The new background is nice, audio is a bit echo-y in the beginning, is the ceiling higher? In either case, I watch your channel for you and your content, so whatever works for you is fine with me! 👍🤗 Thanks for doing what you do, so very well!
Either set is fine. However, that blue-green light over your left shoulder shining on the map is a wee bit visually distracting. Presume it is a light around your camera.
Let's cut to the chase. I am a diehard Wheel fan, but the show has been completely underwhelming so far. The books are so grand, they are massive in description and scale and the show just hasn't captured it. I can live with the changes to the storyline ( though I spend way too much time explaining almost every scene to my non-wheel friends and family watching) the visual effects are amateurish, the scale of the armies and battles are tiny. There are supposed to be over a hundred heroes of the horn and maybe only twenty showed up on screen. The Battle of Falme was laughable compared to the book. There were supposed to be over two hundred ships with the invading Seanchan military at Falme. I counted about 50. Don't get me started on what they did to Loial! As a fan base we need to push for a better show that captures how we know the show should be! Quit giving the producers and network a free pass! Though I completely agree on the Rings of Power! That one is just plain bad.
Great info as always Jon! Amazing how many people freak out about "news and rumors" when they never actually watch the original video. I personally really like all of your thoughts, especially those about Donal taking other jobs between seasons. As for the video, I personally like what you've done a lot with the new look! Keep up the great work 🥰
I see your point, but comparing Wheel of Time success and value, to RoP, which is a really really bad value proposition at this point, doesn't necessarily mean that WoT is a GOOD investment, just that its better value than something that currently looks to be a TERRIBLE value.
I thought season 2 was better than season 1, and if season 3 again ups the ante, I hope it can gain better traction. I hope people who may have already formed their opinion after season 1 would give it another chance.

I like your "old" format videos, tell those people to heck off. The main criticism I have though for this video is that non-symmetrical beard is KILLING me. Dude! I had to turn away while watching.

HEY! Loving the new look! Personally, I didn’t really care about the way your setting looked or anything. I thought it was homey and humble, and I like that. But this is a pretty good step up! Looking modern and beautiful, absolutely love it! I always love your videos too! Couldn’t survive the wait for the release without them! :)
The concept behind that Kickstarter is pretty cool. I also can't focus on audiobooks, but the sample with the backing soundtrack was enjoyable to listen to. I may back the Kickstarter for one book and see if it makes audiobooks usable for me.
Thanks for all the updates. I can't believe folks are upset about Finn. He recently did a play in London's West End. US TV actors frequently filmed movies between seasons. And I did wonder how the cast survived with these long spans between filming. As for your desk and its overall appearance? It's whatever makes you comfortable.

From what I’ve read over the years Actors are usually paid X amounts per episode they’re in. Leading characters usually get more $ compared to supporting and established actors get more because they can get more etc.
I don't care what your videos look like--I watch them for the content, which is always good.

Re the look, I didn't think there was anything wrong with the old one, but I like this too. Know what's more important though? You make good content and tell us interesting stuff with strong analysis. If you keep making videos I'll keep watching, whatever the setup.

