    The fruit is edible for humans, but has a big seed and doesn’t taste all that great.

    I’ve watched every one of these videos, some 10-20 times each. 100% the best brush identification information on the internet. I hunt near Guerrero, Coahuila (right across the river), and I take great pride in understanding what I’m looking at. Thank you for taking the time to make these! Waiting on the grass identification videos now.

    Are these trees any good for lumber? I'm clearing a ton of then for my home site and wondering if it would be worthwhile to get a chainsaw mill setup and use them to build a small shed on site.

    looked it up on wood-database website: Workability: Can be a challenge to work because of interlocked grain, especially on quartersawn surfaces. Planing can cause tearout and/or fuzzy surfaces. Poor dimensional stability. Glues, stains, and finishes well. Responds well to steam bending, and holds nails and screws well. Common Uses: Boxes, baskets, furniture, hockey sticks, veneer, wood pulp, and papermaking. Rot Resistance: Rated as non-durable; susceptible to insect attack. Living trees are susceptible to Dutch elm disease. Grain/Texture: Grain is interlocked (making it very resistant to splitting). With a somewhat coarse, uneven texture. Common Name(s): Cedar Elm Scientific Name: Ulmus crassifolia Distribution: South-central North America Tree Size: 65-100 ft (20-30 m) tall, 3-5 ft (1-1.5 m) trunk diameter Average Dried Weight: 41 lbs/ft3 (655 kg/m3) Specific Gravity (Basic, 12% MC): .54, .66 Janka Hardness: 1,320 lbf (5,870 N) Modulus of Rupture: 13,500 lbf/in2 (93.1 MPa) Elastic Modulus: 1,480,000 lbf/in2 (10.21 GPa) Crushing Strength: 6,020 lbf/in2 (41.5 MPa) Shrinkage: Radial: 4.7%, Tangential: 10.2%, Volumetric: 15.4%, T/R Ratio: 2.2

    Why do they have tags on?

  • @springcreekoutdoorsllc1928
    @springcreekoutdoorsllc19283 жыл бұрын

    This was filmed inside a deer breeding facility--permitted by Texas Parks and Wildlife Department to hold pen-raised deer in captivity. Much of what we know about white-tail deer today comes from confined and ear-tagged deer. The tags are used to identification purposes.

    I started feeding 20% protein pellets about the first of April. There are 6/7 resident buck feeding numerous times a day. Numerous doe also. Getting to be more expensive than i ever thought. These deer are consuming about 200 lbs. per 7/8 days, but i can already see improvement in antler growth. I can hardly wait to see these buck come November.
