Dedicated to teaching you the skills needed to draw and paint successfully.
Hey! I'm Don Stewart. You'll notice that I produced a lot of the videos here on the ArtistChronicle channel in 2009 to 2013. Where have I been? Well, in 2013 my priority became getting better at teaching offline. But now, in 2020, I'm online again! With renewed zeal and dedication to providing quality how to draw and how to paint video lessons!
So, whether you watch the latest (two so far with more coming soon) or videos from a decade ago, I genuinely hope you find them all to be informative - and any kookiness to be entertaining. Hey, learning should be fun! You remember more :)

I love you corrie 💖💖💖💖💖💖
Love your humor, thanks for sharing.
Im from indonesia... I like this my friend
The art of his presentation is priceless❤
Or a tip that the rest of the world already knows…. Use the millimetre side of the ruler and divide by whatever number of squares. Much easier and more accurate than the inches side…..
Videos like this are confusing, they never show what they claim in a headline. It should say (for beginners from Hobby Amateur Artist)
You talked about symmetry, but I've noticed that most faces, (except for very attractive ones) are not symmetrical. When you are doing a portrait, do you try to "symmetricize" a person's face?
Bonus tip: when you looks at a person's hair, see it as broccoli.
Thank you so much😊😮
Thank you ❤❤
👍❤
Great presentation. 😊
Use smaller 2 cm squares 000----FAR more accurate !
Thanks a lot Only for your guideline my crush told my portrait was great And he liked that❤
Loved it ! But You da Cheata, You did not paint the toner on in Two tones , Just One Tone
Too much ! I loved it ! Oh yes and you could just use a metric ruler, much easier to divide into.
But Barney can't sing not a lick
The most helpful and to the point tutorial video ever! Thank you so much 🤗
your drawing is so perfect
I've always thought that thinning a paint as much as you recommend would leave the pigment without enough binder. I sort of imagine it to be like getting the powdered pigment, mixing it with water, and rubbing it on the ground. After the water dries it would create powder layer that would separate the oil paint from the ground, so it wouldn't stick to the canvas. What do you think?
Vẻ đẹp quá bạn ơi 🎉🎉🎉🎉
What tools do you use?
Thanks you can help me
My subject is entirely nearly the same color as the tones background.. are there other suggested colors
She was cute as a button on The Andy Griffith Show,, growing up in the 60s I always wanted my first name to have two names like Thelma lou, or Betty Jo etc.... oh well, I'm stuck with Terese.
Incredibly useful video on drawing portraits😊😺
One of the best tutorial we receive in class and I would have love you as a teacher ! 😂 You incorporate humour and knowkedge !
Thanks 🙏
❤❤
That was annoying
No not best
I was about to go see her in about 2 weeks, and she passed away on my birthday before I could get there.
far too complicated.
art should be relaxing, not stressing with measurements and formulas....
hello. I am a student who started oil painting for about 3 months. I was reading an article about blocking and was curious, so I would like to ask a question. What oil should I use when blocking? I searched through numerous videos and articles, but couldn't find it. The two oils I have on hand are flaxseed oil and gamsol. (Please understand that I am not good at English, so I am using Google Translator)
Susan is a beast. Legit artist, historian, does it all.
I want to know how to do the portrait artists were used to do in 18’s. Do u get it?
The best toning video. Thank you.
Very, very helpful.
Very good and informative videos presented in a fun and non-condescending way for us novices. Tres bien!
This is an amazing explanation (best i have seen). I need to know it this works the same for oil painting and if i have sketching on the canvas using graphite pencil will the toning remove the sketching on the white canvas?? Thank u so much.
Thank you.
👏. Can this be done if I already sketched on the canvas without removing the graphing markings…?? Please & thank you
This is exactly what I needed, everything was perfect, the explanation is easy to understand, there's humour, the model is beautiful, and now I understand what "seeing shapes" truly means. Thank you.
Your presentation is electric, I love it!
Nice work
One like for Corrie..😂💯❤
I sooooo wish you where my art teacher in school !!!!!!!! This is awesome thank you for sharing this knowledge with us 💖💖💖
Thanks so very much for taking the time to share your knowledge and experience. I loved the humor and tempo of your videos, too. I often need a refresher in particular areas, and you are my go to painter. Have a great New Year!
Can you tone with acrylic for an oil painting?
So THAT’S what the artist “thumbs up” motion is for!-
