#askmg I am 71 years old and recently obtained a HELOC against my primary home. I plan to use the funds to modernize and upgrade my bathroom from a tub to a walk-in shower. I was told that this could add value to my home. According to this segment, you mentioned using the loan to invest in property to generate cash flow. Given my age, would it be smart to take a portion of the HELOC and invest in another property at this time?

Alright so let’s get this straight: Find a HML who will cover 80% purchase Use credit card or personal cash for the down payment Fix up the property Cash out refi Pull your initial down payment and pay back the credit card or your initial investment Repeat

Lenders need to change how they look at self employed borrowers. Just because someone is paid with w-2 doesn't automatically make them more likely to pay their mortgage. My ex husband got a mortgage when we were married and the bank didn't want me on the mortgage because I'm self employed. He had been at his job 20 years. He wanted the house when we split. The mortgage payment was cheaper than rent but the fool let the house go into foreclosure. Besides, w-2 employees get fired, sick, laid off, or quit their jobs sometimes. A w-2 and decent or good credit score doesn't guarantee they are a safer bet than those of us who are self employed. My husband got a mortgage and had been with his employer 5 years. He only stayed that long to get a mortgage when we were ready. He quit is job 6 months after we moved in and started his own (failing) business. These lender terms do not secure them to always get their money.

Okay I just bought a house a couple of years ago..... My question to you is maxed out and I'm making payments on it that's the only thing that I have that's in red. Other than that everything is being paid on a monthly payment of all my necessities. My question is will the credit card stop me from getting the HELOC? #AskMG

Loans are coming due and people are not going to be able to pay back those loans for multiple family homes. So there going back to the bank or they sell them for cheap to get out. You’re it’s different from 2008 single family crash but it’s definitely gonna be something major and it’s happening now 🙏🏾
