hi, where does the stratus fit. I'm looking for something freeride Seeking off piste, carve, cruise, explore, not into insane velocity. lol maybe some trees. intermediate + 5.6 9.5 boot 153 lbs.

Stratos is less stable than the hovercraft and a little more serious than the Frontier. I think the stratos is mainly for big mountain guys who like going off of technical slopes and the occasional pow. Frontier is more casual, but in softer snow you can still lay it over. Kind of depends on what conditions you face often tbh

I know this review is a couple of years old, but if I have the chance to get either the 2024 Ripstick 94 Tour or the 96, which would be best for 70:30 ratio of inbound lift and inbound skinning groomers to the occasional ungroomed skinning on the east coast? Thanks!

I have both the ripstick 96 180 and the wingman cti 86 178. I’m 6,3” and 275 lbs. I prefer the wingman for the edge hold, carving and the rebound. That being said, most of my skiing is east coast hard pack which is what the wingman is designed for. I can’t say to much about the ripstick because I haven’t had it out enough yet. Today is 2-14-24 and if you would like to get a wingman cti, the 2022 model year is on sale at level9 for $338, it’s the same construction as the 2024. It’s a great ski. Thanks for this video, you guys did good.

Great review, I’ve got the mountain twin and I love it, I’m looking at adding another board, I fancy something for going fast and maybe a bit more of a pow board. Would you suggest the flagship, aviator, hovercraft or frontier ? Cheers

I found this overview to be helpful in comparing the different models in the lines. It was brief, but I got a good sense of the type of skier each version would be good for. I liked the delivery and balance of a touch of playfulness along with more solid info. Nice job!

  • @skiwhmts

Good description and review on the pros and cons of both models. For me I choose the 88 as its easier to carve and is suitable for more days with poor snow conditions. I use it both in the east and out west. If you do get a big storm you can always rent wider skis as they seem to have lots of Nordica Enforcer 100 and 104's for rent. The whole Nordica Enforcer range is popular year after year.

I would personally take the 94 if I just wanted one ski. However if I was after a two ski quivver, you would go the 88 and the 100 for some seperation. I ride the brahma and bonafide, and much like you said the wider ski just blast through crud better. Good to have two options, early morning and for later in the day!

I have both the 2023 Elan 96 RS Black in 172 and the Atomic Maverick 95tis in 180. I'm a solid intermediate (5'11" 190LBS) middle aged male doing 3 trips out West and 6 weekends up to Vermont. I'd like a better choice for the Vermont/NH hard pack/ice. I've been looking at the K2 Mindbender 89s, the Nordica Enforcer 88s, Volkl Mantra M6 and the Kendo 88s. Whatever I get will be strictly for the East Coast. Thoughts???

  • @winteriscalling3063

I think you mentioned a few great options that would perform well on firmer conditions we experience in New England. If you are a fan of the user friendly design of the RS 96, it would be worth looking into the Wingman series, specifically the 86 CTI. I found it to be a blast on refrozen groomers without being sluggish in variable conditions. Otherwise skis like the Kendo 88 and Brahma 88 from blizzard have been proven year after year on hard pack conditions.

At our shop we put lots of customers on the Rustler 9, Volkl Kendo 88, Brahma 88, Enforcer 94 and Mantra M6. My personal favorite is the Deacon 84. For the customers that want to skin in the resort the Blaze 94 with Shift binding. My personal ski in that category is the new Blizzard Hustle 10. Here are my impressions as an upper intermediate skier: the 82 CTI is a good ski for icy groomers and for carving. The Elan Ripstick 96 feels more playful, turns on a dime, but is not as good on ice, and gets a little squirrely at high speeds.

I live in NY and just bought the Nordica Enforcer 94. Where do they fall in this list? I got them to replace a 2014/2015 Volkl Kendo which chatter too much and I find myself overpowering them on hard pack. That last straw was hitting Okemo last year on a VT trip and being absolutely miserable skiing groomers all day because there was no snow in the glades.
