I had a '73 Pinto wagon that same color but not a Squire and it was a 4 speed manual. I paid $150 for it in 1979. My first brand new car was a '76 Pinto Pony MPG 4 speed that really did get the advertised mileage estimates of 24 City and 36 HWY. There were two more, a red '72 2 door and a red '73 wagon, both auto trans.

It's easy to see how a fella could get out of joint and pissy eyed trying to navigate a troublesome 50 year old relic down our nations by-ways, but there is a solution. Replacing your cars transmission vacuum modulator will solve your problems and correct your car's bad behavior. I would also change the spark plugs, as they have become fouled due to the bad modulator. So fix that ole firebomb and don't let that kid see her father crying. Happy motoring.

When you think about it there definitely is a possibility that one day a DeLorean time machine will just appear somewhere. IF humanity finds out a way for time traveling and we come to a point where time travel machines become publicly available someone will probably make a DeLorean shaped time machine because is has become such a staple of pop culture

Definitely feel his vibes as another person of color. I also don't think it helps either when other things that you're a "minority" to (in relation to the group) compounds on top of one another. I attended the 2nd OC Rally and although I didn't feel threatened of any sort, it did give a sense of uncomfortableness. I drove a non-Porsche (there were a lot of Porsche's), came "alone" (that is no other friends with cars, had a passenger though), am Asian (in primarily white crowd), and an introvert. However I too agree that one needs to take that first step. On the OC Rally I ended up just joining group of cars and ended up cruising with others (misfit of mostly non-porsche guys), helped a few guys with tools and diagnosis, and made a friend or two along the way. Nothing like driving all day together and then sharing a pack of beer at the end of the day. The car; the breakdowns; and the journey will bring us together. There's nothing wrong with starting with what you're comfortable with for the OC Rally (i.e. Porsche clubs/groups or friends that are white). Most of my car friends are Asian, and so I would start it with them too. Like Rashod too (and I think it's a minority mentality) I also would be skeptical when all they see is primarily white people and little else to want to come. But as you guys expand the reach to newcomers AND as OC stretches' out further I think that diversity will naturally come. OC Rally is in the adolescent stage and I believe you guys are heading in the right direction. (From the local MN perspective) I think if you guys do collabs with other car groups (that are more diverse) such as meets or even just one-day cruises then I think that'll help bring awareness to OC and the OC Rally. I only see a lot of the JDM side here but I think knowing that the person who leads your group "knows" you guys and that they're promoting it would give me and probably those around me to be more willing to join in on the OC Rally despite the current environmental/politics climate. Does this mean you should get an advertisement team? Probably not? But it helps. Of course more awareness could bring in people who may not comply to rules (like those who do burn outs or overrevving), so there's balance to be had. Having car group Admins who know their group can immensely help with filtering that out. Great episode though, keep it up OC.

With something like this you watch what Baby Boomers are doing. At this point, they are starting to die off. I don't mean the internet definition (boomer = all living people over age 38) but the classic peak-boomer heavy capital cultural clump who are now around 75-85 and dying off daily. The remaining crazy collectors, those who will pour deep meaning and importance into these are the children of the Boomers who don't get a cultural moniker other than 'children of boomers' who are today around 50. For them, they were born and grew up among the last of the classic cars. Which is to say, 60s cars were still common cars well into the 1970s. Car culture, cars as identity, as markers, as representations of freedom is still buried deep in the Woodstock Kids, the now '50 something' who might be inheriting and collecting and has also reached a place to afford it and/or know what to do. It's still not unusual to see a 48 year old and a 78 year old Boomer dad bonding and wowwing over some 50s or 60s car, however, 10 years from now it may only be 60 year olds alone. The coming generation will not be collecting a lot of 90s era cars and didn't grow up with any special feelings about old cars *to the degree* todays market is and has been.
