Cootness overload❤❤
Maam listen to me. You're hot😮😮
Exactly what I was looking for! Thank you so much for your help
Glad it helped!
Thanks for sharing!! It helps me a lot 🥹💙
Hey! I loved your video. This was probably the only video that provided a roadmap. However, I have a question. As a complete beginner in UX design, how do I choose case studies? Can it be hypothetical because I have not done any real-life projects for any client? Hypothetical in a way that I just choose any app and identify a problem with it and then work on it? I am just stuck here. Your input would be great. Hope to get a reply from you! Thanks a lot xx
anyone ever told u that u looks like jennifer morrison?
Hadn’t gotten that before!
How should someone looking to become a UI designer structure their cast studies?
Firstly, I’d really consider if you want to niche yourself in UI (without UX). The job market is really competitive and having both skills opens up more roles to apply to. Secondly, when creating a UI case study you really want to focus on telling the story/journey of the product’s evolution and articulate why you made the UI decisions that you made. Be sure to incorporate things like who you are designing for and how that impacted your decisions, any pre-existing product data that may have played a role in decision making, designing for accessibility, if you based your designs on any guidelines, etc. Then, drive home how your UI designs had an impact on the company/KPIs etc.
@@imerinkate Thanks Erin. I'm currently doing a Graphics Design with UX elements. Definitely pays to be versatile. Sometimes it seems like an employer wants you to be all three.
pls make a video for creatin dribbble or linkedin profile
Good idea!
Where to create case study? In figma?
Hello, I like to create my first draft in Figma then I use that to build it out in a website builder (I use Squarespace).
You're a godsend, Erin; thanks so much for this. 🙏🏾 It was really helpful x
Happy to hear that :)
Thankyou for the template.
Helpful❤ but the video doesn't have enough sound🥲
Oh no!
Hello Kate, If we dont know about problem statement, how we can identify it?
If you don’t know a problem statement- ask yourself- what is the gap you are filling with your product / what is the issue you are solving with your design?
Where is the best find templates for mockups?
Hey! Figma community is a great place to find mock-ups and templates.
Super helpful thanks!!!
What a great resource! However, I think beginners should probably at least have taken some general courses before really diving into this video. It's a bit fast-paced and there is a lot of lingo that could use some pause and elaboration (wireframes, affinity mapping, SWOT, etc), but I am thankful for this template and for you to have taken some time to do this!
Can you please share your UX portfolio? Thank you!!
Hey there! A lot of my projects are NDA so I only review with hiring teams. My website is www.erinkateuxui.com (hasn’t really been updated in a few years) :)
Can you teach me ui more elaborate akka
right time
Thanks for sharing erinkate , this was really needed 😊
So glad!
but why you're recording like that you can use OBS studio and its free to use. By the Way, Thanks :)
I'm not familiar with this. I was using Loom. How is OBS better in your opinion?
@@imerinkate way better
Yes, easy to use and don't shows screen recording like icons, just setup in OBS and gtg @@imerinkate
OBS or SLOBS is used to live stream on twitch and youtube and is a great option to record too@@imerinkate
The music to loud
Thanks for that feedback. I will definitely tune it down in my next video. My ears didn't pick up the volume 😳
i would prefer without the background music , otherwise i learnt alot . Thanks @@imerinkate
Thanks for the feedback. Will turn down the music next time for sure.@@kareynjeri3982
Enjoyed it, thank you🤩
Glad you enjoyed it!
i love that Background ♥
Very helpful.
Glad I could help!
I hope this will help me in my upcoming project. Thank you for sharing ❤❤
You’re welcome 😊 good luck!
Great video! I'm in the process of making my first-ever case study and it just happens to be in SquareSpace, too! Would love to see more of how to utilize SquareSpace the best way as I'm new to it.
Excited for you! Yes, this is a video I hope to do soon… have just been busy with my job. Filtering their templates down to portfolios and choosing one with a nice header and cards featuring your work is a good place to start :)
This was really helpful. Thank you so much Kate, for taking the time to make those suggestions.
You're so welcome!

THANKS Erin ,,,,,, it was fantastic,,,, good job
Glad you found it helpful!
Hi Erin, I’m a new UX designer currently going through a boot camp as well, I came across your video from a year ago I think and it resonates with me, thanks for sharing your experience, if you get comment I’d like to ask a question about your first tip , about unsolicited redesigns of applications you feel have “not so great” User Experience. My question is what is your process? Do you begin from scratch, conducting user research and drawing wireframes , or do you just redesign mockups of the existing applications. Thank you
Hey there! Welcome to the world of UX design. That’s a good question. The way that I would approach this scenario is … 1. Audit current product: When I audit a product I am taking notes on its functionality, usability, UI elements, etc. I am taking into account everything from the UX of the product (the way it feels to use) and the UI of the product (the way it looks). 2. Competitive analysis: then, I would do some competitive analysis on similar products/patterns - I usually screenshot the apps and map their flows out in Figma then put notes of pros and cons and ideas all of the competitors designs/flows 3. Redesign process: Then I begin my redesign. If there are major UX/UI issues then yes, I’ll do lofi wire framing- but this is not always needed and I’ll jump into mid-fidelity here. I usually make a few options and do some user testing on which is best/or discuss with my team. 4. High fidelity: I take the mid fi and clean them up into high fidelity mock-ups/designs- this is where I recreate the designs to be scalable if needed, name the frames/layers for easy dev handoff, use plugins like A11y to check contrast again, create components etc etc depending on what the scope of the project is. Hope this helps! :)
@@imerinkate Thank you for writing back, this has been really detailed and helpful, thank you again 🫶🏻. I can already imagine how I would go about my redesign. I’m so glad to have come across UX design as a career path and excited about future opportunities and projects, I do hope that I can come to you again in the future regarding any obstacles I may face lol😄
Can you please guide how a fresher can create a portfolio
Hello, I am working on a few videos for this :)
Thanks for sharing I thought the word is Enneagram You have a typo on your first landing page
Thanks for the tip!
Amazing! TY🙏🏾
So welcome!

glad you think so!
Thank you so much it really helped
So glad it helped!
portfolio is pertinent and for a newb your video helped me so much<3 ty!!!
Woohoo! I’m glad to hear that!
I am glad I came across your channel. I’m taking the google certification in class and almost done, but am trying to figure out how to best go about making a portfolio for the ux/ui world.
Best of luck! What are some of the biggest obstacles you feel you’re encountering in this journey?
@@imerinkate I think it's the mechanics of it all. Learning all the new software, being in a new field and starting from scratch, but I am aiming for positivity. Even though it's all new and a challenge I have to remember to take it step by step. I may have to book you since I am looking for a mentor on this new journey as well.
what kinda portfolio should I create for university?
Hello! I honestly cannot answer this as I am not familiar with university requirements
Did you build the website?, am curious how you got the information to fit in so nicely and responsive.
I built my website, yes
@@imerinkate Oh was it not Squarespace?
I did build on Squarespace. This video is aimed at creating a case study, not building a portfolio website. It educates people on the layout, information needed, and process of designing your case study. You would then take this design from Figma and use it as a guide when building out the case study on Squarespace. @@aaj9722
your video was put so thoughtfully! thank you for creating this🩷
You're so welcome! I'm glad you liked it
Thankyou so much for clearing my doubts about my first case study, and apart from this literally you are so beautiful.
Happy to help!
omg you speak SO WELL that I could listen for hours
Thank you, such a compliment! I hope you're finding my videos helpful :)
