Dennis Anthonis

I play acoustic covers of songs and try to show both hands for educational reasons. I always appreciate when other artists do the same. After all, this is a forum for learning. And with that in mind, I’ve also produced a few tutorials for guitar players wanting to learn finger style guitar... particularly “Travis style pattern picking.”
I utilize this alternating-bass Travis-style picking pattern in most of my covers that are in 4/4 time. I had several requests to show this technique and how to do it. Please refer to my tutorials.
When someone comments on my videos, I always respond as I appreciate the feedback. I always visit your channel too. Please like and share my videos. Remember, music is the universal language that binds us inextricably together. Peace and love to all.

Most instructors have the thumb play only the E, A, and D strings whereas you also include it to play G. Is there a reason for this? Many thanks.

Thank you for this tutorial, I'm getting the hang of it now! There's one thing I don't understand: why is the bass note of the E chord being played on the A string? Wouldn't it make more sense to play it on the E string?

  • @DennisAnthonis

… excellent observation. Yes, the bass note for the E-Major or Em chords should be the 6th string (the thickest string). I may have inadvertently hit the A-string. Hi Dennis, I woke up with this condition a month ago and it is still lingering. How long did it take for your thumb to stop clicking and the pain to go away once you started your therapy routine? By chance did you have a painful knot at the base of your thumb too? I am watching a lot of videos to learn about this. Just noticed days I have more salt in my diet causes more intense flare ups. And had to cut out all inflammatory foods. Thanks much.
