I have a 6th generation grandmother that was buried here as well as 2 of her daughters. She was a Mary Bartlett. (1746-1838) Her husband and her owed Bartlett Station near Knoxville TN. When her husband passed she joined with her daughter in South Union, who had been there since it opened in 1802. I was raised in Bowling Green Kentucky near South Union not knowing until recently I had relatives that were buried there. However the grave stone were destroyed. There should be a stone set up there with the names of all that died there. I don't agree with the Shakers and if one studies what happened you will find out why they were despised by the local population of Logan County. Logan County produced four governors here in Kentucky, a one Governor John Breathitt, James and Charles Morehead, and John J. Crittenden. The Shakers in their newspaper was always slandering these Governors. Governor Breathitt was the first Governor to die on office from tuberculosis and the Shaker wrote it was the judgement of God on him. Furthermore the Shakers dammed their own movement by not allowing offsprings. Most all religions continue as a result of heritage, furthermore you can't enforce a forbiddence of the natural attraction between male/female that God ordained from the beginning. Governors

I interviewed my grandpa (WW2 vet) for a project at school...30 years ago... there was a gun that had a tripod on it he removed the supports & just carried, said at one point things were so heated the lead just melted & ran out. God Bless Our Veterans!

War is hell, for everyone, I am from UK and I know about all wars there and here. America does not bless it's veterans, so my guess is God told them not to. The VA tries, republicans don't want to support it financially, socialists do because it is important because its our people, serving unless conscripted is a choice that you make, governments abuse of patriotism makes it easier to enlist, we do not have freedom, the USA is in fear of itself not terrorists. Freedom does not exist, Freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose. I am an atheist and I have the utmost respect for anyone who died in combat or is suffering from amputation or mental health issues. I have friends who have been destroyed by war, it owns your whole life mentally. None of our people and our family should ever have to go to war.