Love the "Statistics" part of the video Jon. Perhaps in the absence of real WOT news, you can start a series where you answer some hard-hitting business questions we have. Such as: why do you think there is no merch? Compare merch for The Boys/other big series Amazon has.I have a theory that Red Eagle shut that down and is contuing to hamper efforts. I'd love to see a detailed breakdown of what a "profitable" episode of Wot is, like what % of profit from new subscribers/new viewers/etc goes to Amazon, what to Sony, what to Red Eagle. How many new subs has Wot brought to Amazon vs The Boys, RoP, Fallout etc. Fallout is an Amazon "in house" project. Maybe Red Eagle/iWot takes too much of the "profit." Do you think this makes WoT a less attractive investment over time, b/c they see less of the profit then their other shows? This is one thing that concerns me. Why does Amazon value new subs more than views? Yes, this ties into their shopping channel. But how exactly does this work? Don't they realize that there is not an infinite number of potential new veiwers/new subs? How many countries have Prime anyway? HBO works the same way. I'd love to know more about the whole business end of the streaming model works. A series where you break this all down, Amazon/Sony etc in particular, would be VERY interesting and be something that a lot of folks would watch. I used to watch a channel called The John Campea Show where he did this sometimes, but he turned into a Disney/Marvel shill and I quit watching.
Thanks for the updates! The new set looks fine. I'm here for the info, not design. I'll be looking forward to seeing Donal in Young Sherlock. I enjoy stumbling upon WOT cast members in other shows. They are everywhere! Fares Fares was great in The Decameron, young Siuan was in The Irregulars, Siuan's dad had a pretty big role in Warrior Nun, and I even recognized the Accepted who healed breakbone fever in The Woman In The Wall.
I’m with you. Audio books do not hold my attention. I get on the internet. Start doing work. Etc. the sound fx might be enough to work for me. I think if we had better voice actors in audio books combined with audio effects - I would totally listen.
opposite here, audio effects distract me from the listening, i want to make things up in my head and not got things other people think it sounds like that.
Thank you, John, another great video! I do like the new look a lot! A couple of suggestions. I would suggest sitting a tad more to the left as I’m looking at the screen, it feels like you’re being crowded a bit by the images you project to your right. My second suggestion is to turn up the brightness a tad, feels like you’re in a darkened room. By the way, your last video was excellent, your explanation was more than clear. Disappointing to hear that some didn’t reach out to you first to clarify what you meant rather than picking up the ball and running in the wrong direction with it. You look great, but you did before too. I think the most important thing is that you feel comfortable and relaxed. I am not sure a slightly sideways posture is the best for that. It's good to have a go at following design advice, but I follow because of what you say and show us. You being comfortable is essential for that.

I also saw a few blogs/articles/videos with alarming clickbait titles about the WoT series being canceled using your video as a reference, just hours after it went live. Your mic is too far away. it creates a bit of an echo like you are in a metal box or something. The ring light reflection in the map is a distraction and the light is a bit too blue.

Wheel of Time season 1 is just bad, mediocre at best. They won’t be able to bring new people to watch it. Spoiler alert : season 3 won’t do great in numbers

The soundscape will initially be timed to Michael and Kate but will quickly be retimed for a second version with Rosamund! :D

Well, I'm surprised that this show popped up on my recommends again. I checked out after the season 1 finale, it was... a LOT to process (mostly negative). And I haven't thought about it in 3 years, it truly left me that disappointed. I don't agree with the decisions and the direction of the showrunner. I do think maybe Rafe should have an in-depth conversation with Brandon Sanderson and GRR Martin on adaptations and why he thinks he's a better writer than they are. But most of the time I honestly don't have the energy or time to devout to a show that let me down this badly, so I unsubscribed from all content about WOT show. And now from outside looking in, there is NO buzz about this show with trend or interest. I would be surprised if there was a season 4 whatever Sarah says, I mean why would Amazon continue to throw money away with no return.
I really do hope season 3 will be the last. I wish the best for the actors and think they deserve to be in better productions than what this show can offer.
My reaction to Jon reading S. Maas books? I haven’t read any of those books, but let’s go with: “Gird your loins.”

Some unsolicited advice about how to be successful on youtube. Half your video was disclaimers about how things are just your opinion, please don't be mad about xyz, that kind of thing. Have some balls, say your piece about the show, and then shut up. No one wants to here you mewing like a child "please don't be mad at me". Stop with the infinite spew of platitudes, apologies, and disclaimers. It will make you infinitely more watchable, because your analysis of the show is quite good. if you say something that makes people mad, good, people love a controversial take.
i have a theory, and i know it’s an international show with an international audience, BUT, hear me out: WoT wouldn’t do well in an America run by whitecloaks-Trump’s America- but it might do very well in a country that chooses to elect Kamala.

Definitely looking forward to Wheel of Time Season 3. I don't care & will not watch Rings of Power Season 2. I am watching House of the Dragon season 2 currently.
Wheel of time TV show has always been the poor cousin against ROP. With the gap between series it's no surprise that viewer apathy kicks in. I'm struggling to see how this will get past series 3 unfortunately.
Brilliant video! Very informative. Such a shame that Wheel of Time gets less attention than Rings of Power and House of the Dragons (the latter I have not even seen), also agree 2 years between seasons is at least double the time gap it should be. Loved the comparisons with charts, too!
