful than 4 pieces of alpha-silver sol armor and a very limited selection of what decors I'm able to use. that and hunting horn can easily reach alatreon's elemental threshold anyways, true crit element isn't necessary

thanks! if you consider an hour of trial and error a short time then not at all. at-velkhana shares a lot of movesets with the basic velkhana only difference being the scale and frequency of attacks, otherwise she's very predictable and has set sequences for attacks

not the greatest hunting-horn run, and can definitely be sub 20 if done properly, i took a lot of hits just trying to "demonstrate" what can be done in and around the hunt but i guess a better way would be to just not get hit, lol will re-record this soon.

this recording was done for fun, but also as an attempt at showcasing my personal improvement from my previous run on the same Alatreon (old video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/Zp9t3MarYLC6nLg.html ) i use a similar load-out in both runs but i wanted to challenge myself to the most bare-minimum loadout i can imagine, so for this recording, i cleared the hunt with only equipment available BEFORE Alatreon AND the exclusion of Arch-Tempered Velkhana, Fatalis, and siege-gear (Safi'jiiva and Kulve Taroth) (i didn't have the luxury of Felyne Safeguard or Insurance, so i went with Moxie--- either way, i didn't cart at all but as a no-brainer---those are of course helpful food buffs) in a way, i also want to prove that this is in-fact possible, and other players don't need to stress over siege-weapon-RNG, or having to tackle Arch-Tempered Velkhana/Fatalis just to clear Alatreon (though it is possible, will upload those runs soon ',:^)... ) i did try to play flashier in this recording, and the time can definitely be shaved off. otherwise, enjoy!

super late comment on my part, but worth pointing out---the rng for Kjarr weapons is ridiculously bad, that and the 2 week rotation between this and Safi'jiiva's siege (if you happen to not have Kulve Taroth) is more annoying than anything. thus, if you've already solo-cleared the Special Event missions for Alatreon and are looking to farm him, just do so by running "The Evening Star" event quest and use a Frostfang weapon as Alatreon will be in fire-active mode.

this is a late comment as I'm currently working on doing hunting horn solo runs (with gear only available before any given monster that's being hunted). one thing i realized later on but didn't comment on in this recording is that i used Velkhana Y-armor in this attempt (only available by slaying Arch-Tempered Velkhana, arguably harder than Alatreon or even Fatalis). though i did end up putting out a recording showing that it's possible to clear ATvelk with a pre-Fatalis, pre-Alatreon loadout (ofc pre ATvelk) and solo, you can absolutely and just as comfortably clear Fire-Active Alatreon with the standard Velkhana-B armor set available without slaying Arch-Tempered Velkhana, and only sacrifice a few levels in Evade Extender/Window at best. (the back-up set shown in this vid with my Kjarr-fire Swaxe is only really there if you fail to slay Alatreon once all horns are broken and get carted by a following Nova--with you wanting to switch sets mid-way for whatever reason, otherwise, you can just keep smacking his head which is a good hitzone for raw damage as he'd already be fairly low by then, siege-weapons are not necessary but do help) on the topic of needing to suffer through a 2-week period in between Safi'jiiva and Kulve Taroth rotations (and horrible rng), if one were to progress through Alatreon, Fatalis, then Arch Tempered-Velkhana in that order WITHOUT siege weapons, you can hunt Fire-Active Alatreon with Frostfang weapons, then hunt Fatalis with Alatreon weapons, then finally Arch Tempered-Velkhana with Fatalis gear. however, if you want to attempt Arch Tempered Velkhana with pre-Alatreon, and pre-Fatalis equipment, my best bet would either be using Rathalos/Glavenus-tree Swaxes for fire damage, or the Lightbreak Swaxe (Raging Brachydios), though i've not personally tried this myself. ultimately, progress through the game how you want, no shame in SOS-ing and getting help, these ramblings only really matter if you're as particular as i am about personal progression and challenge in video games lol.

8:33 13:34 there's no point in eating jerky before taking damage from EJ. jerky will restore all of your recoverable health which is the whole point on why you should bring them, you don't need to waste max potions there, good video though
