  Yes! It is a quick and easy method to brew cold brew. You can also look at the new Marco Cold Bru system.

  @@ahdes hey! Depends on where you’re brewing and for what. (Typical coffee answer I know) Marco is a concentrate machine so probably best served in their kit but you can make some taste coldbrew tonics free pouring. Hardtank straight coldbrew and nice to nitro it. Horses for courses. What’s were you thinking of doing?

  I followed this video and it was exactly what I needed to make it work! My problem now is I’m 2 g off on a double basket, even though I have calibrated it and erased all the porta filter and reweighed them so I’m open to suggestions!

  I’m having the green screen of death issue on my e80s gbw. I’ve tried re-calibrating a few times and it will work for a minute but then go right back to being stuck on the green screen. Is it possible I have a bad load cell or need a firmware update?

  This just happened to me as I was setting up for a market last Saturday. Grinder just had a mind of its own. Main screen was often unresponsive. Grinder would grind by itself at random and grind a little bit every time I tapped the portafilter holder. Eventually it worked. But to test I brought it home and one time it randomly came on about 15 minutes after a dose and ground around 4 doses before I shut it off. Recalibrating seems to have fixed it, though my dose weights are still off. I also finally updated the firmware. Crossing my fingers that it will work because I have two markets this weekend. Without it I have to use my much slower Orion doser and Niche Zero.

  Hey Todd, If you're in a market set up perhaps its not on an even surface? We wouldn't recommend GBW for outdoor settings and uneven workbenches. I'm glad you got going in the end though :)

  @@silverskincoffee3767 I've been using it in markets for about a year without issues. I have weight tolerance set to low. It is actually more resistant to wind issues than the Acaia Orion bean doser and my Lunar scale. I suspect that packing and unpacking and just time somehow got the scale out of wack. My doses are getting closer now. I typically run the cart by myself so I need the speed of the GbW to keep up with the line. I suppose I could go to a time based dose if the weight issues remain.

  @@silverskincoffee3767 4 months later and I just got another gremlin with the e65s GBW. The machine has worked flawlessly for 4 months at 2+ markets per month. This morning I set it up, turned it on, and it started grinding with 0g displayed. Nothing that I did would change the 0, as if the load cell was stuck. To get into any menu I had turn the grinder off then on and double tap the right wheel twice before it started grinding. I tried to calibrate with a 1kg weight (which I now carry with me), but that did nothing even though i said it was calibrated. I finally had to go into GBW failure mode and manually dose by holding the left upper button. Not sure why the grinder can't go back to a timed mode instead, but I didn't have time to work that out as the other vendors start wanting to buy coffee at least an hour before the market opens demanding a cup of coffee. I could not see any physical issues with the portafilter holder or load cell mechanism. Error log shows an overload every time I turn the machine on. Also, I finally remembered I could bypass the password by holding down both left buttons while turning the machine on. Much easier than entering a password. I believe that this is a feature added to a firmware update, so not all grinders may have it.

  As a followup, I just spent 2 hours trying to fix my e65s GBW with no success. I did both resets, removed the load cell and portafilter holder to make sure it was all clean and installed correctly. Unless I am in GBW failure mode the grinder starts grinding when I turn it on, then shows the green screen of death. I have to turn the grinder on, then double click the knob before it starts grinding to go into the menu. Portafilter detection shows 1808.1 g on the load cell with no portafilter or weight on the holder. I can pull up on the holder to lessen the weight a few hundred grams, but that's it. Recalibration does nothing because it seems that 1808.1 g is the max, so adding a 1kg weight doesn't change the display. I think either the firmware has a glitch or the load cell is bad. 6 days before this glitch it worked fine for a 5 hour market. I always pack it back into its original box for storage and never pick it up by the forks or the plate below the load cell. What is most disappointing is the User Interface--the grinder should never lock the user out on that green screen.

  @@gregoriusariharyadiwinardi2990 okay so you can remove hopper and strip it down until the sensor is exposed. You'll need to hoover it out and then hold the sensor down with an allen key and grind at the coarsest setting. I am presuming the blades are not spinning and are stuck with coffee. It's an easy fix!!

