    Hi can you use H4 on tarmac/asphalt steep twisting road / like in the highest point in georgia, i am asking this because i went there and i just use 2H, i hesitated in using H4 because its tarmac/ asphalt not offroad/dirt and i am afraid i will ruin 4wd system/ trnsmission/ transfer case, thank you, hope you give insight it will be helpful in future adventures, thank you again.

  • @overlandinganglers
    @overlandinganglers9 күн бұрын

    You will, do not use H4 on asphalt or tarmac, you need a surface that will slip to use H4. It will wear out your components to use it on normal roads

    If you break down on the trail, can you fix it? I’m just wondering why you had a radiator put in at a shop instead of doing it yourself?

  • @overlandinganglers
    @overlandinganglersАй бұрын

    I can, we did it at the shop because they are my corporate sponsor, have better tools than I do, and it’s indoors instead of in the 110 degree heat. We also had to replace the condenser so they have the Evac tool and I don’t

    The N or NEUTRAL should be engaged when the vehicle is being dragged (not carried by a flatbed tow truck) by say a tow strap or like a repo truck or an RV. Also, 2HI is the default which means its in RWD.

  • @overlandinganglers
    @overlandinganglers2 ай бұрын

    You’ll have to refer to the owner manual for the neutral. Generally when you are flat towing (behind an RV) you place the transfer case in neutral and then place the transmission in park however, I’m most sure what Toyotas direction is. Your correct 2H is rear wheel drive

    Many thanks for your informative video. I'd be very grateful for your opinion on a cool air intake modification I'm thinking of making. I have a Hilux SW4 diesel 2008. The air filter is like a drum on the right and it receives air from under the wheel arch, which, even if the ill-fitting plastic liner with its fragile fasteners provided reasonable protection from dirt and rain thrown up by the wheel, I'd like to shift the air intake to inside the engine bay at the coolest, most protected spot. My idea is to block the orginal entry tube and fit another of the same diameter either forward to just behind the headlamp or at the right back corner of the engine compartment. Can you tell me which would be the cooler position and least likely to suck in dust and rain. Incidentally, I'm againt schnorkels for varios reasons, although they do look "sexy". I'd be extremely grateful for your expert advice on this project.

  • @overlandinganglers
    @overlandinganglers3 ай бұрын

    Honestly I was hesitant until I discovered the Sy-Klone precleaner. It makes a world of difference. As far as moving it. I’m a little more hesitant. Really nothing in the engine bay will provide cool air or enough air. Going behind the headlight means you’re more likely to ingest water and dust. You need to get the air from outside the bay all together.

  • @brianhazlehurst2152
    @brianhazlehurst21523 ай бұрын

    Many thanks for your advice. By all accounts, the sporty filters withot an airbox must suck in only hot air as often they're located right on top of the engine. Most You|Tubers condemn them. It seems the only solution is a snorkel with a bell-shaped pre--filter head, which can receive air from any direction and provides good protection from water.

    I know the video is like a year old but I wanted to ask if possible I’m currently interested in the MX 275 and also they’re selling the MX 575 I’m in Miami in the city don’t really need anything major but would the 275 be enough, I heard 275 the it’s not wide band ? Awesome video by the way thank you!

  • @overlandinganglers
    @overlandinganglers5 ай бұрын

    Thanks for watching and that’s an excellent question! So the main difference between the 575 and 275 is power. The 275 operates is 15 watts the 575 is 50 watts. This will equal more range with the 575, but with the repeaters available in the city you can easily stretch the range. We consistently get up to 50 miles of range utilizing the repeater. It’s also easier to set up. The 275 can operate of a simple 12 V from the car. It’s also much smaller and easier to mount. I hope this helped but if you have any more questions feel free to reach out to our email. [email protected]

    When we started out I didn’t know much about 4x4’s. But the shop that does our work has taught me every step of the way. It’s been nice to learn under them

    @overlandinganglers yea gatta start somewhere. Passion for something will only get you so far. After you reach that point, going to a friendly, reliable source is always your best bet. Honestly, people who work at shops that do custom work are usually very nice and are willing to teach if you are willing to listen. A lot of times, that's where you will end up making the best friends in off-roading. You just have to be willing to admit you don't know much and are down to learn. From your build, it looks like you are on the right path. Keep the passion and the willingness to accept help from others, and make sure you stay safe out there. ✌️
