Thank you for a very informative video.
most depressed class 40 diesel locomotive :( 4:56
Visited the Battlefield line and had a great time. ELR is my local line.
Not bothered by it,find it "vanilla",really. I'd prefer to see a Class 40,but each to their own
I drove the 66202 today in dijon. Good video
Some of the Standard fives had Caprotti valve gear.
Fabulous, can't wait to ride it in two weeks. See you Elizabeth Line! 😊
Been their many times and well worth a visit.
Hello I just had say this, yes Scotsman can be officially be first steam locomotive to achieve 100mph, but it was not first man made machine to achieve that top or high speed. This cause in 1903 an experiment electric engine in Berlin was recorded to have top speed of 130mph way before Scotsman was conceptualised. I’m personally un-decided on Scotsman as I haven’t got chance see it, but I at moment I do consider it to be money flying pit as I’m just following the crowd. However, I’m sure the day I do see it would slap me in face and make me change my decision.
Thankfully, the IC225's won't be going just yet. After LNER retires them, there's a possibility they might be going to a new open-access intercity operator named Grand Union, but that plan's been temporarily suspended indefinitely, and they're going to use Voyagers and Meridians instead for the time being. But the MK4 coaches will be staying for a good while yet, as they could be transferred to TFW or Chiltern in future.
Wait a minute there like 5 or 4 2mt tanks still around you dirty little diesel
Well, i drive the Class 66 here in Belgium for a german freight operator, amongst the fleet of BR186 Traxx, BR193 Vectron, euro 9000 (class99), type77 (belgian loco), ... My opinion is that its interesting that fans are so enamoured with the class. It has a certain romanticism i guess with the noise and the presence, but after you spend 6 or so in the small, unergonomic and poorly ventilted cab with the huge 2 stroke screaming in your ears because you're almost constantly going flat out, the romance quickly fades away. I don't dislike it at all, but i prefer the more modern comfortable electric locomotives from a driver point of view as they are way less tiring and demanding on me as a driver. Can't beat the song of the big 2 stroke though 🤭
Am I the only one who thinks the 66s would sound good with EMD bronze bells?
So sad replacing good working reliable beautiful BR Stock with ugly modern unreliable trains.
Honestly, I Also Love The Flying Scotsman, It’s One Of My Favorite UK Steam Locomotives In The World, Along With The A4 Mallard, The 4900 Hall Class 5972 Olton Hall "The Hogwarts Express" The A1 Peppercorn Pacific Tornado 60163, The LMS Black 5’s, The BR 9F’s, The GWR Castle Class Clun Castle, The Merchant Navy Class Clan Line And GWR City Of Truro
The class 91 could probably last another 30 years
MTR?
BREL was sold to ABB and all built at York.
My opinion on the Flying Scotsman is the same for all historical locomotives; those which can be saved should be preserved, even if they eventually become static musuem pieces. After all, it takes a huge amount of time, effort and resources to maintain these machines, meaning that it's understandable that not every part is original. Case in point: Stepney, an A1/A1x "Terrier" locomotive which will be 150 years old next year. Are all the parts on that famous locomotive original: of course not. Does that detract from its history: in my opinion, no. As such, the fact that Flying Scotsman is still operational is an outstanding achievement and I think that, in many ways, it's a blessing that people are more than prepared to ensure that it's preserved for the benefit of everyone here in Britain.
Since you did the top 10 BR Standard class steam locomotives, can you maybe do a top 10 for Great Western, Southern, London Midland and Scottish, and London and North Eastern Railway steam locomotives?
I Literally Want To Go To England Just To See A Class 66
7:43 BR Green is actually Deep Bronze Green, not Brunswick Green. I believe Brunswick Green was the colour used by The Great Western. A lot of people confuse the two, including me for a long time.
The absence of the East Lancs and Watercress lines is unfortunate and flawed the video as a whole.
3:50 like you wouldn’t believe lol..
You could of mentioned the class 700 infirmus ironing bord seats
Where is the Forest of Dean railway ?😊
A good call! One for a future video for sure!
Pendolino is faster 😂 max speed is 142mph
9:38 What?
THE CLASS 66's The use of the term 'sheds' likely came from the modern railway enthusiasts. It is a phrase only simpletons could come up with. In truth they look far more like Oliver Bulleid's 'Leader' than anything else, but you have to be of a certain generation to understand that......and imaginative to understand that. It is a little more above the pay grade and intelligence quota of the simpletons... The 'Leaders' is a far more appropriate name fror them... Why, they could even be named in the manner and style as the former 'Westerns' were.....! Given the size of the fleet they purchased......and with a little imagination.......EWS could have done that..! James Hennighan Yorkshire, England
The class 466 and 465 is 30 years old I think
Look at all the creativity n fantastic machines we used to have, all had their own identity n everyone has a memory attached to them. Those plastic generic nee things just scream “busy London commute”. We used to be a great country.
😂 140mph... Fast?
the flying scottsmen coming happy to fly
or its because its a tin box on top of a really powerful engin
There are many locomotives I wish were preserved but got scrapped. Coronation was one of them, and Great Northern who was a sister locomotive of Flying Scotsman as well as the A4 locomotive Silverlink.
i love how theyre called classmates, also bombardier is pronounced bom-bard-ee-yay jjst to let you know
DJM. Great film 😊
