This is the Bible on how to get your roof to last forever. Ez & zen like too as u get to know your ride intimately on almost every structural piece. FYI have a rag handy for overspray or over abundance tho👍

I've use this method without success even if it was better some times (used to put grease on mechanism since my first prht) but now the sounds is more cracks and today the roof even cinematic even stop while pushing. Very unusual and mazda service has no clue without changing the mechanism by brand new parts (how clever). If somebody had faced the situation let me know.

@hiilvl1854Ай бұрын
@@mauricesoulis1590 yes it has been solved yesterday, in fact one of Mazda shop near me has accepted to look around the issue before replacing all parts. I've previously sent them all information I found (miata forum thread 472651) about the infamous pivot screw that lead to the issue. It's good to know that if you hear a cracking sound from the roof and the hex screw is unable to solve the issue, don't wait too much. There is a lot of tutorials to remove the deck and brought the mechanism then see if the pivot screw is not in place. Bottom line, i've paid 200 bucks to the Mazda shop to get it sorted. Also if the crank wheel is damaged it doesn't really matter. Some tooth are damaged on mine but it works flawlessly, only a small sound on 5-6 tooth remains when cinematic occurs but it's really soft. I wouldn't imagine not being able to top down in summer season. By the way all advices in the video are really what matter to keep your roof in a good condition.

There is a description in the owners manual. You also need some tools that came with the car.

I bought Krytox which is a special grease used by Mazda, for the gears. Supposedly it’s specifically formulated for the PRHT mechanism. I really appreciate your video though since it points out other areas of lubrication that I did not consider. Thank you!! Great VID!

The screw you found is what was responsible for the rattling, but still good practice to lube all the points you mentioned .

Good job showing the lube points. What oil did you use to lube the pins??
@marceetag242 жыл бұрын
The pdf guide that I've linked in the description, suggested to use motor oil, but any kind of oil will do the job. I've used bicycle oil...that might not be the best solution, but I only had that.