  The screen on my grinder has locked up. It’s stuck in continuous mode and can’t change recipe or enter any menu with the dial. It’s bank holiday weekend, we’re busy and everyone is shut! Holding down the button, double pressing it and leaving it turned off won’t do anything

  @@silverskincoffee3767 hi there, I tried everything I could, I’m not sure how you factory reset, if it means going into the menu then I can’t. Engineer came out yesterday, and he thinks there’s a problem with the dial knob and to fix that would mean I need a full screen replacement, £671 😱

  @@silverskincoffee3767 based in suffolk, england. No when I turn it on it the menu is just stuck on the continuous setting mode and won’t grind until you let it. The knob won’t change anything. It’s not the GBW model but the first one, I’m hoping it’s under warranty!

  Hey Steve! So you cannot twist right to unlock ** as you stand in front of the unit? Have you removed the hopper and unlocked the neck etc..

  Hello, I have the gbw model - the crusher appear is to be 2 parts. This rubber flap like you have in the video but there’s also a metal one that seems to go with it. I’m unsure if we should just be using the rubber one, or both of them together?

  Hey both together, the steel skeletal one at the back as you look. i.e. closest to the grinder and the plastic closest to you!

  Is there a limit to how fine/course it'll go? I find my standard setting is down between 2 and 3, which seems pretty odd to me. Glad I stumbled across this one. I'm wondering though if adjusting the wheel with the top off could cause issues once the top goes back on. Like, if I were to go full coarse and then put the top on when the sliding dial is at 1. Where did you land on adjustment? Having it be at the coarsest when you put the dial at 8?

  Hey guys, its preferable to have the grinder set for espresso @ 2-3 so you cannot go too fine. However as the blades wear you'll need to adjust or you'll land on zero and no more room for adjustment. This can be seen in some establishments where the barista thinks they just cannot go any further. I'd suggest its better to know how to calibrate than not. Just ensure the lock is off the back. In this instance a semi turn of the wheel to fine i.e. the wheel towards the small dots (and the white stripe moving right to left along the grind parameter) is the way to go.

  You didn’t bring the dial to zero before taking the dial off, so you have no idea where the zero point actually sits once you put the dial collar back on.. is this bad?

  Indeed I did not I opened it completely which is howe the dial comes off. This does not and cannot reset where zero is! This just removes the plate, If you want to recalibrate the grinder you must run and use the adjustment wheel on the right hand side. Hope that helps

  Thanks for the vid. The first one we got didn’t work within the first hr. Since they were fresh there was nothing to be found about the problems or service codes etc so had to send it back. It’s a great grinder and does make things so much easier.

  Hi Simon, thanks for the comment and the info. Yes they are a game changer for sure. Have you seen the e-80 Supreme GBW it'll launch next year.. looks awesome. In a couple of years baristas wont need to know about gram throw. :)

  Two thoughts: 1) Your client got their grinder, which is a lot more than we can say here in the US. Ordered in Feb, two emails to Mahlkonig went unanswered. 2) For a grinder of this price, having to gently pull the portafilter holder out sounds like something that should have been found in factory testing, no? Are you finding these machines are more generally being finicky? Cheers!

  Hi Alec, The grinders are in short supply yes. Sign of the times I am afraid. Although we are not affiliated to MK in any way. I do understand parts and shipping are under huge pressure so the next batch will be snapped up also. I feel your pain. Regarding the portafilter holder, this as a fix to reset the grinder is all. As it turned out this unit needed to be reset and this is how we achieved that. We bought and supplied 15/20 units. We had major issues with 1/2. Th units are glitchy at times but the good far outweighs the bad. All in all I'd say they are worthy teething problems. Hope that helps mate and you get yours ASAP>

I hear you about the supply chain issues, but another reseller said that MK often promises date X for new machines and comes to market significantly later. I do wish they had taken the time to reply.   When you recalibrate the grinder like this does the distance displayed on screen also change for a given position or is the indicated measurement just relative?

  Hi Tucker, The distance won't change on screen. This isn't an adjustment that the machine will record its a recalibration.

  @@tuckspoff no calibration required. It is still measuring the distance of the change made. The resetting or re-calibratin won't affect that.

  Yes, I was wandering the same thing. After the celebration it is very off from the actual burs distance. DDD would show 0, when in reality the my actual dial is at 3. And if I move dial towards 0 (from 3 going finer) - DDD starts going from 10. So when I'm at the actual closest distance between burrs, DDD which show 7 or 8. Not sure what I'm missing.

  Hi. We just bought a siphon brewer. The first couple of times brewing coffee with it went great. After that it seems as if the coffee gets stuck in the upper pot. Do you have any idea what our problem may be?
