Amazing one. She had a great voice. I regret this one was not recorded 7-10 years earlier, We would have had the chance to enjoy a genuine ''folk'' record without the electronic frills, my humble opinion

This is the first time I post a comment here, but have been devouring the videos posted on this channel for the past 2 years now. Michael, I don't think anyone has influenced me more and faster than you have when it comes to discovering great new music and artists. Just to name a few milestones I've discovered through you: Yusef Lateef, Judee Sill (!!!), Neu, Nicolas Jaar, Kali Malone, Janos Starker, Those Attractive Magnets,... Michael, du hast das geschaft😉

Michael, what do you make of all of the claims over the years (including in the comments of The In Groove's video) that Kick was an early digital recording? I can't find anything definitive, and I trust Chad/AP to vet everything (plus Ryan Smith to not put his name on something as AAA if it wasn't AAA), but it would be nice if someone could provide a definitive answer about this. Internet chatter is often wrong, of course, but if it's truly AAA, I'd love to known how the digital talk started.

Michael, first off I want to say I was very excited to see your new video that you put out today. I believe it is my fault that your video got a copywrite strike and taken down. In the beginning of your video, the guest you had was playing some African funk. I dug it and tried to Shazam it. I clicked off for that, and when I click to get back to the video, it was taken down. I'm deeply, deeply sorry for that. I just want to bring awareness to how these things are working now. I don't have first hand knowledge that it is factually exactly what happened, but it was only two or three seconds of elapsed time. Again, I'm really sorry that happened.

Thanks for this very informative but also a little sobering article. It is very much in line with my impressions of the last 3 months. That's how long I've been back in the vinyl world after 40 years of abstinence. I still own about 600 old records (most of them from the 80s) and many of them are not so great pressings. Unfortunately, I sold the most interesting records then. But they all have more charm, more authenticity than the new pressings I've bought so far. Whether reissues or current pressings. For example, I also bought the Guru Guru UFO and Hinten (horrible replica of the original cover). I've just streamed the digital versions in comparison and have to say that they don't sound any worse, rather better. The Tangerine Dream was actually also on my wish list. But since I own an excellent remastered CD version, I will probably do without it. I'm just a music connoisseur and not a collector.

More hyperbole “Devil Inside becomes an unbelievable good song”. I have UHQRs (Aja) and Atlantic 75s (Blues & Roots) and they don’t by any measure alter a song from very good to unbelievable. They’re simply better pressings. It’s the same music. You’re not opening a magic box to something no one has heard. Still this reviewer is way more invested in the audiophile experience than anything to do with the music.
@michaelb96644 күн бұрын
I agree a lot of these audiophile releases are hyperbole. But at least the pressings are decent quality, the remastering is nothing exemplary it would take remixing to really make a dramatic difference. Analogue Productions also cherry pick the lowest hanging fruit in my opinion, they remaster albums that are already incredibly well mixed and mastered to begin with. Plus the pricing is crazy for their UHQR pressings in my opinion.

The Jimmy Page 2014/15 remasters I think are very good. They seem to get a lot of bad press by a lot of people because they are from a digital source. Last time I checked Page was the in the band, produce the records and knows exactly the sound he was looking for then and now. It’s amazing how so many people who have never set foot into a recording studio are telling the guy who made the albums how they should sound. Some audiophiles are chasing for a perfect sound that doesn’t exist be it with a certain pressing or their system and come across as snobs and look down on you if you don’t have this pressing or that pressing or a lesser system. Just enjoy the music and what you have in your collection and the system you have. A lot of people out there don’t even have that.
